Earthquake is Excadrill's main STAB move that hits common Pokemon such as Heatran, Toxapex, and Tapu Koko for super effective damage. Thanks to Mold Breaker, it also hits Levitate Pokemon such as Latios, Mega Latias, and Rotom-W, hitting the latter super effectively. Iron Head is a secondary STAB move that hits Fairy-types such as Clefable, Tapu Lele, and Tapu Bulu for super effective damage and OHKOes Mega Diancie when it has +2 Defense. Iron Head also OHKOes Mimikyu through Disguise thanks to Mold Breaker. Rapid Spin clears every type of entry hazard from Excadrill's side of the field, which is Excadrill's main niche over other Choice Scarf users like Infernape and Keldeo. Rock Slide hits Mega Charizard Y, Zapdos, Mantine, Pelipper, and Mega Pinsir super effectively while also netting neutral coverage on Celesteela and Skarmory. Toxic is another option in the final moveslot to cripple Pokemon such as Tangrowth, Landorus-T, Zapdos, and Mantine on the switch. It also hits Mega Sableye through Magic Bounce thanks to Mold Breaker. Stealth Rock is also a decent option in the final slot because Excadrill can set it up freely against Magic Bounce users like Mega Sableye and Mega Diancie, and Excadrill's high Speed stat with a Choice Scarf means it's pretty reliable at setting Stealth Rock up.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack and Speed investment allows Excadrill to hit as hard and fast as possible, and a Jolly nature is used to outspeed Mega Alakazam and Mega Aerodactyl. Mold Breaker is the best ability Excadrill can use on a Choice Scarf set because it allows Excadrill to hit Levitate Pokemon with Earthquake and use Toxic against Mega Sableye. Choice Scarf is what gives Excadrill its revenge killing niche, making it faster than the entire unboosted metagame.

Usage Tips
========

Earthquake isn't really a spammable move because of the prevalence of Pokemon that are immune or resistant to it, such as Landorus-T, Tangrowth, and Mega Charizard Y; it should only be used to clean weakened teams late-game. Pokemon such as Skarmory, Celesteela, and defensive Landorus-T are hard counters to this Excadrill set, so doubling into a teammate on an obvious switch should be done to retain momentum. If necessary, Excadrill can be brought directly in on Pokemon such as Mega Diancie, Tapu Lele, and Mega Mawile, but its mediocre bulk means it can only really switch into these Pokemon once at most. If there's a large number of entry hazards on your side of the field and you need to remove them, sacrificing Excadrill to clear them is often a good thing to do.

Team Options
========

Excadrill struggles with the presence of Pokemon such as Landorus-T, Tangrowth, Celesteela, and Skarmory. Heatran can get free turns on Celesteela and Skarmory, provide a secondary check to Pokemon such as Tapu Lele and Mega Mawile, and check Fire-types for Excadrill by virtue of Flash Fire. Water-types like Keldeo and Manaphy can deal with Landorus-T, and Fire-types like Mega Charizard Y are great at taking advantage of Tangrowth. Excadrill isn't a great solitary check to the likes of Tapu Lele, Latios, and Mega Mawile, so it needs teammates that actually consistently deal with these Pokemon. Magearna is great at dealing with Tapu Lele and Latios; however, it does stack Ground and Fire weaknesses with Excadrill. There really isn't much in OU that consistently deals with Mega Mawile, but Pokemon such as Landorus-T and Garchomp are able to soft check it. Entry hazard-weak Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y, Zapdos, Dragonite, Mega Pinsir, and Weavile pair well with Excadrill because they appreciate its spinning abilities.

  • Mention how Iron Head can OHKO Mimikyu through Diguise, something no other Pokemon can do other than Kyurem-B.
  • Add Landorus-T to Toxic targets
  • Add D-Nite and Mega Pinsir to teammates considering Scarf Exca is a very common teammate on Hyper Offense and removes SR for them

Looks good overall. Pretty cut-and-dry and explains relevant targets that the Scarf set should aim to tackle. Even though it's kind of meh, it is nice that Iron Head KOes Mimikyu through Disguise since it's kind of a pain for HO sometimes.

3/3.

amcheck, you don't have to implement this and it doesn't count as an official GP check unless stamped by a GP member

Thanks to Mold Breaker, it also hits Levitate Pokemon (some minor clarification) such as Latios, Mega Latias, and Rotom-W, hitting the latter super effectively. Rapid Spin clears every type of entry hazard from Excadrill's team side of the field, which is Excadrill's main niche over other Choice Scarf users like Latios (doesn't this run Defog?) and Keldeo. Rock Slide hits Mega Charizard Y, Zapdos, Mantine, Pelipper, and Mega Pinsir super effectively while also netting neutral coverage on Celesteela and Skarmory. Earthquake isn't really a spammable move in the current metagame because of the prevalence of Pokemon that are immune or resistant to it, such as Landorus-T, Tangrowth, and Mega Charizard Y.; (period -> semicolon) it should only be used to clean weakened teams late- (AH)game. Pokemon such as Skarmory, Celesteela, and defensive Landorus-T are hard counters to this Excadrill set, so doubling into a teammate on an obvious switch should be done to retain momentum. If necessary, Excadrill can be brought directly in on Pokemon such as Mega Diancie, Tapu Lele, and Mega Mawile, but its not-so-great bulk means it can only really switch into these Pokemon once at most. If there's a large amount of entry hazards on your side of the field and you need to remove them, sacrificing Excadrill to clear them is often a good thing to do.

Heatran can get free turns on Celesteela and Skarmory, provides a secondary check to Pokemon such as Tapu Lele and Mega Mawile, and provides a Fire immunity can check Fire-types (feel free to reword this in a different way, but we don't allow '[type] immunity' when referring to Pokemon) for Excadrill. Water-types like Keldeo and Manaphy can deal with Landorus-T, and Fire-types like Mega Charizard Y are great at abusing taking advantage of Tangrowth. Excadrill isn't a great solitary check to the likes of Tapu Lele, Latios, and Mega Mawile, so Excadrill it needs secondary teammates (no such thing as a 'secondary teammate', we don't discriminate: all teammates are equal) that actually consistently deal with these Pokemon. Magearna is great at dealing with Tapu Lele and Latios; however, it does stack Ground and Fire weaknesses with Excadrill. There really isn't much in OU that consistently deals with Mega Mawile, (AC) but Pokemon such as Landorus-T and Garchomp are able to soft check it. "amount of entry hazards" -> "number of entry hazards" since they're countable

imo the "provides a Fire immunity" part was fine as is. the usual problem when people use immunity is that they are saying the pokemon is literally an immunity, which isn't true. but a pokemon can provide an immunity, just like a pokemon can provide entry hazards or Wish support or something. so:

Heatran is a Fire immunity = bad
Heatran provides a Fire immunity = ok

otherwise that was good for GP 1/2
