STAB Poison Jab targets Grass-types such as Lilligant and Ludicolo as well as Pokemon resistant to Crunch like Clefairy. Crunch is Skuntank's most powerful STAB option against Pokemon like Froslass, Jellicent, and Oricorio-G. Pursuit enables Skuntank to trap Pokemon weak to its moves such as Mesprit, Haunter, and Oricorio-G. Alternatively, Foul Play is stronger than Crunch against physical attackers like Dodrio, Lycanroc, and Alolan Dugtrio, especially against the former two if they've boosted their Attack. Memento cripples the opposing Pokemon, generates momentum, and provides Pokemon such as Lilligant and Omastar with an opportunity to set up. Explosion opens holes through bulky Pokemon like Mudsdale and Poliwrath while also providing momentum for Skuntank's team.

Set Details
========

Choice Scarf enables Skuntank to outpace Pokemon such as Alolan Raichu, Dodrio, and unboosted Lilligant, acting as a revenge killer with a surprise factor. Using a Jolly nature puts Skuntank above +2 Modest Omastar and Timid Choice Scarf Mesprit, whereas an Adamant nature gives it a considerable increase in firepower, most notably letting it secure an OHKO on Pokemon like Ludicolo and offensive Oricorio-G at the cost of missing out on outspeeding the previously mentioned boosted threats.

Usage Tips
========

Skuntank should aim to revenge kill weakened Pokemon, most notably those weak to its attacks such as Mesprit and Haunter. That said, one should attempt to not reveal Skuntank's item so it can take out Pokemon such as Lycanroc and unboosted Lilligant, as well as Substitute users like Alolan Raichu and Alolan Dugtrio, which all have ways to maneuver around Sucker Punch from other Skuntank sets. Throughout a match, Skuntank can put its utility to use by absorbing Toxic Spikes or trapping foes with Pursuit, as it can switch into predicted Psychic-type moves or resisted hits such as Haunter's Shadow Ball. Take note of when to use Skuntank's Dark-type STAB moves; Crunch is the move of choice against Pokemon with a low Attack stat such as Jynx, Oricorio-G, and Musharna. However, if running Foul Play, it should be used to securely revenge kill boosted Pokemon like Dodrio and Lycanroc, as well as deal more damage to Pokemon with naturally high Attack stats such as Stoutland and Golurk. As a Choice item Pokemon, Skuntank should be cautious of what it locks itself into; for instance, unboosted Pursuit is quite weak and can be exploited by setup sweepers and wallbreakers like Omastar and Crabominable. Poison Jab is unable to touch Steel-types such as Aggron and Alolan Sandslash, which forces Skuntank to switch out entirely. Choice Scarf Skuntank is most effective late-game, as it struggles to break past Pokemon like Mudsdale and Oricorio-E if they're kept healthy. Memento or Explosion can be utilized to sacrifice Skuntank whenever it's no longer needed in order to make the opposing Pokemon vulnerable or weakened, create momentum, and give setup opportunities to the likes of Alolan Raichu, Lilligant, and Dodrio.

Team Options
========

Choice Scarf Skuntank's ability to outpace and eliminate threats like unboosted Lilligant and Alolan Raichu is highly appreciated by the likes of Jellicent and Gurdurr and necessary in order to give setup sweepers such as Omastar and Scyther a chance to set up. Spike setters like Froslass and Qwilfish are great to pair with Skuntank, as they accommodate its inconsistent power. Their ability to wear down foes in tandem with the number of switches Skuntank can force can also aid teammates such as Lilligant and Omastar when they're given an opportunity to sweep with Memento or Explosion. Memento and Explosion can also bring in frailer setup sweepers like Dodrio and Lycanroc more safely, giving them a better chance to sweep late-game. Fighting-types in particular like Gurdurr, Poliwrath, and Hitmonchan thrive off of Skuntank's ability to outspeed and potentially Pursuit trap Psychic- and Ghost-types while also outpacing and taking out Pokemon such as Dodrio. Wallbreakers like Stoutland and Aurorus can defeat Pokemon that Skuntank struggles to get past like Type: Null and Mudsdale and can be given a free switch through Memento or Explosion. Mesprit is an effective partner for Skuntank, as it's able to provide support through Stealth Rock, is immune to Ground-type attacks, checks Fighting-types, and can pivot with U-turn in order to lure in Ghost-types such as Jellicent and Oricorio-G.

  • Memento cripples the opposing Pokemon, generates momentum, and provides Pokemon such as Lilligant and Omastar with an opportunity to set up.
  • Explosion opens holes through bulky Pokemon like Mudsdale and Poliwrath, while also providing momentum for Skuntank's team.

  • Choice Scarf enables Skuntank to outpace Pokemon such as Alolan Raichu, Dodrio, and unboosted Lilligant, acting as a sufficient revenge killer.
  • Using a Jolly nature puts Skuntank above +2 Modest Omastar and timid Choice Scarf Mesprit, wheras an Adamant nature gives it a considerable amount of firepower at the cost of missing out on the aforementioned Pokemon.

Usage Tips

  • Skuntank should aim to revenge kill weakened threats, most notably those weak to Skuntank's attacks such as Mesprit and Oricorio-G. That said, one should attempt to bluff Choice Scarf ??? so Skuntank can take out Pokemon such as Lycanroc, unboosted Lilligant, and Substitute Alolan Raichu, all of which all have ways to manuever around Sucker Punch from other Skuntank sets.
  • Throughout a match, Skuntank can put its utility to use by absorbing Toxic Spikes or trapping foes in with Pursuit, as it can switch into telegraphed Psychic-type moves or resisted hits. could put examples
  • As a choiced Pokemon, be cautious of what Skuntank locks itself into; for instance, Pursuit unboosted is quite weak, which can be exploited by setup sweepers or wallbreakers. Poison Jab is unable to touch Steel-types such as Aggron and Alolan Sandslash, which forces Skuntank to switch out entirely.

Memento or Explosion can be utilized to sacrifice Skuntank whenever it's no longer needed in order to make the opposing Pokemon vulnerable, create momentum, and give setup opportunities to the likes of Alolan Raichu, Lilligant, and Dodrio. also to weaken stuff for a teammate to get past them

  • Mesprit is an effective partner for Skuntank, as it's able to provide support through Stealth Rock, is immune to Ground-type attacks, and can pivot with U-turn in order to lure in Ghost-types such as Jellicent and Oricorio-G. also checks fighting-types
