Gourgeist-Super @ Leftovers
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Leech Seed
- Synthesis
- Seed Bomb / Foul Play / Rock Slide

Diancie @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Diamond Storm
- Moonblast
- Heal Bell

Cheryl. Posted this in the good cores thread and gave a more in depth analysis but I'll make it short and sweet. Gourgeist-XL is one of the best SD Virizion counters at the moment which is the premier threat after the ttrum and mlix ban. Diancie shares almost perfect defensive synergy with Gourgeist. Gourgeist resist Ground and Water type attacks and puts less stress on Diancie to check Fighting-types. Diancie checks Fire, Dark, and Flying-types for Gour.

You may now post threats till the 14

Magneton @ Choice Specs
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest/Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power Ice

252+ SpA Choice Specs Magneton Flash Cannon vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Gourgeist-Super: 258-304 (69.1 - 81.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Choice Specs Magneton Flash Cannon vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Diancie: 436-520 (143.4 - 171%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Specs Mag clicks flash cannon 3 times and kills both diancie and jack-o-lantern. Easy.

EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Blizzard
- Wood Hammer
- Ice Shard
- Focus Blast / Earthquake

Abomasnow wrecks this core pretty hard, with Wood Hammer + Ice Shard picking off Diancie while Blizzard destroys Gourgeist.

4 Atk Life Orb Abomasnow Wood Hammer vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Diancie: 221-265 (72.6 - 87.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after hail damage and Leftovers recovery

Emboar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Superpower
- Wild Charge
- Heavy Slam

Heavy Slams Diancie and Flare Blitzes Gourgeist, Emboar can easily pick off one member of the core and then pick off the other member later (preferably Diancie first, that has a lower chance of switching out)

Gourgeist:
252 Atk Reckless Emboar Flare Blitz vs. 248 HP / 60+ Def Gourgeist-Super: 330-390 (88.4 - 104.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock (This is 25% chance to OHKO without Rocks up)

Diancie:
252 Atk Emboar Heavy Slam (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Diancie: 356-420 (117.1 - 138.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

OR

Absol @ Life Orb
Ability: Super Luck
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Superpower

Now you would think that diancie soaks up a hit or a couple from absol, in which it does but it cant fare well against iron tail variants as that 4x weakness to steel is an unfortunate issue. Absol can easily take advantage of that weakness and simply click iron tail as it outspeeds. Gourgeist would definitely not like a knock off as it does a very large amount of damage, having a small chance to ohko after rocks but you take a large chunk of its hp away. But yea absol is a threat to this core. But it cannot obviously switch in on a moonblast from diancie and wisp from gourgeist is annoying as it gets crippled. Those are some things to think about when using this against the core, also reasons why this is more of a check. Due to its frailty it can't really soak up hits from them. SD absol too can threaten this core as +2 superpower from it can dent diancie severely, having a very good chance to ohko with rocks support. Gourgeist obviously drops to a +2 knock off or just takes a lot if absol is burned even factoring in that boost.

252+ Atk Life Orb Absol Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gourgeist-Super: 283-338 (75.6 - 90.3%) -- 25% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

252+ Atk Life Orb Absol Iron Tail vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Diancie: 442-520 (145.3 - 171%) -- guaranteed OHKO

0 Atk Gourgeist-Super Seed Bomb vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Absol: 130-154 (47.9 - 56.8%) -- 89.1% chance to 2HKO

0 SpA Diancie Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 4- SpD Absol: 342-404 (126.1 - 149%) -- guaranteed OHKO

0 Atk Diancie Diamond Storm vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Absol: 163-193 (60.1 - 71.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

+2 252+ Atk Life Orb Absol Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gourgeist-Super: 569-671 (152.1 - 179.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+2 0 Atk Gourgeist-Super Foul Play vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Absol: 172-202 (63.4 - 74.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
(assuming its the SD absol variant that is)

+2 252+ Atk Life Orb Absol Superpower vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Diancie: 261-308 (85.8 - 101.3%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Just got to a wifi cafe, so I'm just gonna drop this here while I can lmao

Venusaur @ Life Orb
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Sludge Bomb
- Synthesis
- Sleep Powder

Venusaur obliterates this core pretty well with its STAB moves and can cripple checks on the team that they're used on with sleep powder. Venusaur can switch into Gourgiest indefinitely and takes jack shit from its coverage moves. When going 1v1 vs Gourgeist, you out damage its recovery+lefties by about 3-14%, and coupled with sludge bomb's 30% chance to poison, makes it very easy to break through gourgeist, especially if it switches in to you. When vs Diancie, you do enough to ohko after just a little bit of chip damage (rocks work for this), and diancie doesn't 2HKO with diamond storm, so you'll be fine vs it.
252+ SpA Life Orb Venusaur Leaf Storm vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Diancie: 273-322 (89.8 - 105.9%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO
252+ SpA Life Orb Venusaur Sludge Bomb vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Gourgeist-Super: 220-261 (58.8 - 69.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 Atk Diancie Diamond Storm vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Venusaur: 127-150 (42.1 - 49.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
0 Atk Gourgeist-Super Rock Slide vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Venusaur: 63-75 (20.9 - 24.9%) -- guaranteed 5HKO

Delphox @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Psychic
- Dazzling Gleam
- Trick

Anything that threatens this core can be revenge killed by Delphox. Delphox pressures Steels that pressure Diancie, Poisons that pressure Gourgeist, and can lure in Iron Tail Absol (and other Dark-types), which is nice.
252 SpA Delphox Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Abomasnow: 748-888 (233 - 276.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO (did I really need to calc this?)

252 SpA Delphox Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Magneton: 438-516 (181.7 - 214.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 SpA Delphox Dazzling Gleam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Absol: 238-282 (87.8 - 104%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock (Diancie provides rocks)

252 SpA Delphox Psychic vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Emboar: 380-450 (105.2 - 124.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 SpA Delphox Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Venusaur: 330-390 (109.6 - 129.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO (Psychic OHKOes after rocks)

Scyther @ Choice Band

Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Aerial Ace
- Knock Off
- Bug Bite

Magneton @ Choice Specs
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def / 30 SpA
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Water]

New core, the main focus of this core is to help chip down the opponent as much as possible.Scyther can KO Grass-types coming in and sponging Volt Switch (most notably Tangrowth) and Magneton can lure in checks to both like Mega Camerupt and Rhyperior with Hidden Power Water.

The deadline is the 23'rd

Hitmonlee @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Knock Off
- Stone Edge
- Close Combat

Normally fighting types wouldn't be a very big threat to this core, but Scarf Hitmonlee commonly carries Stone Edge, which allows it to beat Scyther. Magneton is beaten with HJK. This obviously has a case of Scarf Syndrome where it will have to switch out before it can deal with the second member of the core but it most likely will beat the core throughout the match, because the effectiveness of VoltTurn is greatly reduced when one of the pivoting members faints.

I could have just submitted a fast Fire type but I don't want to double post Scarf Delphox so yeah someone else will probably do that lol

252 Atk Hitmonlee Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Scyther: 496-584 (176.5 - 207.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 Atk Reckless Hitmonlee High Jump Kick vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Magneton: 504-594 (209.1 - 246.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

hmm now this is a interesting core. the defensive synergy of the duo is pretty good:

what stands out to me are fire types, though scyther can pressure most of them as it does outpace all. Delphox is the most dangerous because it commonly holds a choice scarf. the volturn nature of this core also makes it insanely weak to rockers like rhyperior and seismitoad mostly because scyther is a horrible ground resist, but since this thread is more of a project (bleh !) than a discussion, ill talk about just one mon.

Delphox @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Psychic
- Grass Knot
- Trick

The core has major issues with fire types. Bar Camerupt, once they come in on Magneton, its a free kill. This is true for all but Delphox, who with Choice Scarf can do the same on Scyther. Fire Blast is a clean OHKO on both Magneton and Scyther obviously. If I were to use this core I would definitely use a fire resistance!

Emboar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Superpower
- Filler
- Filler

Can't really get any calcs on mobile, so I'll just say what I know from experience. Flare blitz easily OHKOs both members of the core and superpower can be used vs magneton to preserve HP. Emboar can come in on any move from Scyther and flash cannon from magneton, so it is a huge threat to the core and can easily beat it the second that it gets in.

Yokatta...
Dugtrio @ Life Orb
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Aerial Ace
- Pursuit

Dugtrio is very threatening to this core. It outspeeds both Magneton and Scyther, can OHKO both, and traps Magneton. Stone Edge isn't specifically for Scyther; it prevents Fletchinder and Sigilyph from setting up on Dugtrio and hits Braviary and Aerodactyl (sadly doesn't actually help it trap anything). Pursuit is just for Hoopa but you could run just about anything you want to in the fourth moveslot with options like Toxic and Sucker Punch.
252 Atk Life Orb Dugtrio Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Magneton: 645-764 (267.6 - 317%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 Atk Life Orb Dugtrio Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Scyther: 494-582 (175.8 - 207.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Xatu @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Night Shade
- U-turn
- Roost
- Toxic

Can't really post a pic since I'm on mobile, but xatu is actually a really solid partner for the core. It can maintain momentum with u-turn to keep a VoltTurn theme going while also preventing hazards with magic bounce so that Scyther can come in as much as possible.

New core !_!

Gurdurr @ Eviolite
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- Knock Off
- Bulk Up

Steelix @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful / Sassy Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Heavy Slam / Gyro Ball
- Earthquake
- Toxic

Drapion @ Choice Band
Ability: Sniper
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Poison Jab
- Pursuit
- Ice Fang

Gurdurr is a good Bulk Up sweeper but struggles with Fairies. Steelix checks them + Braviary and Fletchinder with Roar and Stealth Rock of course Toxic can also be used. These two struggle with Psychic-types so Banded Drapion comes in while also luring Flygon, you could use other coverage but most of the other targets are set up bait for Gurdurr. Fuck Toxic.

Threats are due July 4'th

- Fire Blast

- Grass Knot

Delphox fucks this core in the butt, being able to outspeed and OHKO all three of these mons.

252 SpA Life Orb Delphox Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Steelix: 400-476 (112.9 - 134.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Life Orb Delphox Psychic vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Eviolite Gurdurr: 400-476 (106.9 - 127.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Life Orb Delphox Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Drapion: 270-320 (96 - 113.8%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO

Poliwrath @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Scald
- Circle Throw
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

This core cant literally break through this. Steelix and drapion cant do absolutely nothing to it and gurdurr get circle thrown, ensuring that poliwrath isnt bait for gurdurr, unless last mon scenario ofc.

252 Atk Choice Band Drapion Poison Jab vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Poliwrath: 114-135 (29.6 - 35.1%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

MFW. Grass type needed here.

Registeel @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave
- Protect
- Stealth Rock

Alomomola @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 120 HP / 136 Def / 252 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Wish
- Protect
- Scald
- Toxic

This core pretty much defines balance as an archetype. RegiMola is a common defensive backbone to many teams as the provide a lot of utility with speed control, stealth rock, and wish. On top of that they have near perfect synergy defensively and choiced wallbreakers struggle to pick proper coverage to hit both at the same time, further proven that the move can be scouted by Protect.

Post threats by the 12'th

Virizion @ Lum Berry
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Stone Edge
- Close Combat

252 Atk Virizion Leaf Blade vs. 120 HP / 136+ Def Alomomola: 216-254 (43.1 - 50.6%) -- 49.2% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Virizion Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Registeel: 216-254 (59.3 - 69.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

+2 of either of these attacks will KO. If not at +2, it's in favor to 2HKO (especially with Spikes, too) and will threaten the core. Not choiced so prediction is easy and Virizion will come out on top. Just has to worry about the Thunder Wave -> Scald or if Lum Berry's been broken already. Other than that, Virizion is golden.
