Teambuilding has always been one of the most important aspects of Pokémon, but it still can be quite difficult to cover the innumerous possibilities of sets and Pokémon you could run into with just a team of six. But as we all know, a problem shared is a problem halved, so joining the OU community together makes identifying threats and finding a solution that much easier when creating a team.

Rules

Every team will be created in stages, where in the first stage, people submit a single Pokémon or a core we will be building the team around and then we vote on which submission will actually consist the team. After we have done this for all six Pokémon, we'll take a look through the team and decide if any coverage moves should be changed or any EV spreads modified, after that, we'll be finally done with the team and start another from scratch.

When submitting please follow these rules:
  • Avoid unviable Pokémon, anything unimportant in the OU scene will have to be ignored, posting an unranked 'mon is fine for as long as you specify its niche and what it accomplishes for the team, but submissions for Pokémon like Dusknoir, Crabominable, or Vikavolt will be excluded from voting.
  • Additionally, avoid unviable sets. Physical Ash Greninja, Timid Kartana, or Merciless Toxapex, for example, will be excluded from voting as well.
  • Make sure to emphasize what your submissions does for the team, submitting a Pokémon only because you like it is not what we're going for here.
  • If someone already posted the Pokémon you wanted to submit please avoid doing so. Unless you post a different set; for example, one person submits Assault Vest Magearna while another person submits Shift Gear Magearna; or one person submits Rock Polish Landorus-T while another person submits Leftovers Landorus-T
You can use this template for Submissions:

Name of the Pokemon: Mega Diancie
Set:
Diancie @ Diancite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Moonblast
- Diamond Storm
- Hidden Power Fire
- Earth Power
Rationale: I chose Mega Diancie because...

When voting please follow these rules:
  • Please vote for only one option. If you vote for more then one submission your vote will not be counted.
  • If possible try to give a brief explanation on why you are voting for the submission you're voting for.
  • Don't vote for your own submissions. If you do your vote will not count.
When proposing changes please follow these rules:
  • Give an explanation on why to change what you're proposing to change, even if it is a simple EV spread modification or anything, don't just pull a list of suggestions and not explain your reasoning behind it.
  • Please share your thoughts on other people's propositions, this allows for healthy discussion and more optimal teams.
  • Don't try to vote for changes or something, I'll do it myself but considering everyone's suggestions.

We will be finding our 3rd partner for Blacephalon + Mega Mawile, feel free to propose any Pokemon (with a reason why it should be the next member of the team) The deadline to post will be due Friday the 29th.

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- U-turn

Since we don't appear to be carrying over nominations from the previous thread, I'd like to reiterate a previous nomination of Defensive Landorus-T. Lando is an easy fit for the team thus far, providing a ground immunity, rocks setter, and slow pivot for our wallbreakers to take advantage of. Set is pretty standard, but since this is Lando, we can easily re-adjust it for anything our team may need in the future.

Cool to see this thread get picked back up again, gl putting up with our shit Jord-e :toast:

Name of the Pokemon: SubGlow Manaphy
Set:
Manaphy @ Leftovers
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 100 HP / 156 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Tail Glow
- Ice Beam
- Surf
Rationale: I chose Manaphy because it is a great niche sweeper. The other members of the team, Blacephalon and Mawile, both die to Ground-types and are exceedingly frail. Manaphy has reasonable bulk and good attacking stats (Base 100 in all), and when behind a Sub, can throw an opponent totally off guard. If you can get the Sub up on an opponent's mis-play, you get a free Tail Glow and immunity to any status move (T-Wave cripples this mon). Whatever doesn't die to a +3 Surf (e.g. Kyurem, Kingdra, Dragonite, Tangrowth, Pelipper, etc.) probably takes a heck of a lot from a +3 Ice Beam.

I was tempted to run Grass Knot or Energy Ball for Gren or Mega Swampert, but I think Ice Beam covers a lot more threats to Mawile and Blasty (cough cough Lando cough cough). Unfortunately, with Blasty on the team, Rain won't do much (unless it's Z-Mind Blown or Specs) and Manaphy's ability does jack squat. Who needs an ability with 825 Sp. Attack, though?

Name of the Pokemon: Specially Defensive Ferrothorn
Set:
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 48 Def / 208 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Stealth Rock / Spikes / Thunder Wave
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip / Protect

Rationale:
Mega Mawile and Blacephalon are indeed both weak to ground attacks from the likes of Landorus-Therian, Zygarde, and Garchomp, who are very prominent in the USM OU metagame as of now. But even more so, they are weak to Ash-Greninja + Specs, who can easily wipe these two out with Hydro Miss (lol). SpDef Ferrothorn remedies that, with this set being able survive the 2HKO from Dark Pulse (from a Specs Ash Gren) after rocks, and set up hazards or Leech Seed (or potential status conditions) in it's face. It also fares well versus Landorus-Therian and Zygarde, being able to tank up a +2 Earthquake, and Leech Seed for recovery (especially if running Protect). All in all, a very solid partner for the aforementioned two Pokemon, and it provides amazing support as well.

Name of Pokemon: AV Tapu Bulu
Tapu Bulu @ Assault Vest
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 60 Atk / 56 SpD / 144 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Horn Leech
- Wood Hammer
- Superpower
- Nature's Madness

Rationale: I chose Tapu Bulu is because it provides passive recovery to both Mega Mawile and Blacephalon with its ability since they have no form of recovery and reduce Earthquake damage for the two and future team members on the team. AV let’s Bulu eat up some special attacks and also can change terrains for the team. Tapu Bulu, Mawile, & Blacephalon cover each others weakness decently well.

Latios @ Soul Dew
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Psychic
- Roost
- Defog

Honestly, I'm completely confused as to the significance behind Blacephalon + Mawile (as a starting point to the team)---seems like you just put two random breakers together that benefit from eachothers presence pretty minimally (all I can think of is Mawile getting a free hit after Tar trraps Blacephalon, but thats a bad idea for a breaker duo since breakers need far more than one opening to do well).

Anyway, this build is constrained as hell since it's kinda just two random breakers that don't do much outside of break + hazard control is mandatory (and the Mega slot is used up). There realistically is no other good option aside from Latios given what is already on the team; can't use Scizor because of Mawile, SD Fog Kart is super redundant with two enormous breakers and doesn't offer the defensive utility that Blace / Maw will need, Gliscor will not fit on a team this offensive, and Defog Rotom would leave the team strapped for role compression (after Rotom, you need a scarfer, a Zyg/Lop check, and a Lele/A-Gren/Koko check, so likely AV Mag/Lando/Scarf Tios, but Scarf Defog with Blace is gross and Latios is not sufficient to check Volcarona since Psyshock only kills if Volc ate rocks).

You definitely need to build from the biggest constraining factor (hazard removal options) since hazard removal is pretty important for Blace (otherwise you're tacking on an important role to something like Scarf Kartana later and then your team is just ass). Alongside Defog, Latios can scare off Pex, which is pretty annoying for Blace and no T-Punch Maw. Keldeo is also covered by Latios, which isn't ORAS-levels of prevalent, but still around sometimes, which Latios can pretty comfortably deal with now that Specs Keldeo is dead.

Rest of the team should probably be something like AV Magearna / defensive fast Lando (invested to creep Ada Zyg, which also lets it EQ Timid Heatran) / Scarf Keldeo (need a water to switch into Heatran and also makes it harder for A-Gren to activate Battle Bond). You can't give up the role compression of AV Mag / Defensive Lando here at all since the starting point is so non-synergistic and lacking in threat coverage IMO.

For refference u can look at the original thread as to why Blacephalon + Mega Mawile are the current Pokemon.

Tapu Fini @ Leftovers
Ability: Misty Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 192 Def / 16 SpD / 52 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

- Moonblast

Fini avoids mawile from getting burned while setting up, also it is a nice support that keeps stall teams in check (excepting M-Saur ones) and works as a nice defogger, it also mawile´s fire weakness better than blacephaloon does.

This is not the submission stage anymore, sorry but this is rejected.

Win goes out to VoidPL with their AV Tapu Bulu submission
Landorus-T - 1
Manaphy - 0
Ferrothorn - 0
Tapu Bulu - 4
Latios - 3

Time for round 4, it'd probably be useful to get hazard removal or a hazard setter this time around.
