Meme Master
Overview

- Blaziken and Mega Blaziken are great options for a fast, offensive Pokemon in the 1v1 metagame.
- A great offensive Fire/Fighting typing allows for Blaziken to beat many common bulky Steel-types like Mega Metagross, Mega Mawile, and Magearna.
- Blaziken has great mixed attacking stats as well as a strong mixed movepool including Blast Burn, Flare Blitz, High Jump Kick, and Stone Edge.
- Blaziken and Mega Blaziken can outpace a large portion of the metagame thanks to its ability speed boost, however it must use either Protect or Endure to ensure it sets up safely.

[Blaziken]
Blaziken @ Life Orb / Firium Z
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Blast Burn
- High Jump Kick
- Protect / Endure
- Stone Edge / HP Ice

Set Comments

Moves

- Blast Burn is Blaziken’s main attack allowing it to defeat nearly any Steel-type besides Heatran and Magnezone and most neutral Pokemon like Tapu Koko
- High Jump Kick is Blaziken’s secondary STAB move allowing it to beat Heatran, Rock-types, and Dark-types like Rhyperior and Tyranitar.
- Protect prevents all damage done to Blaziken to let it safely get a speed boost.
- Endure also allows Blaziken to safely get a speed boost and capitalizes on recharge moves from Porygon-Z or Greninja, but also can leave Blaziken susceptible to priority moves.
- Stone Edge allows Blaziken to beat Mega Charizard Y.
- Hidden Power Ice allows Blaziken to beat Landorus-T and Garchomp.

Set Details

- 252 Speed and a Hasty Nature guarantees the most speed for Blaziken to outspeed as many threats as possible including Base 90 speed Pokemon that aren’t using a speed boosting nature
- 252 Special Attack powers up Blaziken’s Blast Burn to make it as strong as possible.
- 4 Attack gives Blaziken a small boost to his physical moves like High Jump Kick and Stone Edge
- Life Orb is the preferred item on this set as it boosts all moves 1.3x, allowing Blaziken to secure more OHKOs.
- Firium Z makes Blast Burn into a 200 BP move without a recharge turn allowing Blaziken to break walls.
- Speed Boost is the obvious ability of choice to help Blaziken reach high speeds.

Usage Tips

- Blaziken excels at taking out Steel-types and should be used to discourage the opponent from using them.
- However, make sure to avoid sending in Blaziken on Sturdy pokemon like Donphan and Mimikyu as it has no real way of OHKOing them.
- Against faster oponents Blaziken should almost always use Protect or Endure turn 1, so it can outpace them turn 2.
- Against slower opponents, without a scarf, Blaziken should usually just attack to not give them a turn to set up.
- Blaziken’s best move is Blast Burn, or Inferno Overdrive if using Firium Z, and should be used unless either the opponent resists Fire, is weak to Fighting, or is doubly weak to the coverage move.
- When facing Choice Scarf users like Porygon-Z, it’s best to try and get double protect as it is unlikely that Blaziken will outspeed them after only 1 turn.
- Against Dragon Dance, Quiver Dance, or Substitute users like Mega Charizard X, Volcarona, and Landorus-T, it can be better to use an attacking move on their predicted set-up move, but not use Blast Burn as they could potentially take advantage of the recharge turn if they survive.

Team Options

- Mega Gyarados, Kyurem-B, and Mega Venusaur can defeat Sturdy Pokemon that cause issues for Blaziken. Similarly the first two appreciate Blaziken’s ability to deal with Steel-types.
- Slow Pokemon like Magearna can appreciate Blaziken’s ability to speed control and scare off faster Pokemon: conversely Blaziken appreciates Magearna’s ability to beat Tapu Lele and Mega Slowbro.
- Grass-types and Electric-types like Kartana and Tapu Koko can help beat Water-types Pokemon like Mega Gyarados and Mega Blastoise.

Moves

- High Jump Kick is Blaziken's strongest STAB attack that can break many Dark-, Normal-, and Ice-types like Tyranitar, Porygon-Z, and Kyurem-B
- Flare Blitz is Blaziken's second strongest STAB but is also very useful against popular Steel-types that who's secondary typing resists Fighting moves like Mega Mawile, Magearna, and Mega Metagross
- Stone Edge is used against Mega Charizard Y
- Protect allows for Mega Blaziken to get to a high speed without taking any damage.
- Endure also allows Blaziken to safely get a speed boost and capitalizes on recharge moves from
Greninja, but also can leave Blaziken susceptible to priority moves.

Set Details
- 252 Speed and a Jolly nature lets Blaziken outspeed almost the entirety of the metagame after one speed boost.
- 252 Attack gives Mega Blaziken as high of an attack stat as possible.

- Against slower opponents, it's better to just attack first rather than wait.
- Mega Blaziken's strongest move is High Jump Kick and should be used unless the opponent resists Fighting, is weak to Fire, or is doubly weak to Rock.
- Against Dragon Dance, Quiver Dance, or Substitute users like Mega Charizard X, Volcarona, and Tapu Koko, and Mega Pinsir, it can be better to use an attacking move on their predicted set-up move.

Team Options
- Pokemon that beat Sturdy Pokemon like Mega Gyarados, Mega Blastoise, and Kyurem-B and can appreciate Mega Blaziken beating Steel-types that could cause these Pokemon difficulties
- Magearna can be useful at beating Pokemon like Tapu Lele and Mega Gyarados which also appreciates the speed control Blaziken provides.
- Sturdy Pokemon like Crustle, Donphan, and Golem also can help beat Mega Charizard X, which Mega Blaziken has difficulty beating
Strategy Comments

Other Options

- A SubReversal set can be used to take advantage of Blaziken's high speed but leaves Blaziken without a coverage move
- Wil-o-Wisp is good against slower physical Pokemon to weaken them and can be used with Firium Z to give a +1 Attack boost.
- Thunder Punch is a good option to use against Mega Gyarados who don't anticipate it.

Checks and Counters

Sturdy Pokemon: Because Blaziken can't OHKO them thanks to Sturdy, Pokemon like Crustle, Donphan, and Golem are easily able to beat it.

Tapu Lele and Mew: Thanks to Psychium-Z and Mewnium Z, Tapu Lele and Mew can easily OHKO Blaziken, even past Protect

Choice Scarf users: Choice Scarf users like Porygon-Z and Kyurem-B will be faster than standard Blaziken even after one speed boost. However, Mega Blaziken will be faster than these two, but an even faster Scarf user like Greninja will still be faster.

Mixed Defensive Walls: Pokemon like Mega Venusaur and Mega Slowbro can withstand Blaziken's moveset with ease and simply wear it out.

- Blaziken and Mega Blaziken are great options for a fast, offensive Pokemon in the 1v1 metagame.
- A great Fire/Fighting typing allows for Blaziken to beat many common bulky Steel-types like Mega Metagross, Mega Mawile, and Magearna. (fire / fighting is good offensively but really lacking in defensive capabilities, i'd change it to "a great offensive typing of fire / fighting..." etc)
- Blaziken has great mixed attacking stats as well as a strong mixed movepool including Blast Burn, Flare Blitz, High Jump Kick, and Stone Edge.
- Blaziken and Mega Blaziken can outpace a large portion of the metagame thanks to its ability speed boost, however it has to give up a move slot to either Protect or Endure to do so. (it doesn't have to give up a moveslot; protect / endure are absolutely essential. add emphasis on how it needs protect / endure no matter what the set to bring out its niche of speed boost)
- Because it will almost always want to use either Protect or Endure turn 1, many Pokemon can predict this and use either Substitute or their own speed boosting move. (this is more of a usage tips thing, not really fit for overview)

Moves

- Blast Burn is Blaziken’s main attack allowing it to defeat nearly any Steel-type besides Heatran and Magnezone (this makes it sound like it only beats steel mons; life orb / z move blast burn is a really really strong move to throw out there. it can handle way more than just steel mons, so it'd be nice to see here what it can deal with outside of stuff that will obviously drop. also, remove heatran from this point because you beat it with fighting stab regardless)
- High Jump Kick is Blaziken’s secondary STAB move allowing it to beat Heatran, Rock-types, and Dark-types like Rhyperior and Tyranitar. (this is where the beauty of blaizken's typing is, fighting coverage typically beats the stuff which fire coverage won't. mention this)
- Protect prevents all damage done to Blaziken to let it safely get a speed boost. (it doesn't prevent all damage, z moves can still do a ton. psychium lele even has a chance to ohko through protect which is pretty scary for blaziken)
(important to note that it only beats garchomp if a) it's not scarfed and b) if you're using life orb)

Set Details

- 252 Speed and a Hasty Nature guarantees the most speed for Blaziken to outspeed as many threats as possible including Base 90 speed Pokemon that aren’t using a speed boosting nature (i feel like you've missed the point here. the best thing about blaziken is that it can make itself faster than a plethora of threats such as lele, koko and metagross and ohko in return when it has its boost. outspeeding base 90 mons doesn't matter either when you can just protect and be guaranteed to outspeed anyway. really need to capitalise on how blaziken beats those typical threats, as it really is a huge niche to have)
- 252 Special Attack powers up Blaziken’s Blast Burn to make it as strong as possible. (blast burn and hp ice)
- 4 Attack gives Blaziken a small boost to his physical moves like High Jump Kick and Stone Edge (4 attack is so irrelevant that you could honestly just leave it out)
- Life Orb is the preferred item on this set as it boosts all moves 1.3x, allowing Blaziken to secure more OHKOs. (OHKOs on what mons? what does z blast burn OHKO which a standard life orb blast burn won't? there are some very significant calcs to be made here, you need to play around in the calc and give some specific examples of why someone might want to use a z move and why someone might want to use a life orb)
- Firium Z makes Blast Burn into a 200 BP move without a recharge turn allowing Blaziken to break walls. (it breaks walls that are weak to fire, but honestly not much else. if you can find some walls that it breaks that aren't weak to fire, list them for sure. i honestly can't see any)
- Speed Boost is the obvious ability of choice to help Blaziken reach high speeds.

Usage Tips

- Blaziken excels at taking out Steel-types and should be used to discourage the opponent from using them.
- However, make sure to avoid sending in Blaziken on Sturdy pokemon like Donphan and Mimikyu as it has no real way of OHKOing them. (mimikyu isn't a sturdy user, replace mimikyu with golem / magnezone (or both) and mention mimikyu a little afterwards)
- Against faster oponents Blaziken should almost always use Protect or Endure turn 1, so it can outpace them turn 2.
- Against slower opponents, without a scarf, Blaziken should usually just attack to not give them a turn to set up. (not usually, but rather always)
- Blaziken’s best move is Blast Burn, or Inferno Overdrive if using Firium Z, and should be used unless either the opponent resists Fire, is weak to Fighting, or is doubly weak to the coverage move. (this is very self explanatory, it's literally a matter of the player knowing what the opposing mon is weak to. i'd remove this point)
(you're never going to click inferno overdrive vs a charizard, remove that)

Team Options

- Mega Gyarados, Kyurem-B, and Mega Venusaur can defeat Sturdy Pokemon that cause issues for Blaziken. Similarly the first two appreciate Blaziken’s ability to deal with Steel-types. (nice point, though mention how mega gyarados + kyurem-b can break through them due to mold breaker. would also like to see example of sturdy mons)
- Slow Pokemon like Magearna can appreciate Blaziken’s ability to speed control and scare off faster Pokemon: conversely Blaziken appreciates Magearna’s ability to beat Tapu Lele and Mega Slowbro. (list faster pokemon which threaten magearna that blaziken outspeed at +1)
- Grass-types and Electric-types like Kartana and Tapu Koko can help beat Water-types Pokemon like Mega Gyarados and Mega Blastoise. (primarina / fini would be a nice mention here too)

- Flare Blitz is Blaziken's second strongest STAB but is also very useful against popular Steel-types that who's secondary typing resists Fighting moves like Mega Mawile, Magearna, and Mega Metagross (i get what you're trying to say but it's a bit chunky. rephrase to something like "Flare Blitz is the second STAB option and is primarily used to deal with the likes of steel-type pokemon that take neutral damage from High Jump Kick such as Mega-Mawile, Magearna, and Mega-Metagross".)
- Stone Edge is used against Mega Charizard Y
- Protect allows for Mega Blaziken to get to a high speed without taking any damage. (same comment as in the first set)
- Endure also allows Blaziken to safely get a speed boost and capitalizes on recharge moves from Greninja, but also can leave Blaziken susceptible to priority moves.

- Against slower opponents, it's better to just attack first rather than wait. (mention that you don't need to protect which is why you can attack right away)
-
Mega Blaziken's strongest move is High Jump Kick and should be used unless the opponent resists Fighting, is weak to Fire, or is doubly weak to Rock. (this isn't clear enough. I understand what you're trying to say, but it needs to be said in a way that makes sense to even the most nooby users)
- Against Dragon Dance, Quiver Dance, or Substitute users like Mega Charizard X, Volcarona, and Tapu Koko, and Mega Pinsir, it can be better to use an attacking move on their predicted set-up move. (you lose vs zard x unless you crit stone edge / hjk so remove this)

- Sturdy Pokemon like Crustle, Donphan, and Golem also can help beat Mega Charizard X, which Mega Blaziken has difficulty beating (difficulty is an understatement, just say that it loses to those mons)

(mention that this is really good for rockium z golem, since wisp breaks the sturdy and lets you live continental crush. unfortunately, you still lose to groundium z golem and donphan)
- Thunder Punch is a good option to use against Mega Gyarados who don't anticipate it. (it's bad vs mega gyarados because your fighting stab would do more. mention how this is specifically to ohko gyarados that don't chose to mega evolve to avoid being weak to fighting stab)

- Because it will almost always want to use either Protect or Endure turn 1, many Pokemon can predict this and use either Substitute or their own speed boosting move. Mention some mons like Tapu Koko, Mega Lucario, Mega Pinsir can take advantage of this
- Mention some threats to Blaziken Sturdy, bulky water mons like Tapu Fini Primarina, Meloetta, Mega Slowbro, Mega Altaria (Where Sturdy and Water mons being the common ones)

Moves

- Blast Burn is Blaziken’s main attack allowing it to defeat nearly any Steel-type besides Heatran and Magnezone [You defeat other types with Blast Barn as well like Bug Genesect, Megacross and other non SE like Mega Medicham, Koko which resists its other moves, Fire Z is there too so just not Steel
(Greninja only if Scarfed other wise, no reason to pick it over Protect replace with Mega Blastoise which would use Hydro Cannon over Counter)
- Stone Edge allows Blaziken to beat Mega Charizard Y.
- Hidden Power Ice allows Blaziken to beat Landorus-T and Garchomp. (Specify that HP Ice Blaziken defeats Garchomp only when equipped with Life Orb)

- 4 Attack gives Blaziken a small boost to his physical moves like High Jump Kick and Stone Edge (Its so small that it's negligible)
- Life Orb is the preferred item on this set as it boosts all moves 1.3x, allowing Blaziken to secure more OHKOs. Specifically against... Pick the most relevant out of these [Snorlax (252 HP 136 Def Norm Z), Garchomp (Only way it can KO is with LO), Securing HP Ice being a guaranteed OHKO vs Landorus-T (as without this its 25% for Blaziken), Heatran (All sets)]
- Firium Z makes Blast Burn into a 200 BP move without a recharge turn allowing Blaziken to break walls.
- Speed Boost is the obvious ability of choice to help Blaziken reach high speeds. (And outspeed and KO mention or two mons whom Speed Boost after +1 helps in KOing)

Usage Tips

- Blaziken excels at taking out Steel-types and should be used to discourage the opponent from using them.
- However, make sure to avoid sending in Blaziken against Mimikyu and Sturdy Pokemon like Donphan and Golem as it has no real way of OHKOing them. (While they can retaliate with their powerful moves)
- Mention where Life Orb is more useful than Firium Z and vice-versa with mon examples

- Against faster oponents Blaziken should almost always use Protect or Endure turn 1, so it can outpace them turn 2. (This seems to contradict the last point of Usage Tips, reword this or bring up the last one here with this)
- Against slower opponents, without a scarf, Blaziken should usually just attack to not give them a turn to set up.
(I'd leave this for the other members but Porygon-Z Scarfed is mostly Modest and thats the real set so perhaps replace it with Scarf Kyurem-B)
(Replace Zard X with something else here, you're never defeating any Zard X set with this Blaziken set even with Crit, against Volcarona there's no need to think here just Stone Edge)

Team Options

- Mega Gyarados, Kyurem-B, and Mega Venusaur can defeat Sturdy Pokemon such as? that cause issues for Blaziken. Similarly the first two appreciate Blaziken’s ability to deal with Steel-types. like Mega Metagross, Magearna (Also Mega Heracross is not a Steel type but a major threat to both of them so add this in as well)
- Slow Pokemon like Magearna can appreciate Blaziken’s ability to speed control and scare off faster Pokemon: conversely Blaziken appreciates Magearna’s ability to beat Tapu Lele, Mega Altaria and Mega Slowbro.
- Grass-types and Electric-types like Kartana and Tapu Koko can help beat Water-types Pokemon like Mega Gyarados and Mega Blastoise.

[Replace Blaziken with Mega Blaziken in this section where applicable]

(Endure helps vs Greninja only if Greninja is Scarfed and it is helpful against Porygon-Z in the non mega set as that allows it to always defeat Pz here its 328 Speed so need for that, mention something else against which Endure is helpful here)

Set Details
- 252 Speed and a Jolly nature lets Blaziken outspeed almost the entirety of the metagame after one speed boost.
- 252 Attack gives Mega Blaziken as high of an attack stat as possible.

Usage Tips

- Blaziken excels at taking out Steel-types and should be used to discourage the opponent from using them. [This is just the same as the above one. Mega Blaziken is also good in taking Kyurem-B a major threat]
- However, make sure to avoid sending in Blaziken on Sturdy pokemon like Donphan and Mimikyu as it has no real way of OHKOing them. [Sure thing that this needs to convey the same message as in the first set but reword it to avoid repetition something like Refrain from sending Mega Blaze against XYZ Pokemon]
- Against faster oponents Blaziken should almost always use Protect or Endure turn 1, so it can outpace them turn 2.
(You won't defeat Offensive Zard X [No Crit SE] with this set as well, Mega Blaziken can only defeat fully defensive Zard X which lacks Counter and for that you just straightaway Stone Edge without Protect and hope it 2HKOes, Volcarona same)

(Shuca Berry / Balloon Magearna also defeats Sturdy Pokemon like Donphan Golem)
- Sturdy Pokemon like Crustle, Donphan, and Golem also can help beat Mega Charizard X, which Mega Blaziken has difficulty beating (It always loses to Zard X)

- Call it a meme but in my opinion King's Rock Fling should be in here as it allows it to defeat all Sturdy Pokemon against whom it mostly loses. It comes at the cost of being not so good against the remaining ones but getting past a hard counter Sturdy is major
- All these sets lose to Zard X, mention some like Max Atk Life Orb Stone Edge or some Bulk Up or Rock Z or some bulk invested one which defeats Zard X as I've seen it doing on the ladder

Checks and Counters

Add these in Primarina, Fini, Meloetta, Mega Altaria

Sturdy Pokemon:
Because Blaziken can't OHKO them thanks to Sturdy, Pokemon like Crustle, Donphan, and Golem are easily able to beat it.

Add in the main: Scarf Garchomp

Mixed Defensive Walls: Pokemon like Mega Venusaur and Mega Slowbro can withstand Blaziken's moveset with ease and simply wear it out. (Mega Venusaur thanks to its ability Thick Fat)
Covered up mostly everything, missed a few

Good stuff! I'd go for Rock Slide>Stone Edge, though. It picks up all of the same kills but with better accuracy and a 30% chance to win flinch.
