"Oh! Well, hello there. I'm Oak - Samson Oak. I'm a Pokémon researcher, and I'm looking into the regional variants found around here. Regional Variants are Pokémon whose the influences of a particular region or species has caused them to change. For an example, take this reginal variant of Ninetales:"
"In Kanto, they are Fire-Types that are able to summon Sun. However, the icy mountains in Alola caused them to become an Ice type! The following are the overall changes:
Pokemon: Ninetales
New typing: Ice/Fairy
New abilities: Snow Cloak (Snow Warning)
New stats: 73/67/75/81/100/109 (505) (-9 Atk, +9 Speed)
"As you can see, it also loses a bunch of Fire-Type moves to gain new Ice-Type moves. Ninetales is only one of the many Alola Formes I had researched in my Dex. However, my Rotom has erased all the data in the Pokédex, and so I trust you to help me with my research of these variants!"
Pokémon: Here is where you specify what Pokémon you are giving an Alolan Form to. It must be from the current slate
New Typing: The new typing. You may shift it arouns as much as you want. The evolutionary family must share at the least one typing
New Abilities: Must keep the same amount of abilities as the original. They must be already-existing abilities.
New Stats: Net change must equal 0. No more than +/- 30 in any single stat. (You cannot increase a Pokemon's higher attack/defense if the difference between both attacks/defense is more than 50. For example, Tauros has an attack "gap" of 60 (100 - 40), so you can't add to its higher Attack stat. You can deduct from it, however, to put toward other stats.) Also, try not to go too crazy with boosting already powerful stats; Just because you can make a Tyranitar forme with 164 base Attack doesn't mean you should. You may swap a Pokemon's Attack / Defense and Special Attack / Special Defense before modifying them, but the gap rule still applies to the new higher stat.
New/Removed Moves: You cannot add more moves than you remove unless you're adding a dual type to a single typed Pokemon. Then you can double the new moves total. If you're just adding a secondary type to a single-typed Pokemon, you can add 10 moves for free. No new moves can be created.
Flavor/Design: (Opitional, but highly encouraged to do, since it's arguably the most important part of the mod) Talk about what made the Pokémon change and how the new form looks. For an example, the sun in Alola had a reaction on Exeggutor, making them grow taller due to the sun being harsher than in Kanto. It now has a taller neck, a happy expression, and a tail, with a head at the end of it. It also resembles a Dracaena, explaining it's Dragon type.
In case the Pokémon has a mega, here's how to do the Alolan Mega:
Mega Rules:
-The sum of the stat modifications brought on by Mega Evolution must equal +100.
-You may add no more than 100-(Base Stat Total/10 (rounded up)) to a single stat.
-A Mega Evolution need not share a type with the entirety of its line, but it must share one with its base form.
