Well, here is my room:

As you can see, the beige is pretty dreary and dull. I want to spice it up! I really like the idea of RED for the entire room, and then White or Black where my JH poster is, in that section. (where my bed is)

Either that or option #4, which is the Black/White stripes....really cool!
So yea Smogon. I'd appreciate some help on this. Anyone got experience with painting a room?

I think it is a mistake to think that a wall will spice up a room whatever colour you make it. Walls are boring, they should not be focused on. If you want to make your room interesting, the walls can be used to hang interesting things on.

I say white.

Have a nice day.

It's worth noting that the color looks good in those example pictures because the furniture compliments it perfectly, something you are not going to achieve with your room. Still, repainting it will definitely going to improve the look of it.

I agree with Hip to a degree, it's not the color that makes the room. However, white can be sort of dull if you don't have much to do with it (though it'd definitely be an improvement over what you got); I think black and white can work very well if you manage it properly (may want to consider a new bedspread). I think stripes can work too but that'll be a pain to paint, but if you have the patience go for it (I think it'd drive me crazy after awhile personally). I'm no professional though so take it for what its worth, voting white because its tried and true or black/white because it will work in your room..

I think when painting a room White is perhapes the best colour you can have. Do NOT go for a plan black room. The reason for this is that it can provoke the illusion of less space, dullness etc. Black and White can be o.k but personally I would stick with White.

When my family were renovating our house I think that pretty much every room is white. However my parents can all of us the opportunity to do a 'feature wall' in our room where we could pick a wall and make it any colour we want. Personally I think that this was a great idea since you can express your individuality while not going overboard and screwing you room around too much. Anyway though its like how Hip said. Walls are for hanging things on so really its up to you.

That red black and white sticks out over all the rest, but that's mostly because the furniture coordinated with the walls. So whatever you do, yeah, the wall itself won't spice up the room. But that red black and white is boss.

Red black and white was the best picture there, though not simply because of the walls. Whatever you do, don't pick the vertical stripes one-that looked atrocious.

Don't paint it all black, that's for emos.

Maybe the photos are underexposed, but it looks like the room is underlit. I'd fix that first. This could be as simple as

How about white walls and door, red shutters, and black pillars and skirting.
