  1. Resource ORAS OU Viability Ranking Thread V4

The thing about Chansey's passivity is that it's nigh-peerless. When people say "it's too passive" about most Pokemon with only weak damaging options, they mean "it only has a weak Brave Bird" or "it only has a weak Scald". No other Pokemon is shut down as thoroughly by Taunt as Chansey is...
  2. Resource ORAS OU Viability Ranking Thread V4

Forcing in Tankchomp and Lando-T really isn't all that great an to aspersion to cast upon a physical revenge killer, just saying. Diabolic also kind of undersold the lists of threats it can beat. Putting the RU set in the calc gives me: Clefable (54.7 - 66.1% Tail Slap vs. 50.8 -...
  3. Hidden Type

Any dark/poison mons with levitate, pure electrics with levitate, water/ground with sap sipper, bug/steel with flash fire (or primordial sea) or pure flying types with delta stream. I don't think Sap Sipper Ground Azu has any weaknesses. Poison is neutralized, and it's immune to electric and Grass.
  4. Balancing Scald - New Mechanics (see post #125)

this is just too good to be true you trying to tell me this is the best thing anybody on the smogon staff came up with? So why does my heart flutter so as I build a UU team?
  5. ORAS - post-Greninja - Metagame Discussion

Mental Herb is the main item Scolipede runs on BP teams (the matter at hand, in other words). A scolipede that isn't running mental herb can be pressured by most taunt users into passing before it gets iron defense or a sub up, while also only passing one stage of speed. I don't follow. And...
  6. ORAS - post-Greninja - Metagame Discussion

Did we ban Slowbro and Mew when Endless Battle was a fad? I'm talking about a ban of the use of Mental Herb in conjunction with baton pass. That combination of item and move really only shows up on Scolipede, and is exactly what makes its typical quickpass set so infamously reliable. Axing...
  7. ORAS - post-Greninja - Metagame Discussion

The heart of the problem seems to be HerbPass. power herb and mental herb are what push Smeargle and Scolipede over in most cases, since Mental Herb is what allows Scolipede to both boost its defense and pass so reliably, and power herb is what makes geopass smeargle not a laughable piece of...
  8. Gen 6 Good Cores: ORAS Ubers Edition

That's not how it works on showdown, at the very least. Reflect Fairy Lock Sac got me through Megamence's stint in OU.
  9. Other ORAS OU Viability Ranking Thread - Check post #2359

Absolutely no need for a dragon move. Flygon would much rather beat ferro and skarm with reasonable consistency than sometimes beat certain other dragons on the switch when they're cripplingly weakened. Earth Power + FB is probably the best option. Earth Power beats Bisharp the most...
  10. Balanced Hackmons -ate Clause Vote

Fake Out's definitely scary too, but Extreme Speed can keep it from being threatened out by priority users after the first turn, and the gulf in power between a 78 BP move and a 156 BP move can definitely make the difference against bulkier revenge killers and sweepers. Boomburst also makes it...
  11. Balanced Hackmons -ate Clause Vote

The -ate abilities are such an albatross for BH and always have been, but really only because of Boomburst and ESpeed in conjunction with Fridge Kyurem and most recently and especially Aerilate Mega Ray. It's never been too difficult to manage just one of these guys without having to resort to...
  12. Project OU Theorymon [Voting: Check Post #3272]

I'll let you do it since you gave me the idea and i can't be bothered to do it myself.
  13. Project OU Theorymon [Voting: Check Post #3272]

Have you considered Volcarona? Moths are known for their silk, and Volcarona's biggest claim to fame this gen is as something you have in your party when you're breeding. It has a speed tier that's decent, but not as good as it was; and good but not incredible bulk and power.
  14. Mega-Salamence: considering a quick ban (Don't ask for the thread to be closed!)

I know that's supposed to sound like a disincentive, but I'm sure at least half of the people posting in the thread would totally take that bullet if it meant not waiting 6-9 days for Mence to get banned.
  15. Gen 6 Primal Kyogre

Probably fire because doubles. Imagine staring down the barrel of Pryogre+Genesect (or megazor, or ferrothorn). But yeah, it seems pretty underwhelming for uber singles when you put it next to specs/scarf Kyogre. Its biggest niche is probably going to be as a check/counter (the latter...
  16. Mega-Salamence: considering a quick ban (Don't ask for the thread to be closed!)

Dragon STAB, Substitute, Facade, and/or a coverage move like Hydro Pump (or EQ) can nullify any of those. None of its defensive answers can kill it fast enough and none of its offensive answers have even a prayer of switching in.
  17. Mega-Salamence: considering a quick ban (Don't ask for the thread to be closed!)

Shaymin's Sky form already got a unanimous ban vote a long time ago, so even that argument is out the window. It's an incredibly flimsy check at best, since it doesn't outspeed +1 mence after a single boost, and I'm not even gonna bother checking how hard it gets its teeth knocked in by...
  18. Gen 6 ORAS Ubers Cute-Ability Ranking Thread

Gothitelle and Ferrothorn are below the genies? Ferrothorn has surprisingly adorable animations and expressive eyes, and Gothitelle has bows. Lando and Thundy have jack and shit unless you think a bara with leprosy and ugly facial hair, and a dumb tiger with a popeye and ugly facial hair are...

Still gets its teeth knocked in by either of Aero's stabs (or even just ice fang if there's rocks down), and can't really do daniels even if it does manage to get a hit off.
  20. Other ORAS Metagame Discussion

Shaky check at best. It can't switch in because it's outsped by +1 Mence and solidly 2HKO'd by return, even with the defensive investment. Return'll OHKO after rocks on a crit, and has a chance even without one if the Mence has an attack-positive nature. Thrash and Double-Edge just OHKO...
