Florges [QC: 1/3]

hs

Banned deucer.
[OVERVIEW]

*Florges has a decent defensive typing that allows it to be a somewhat reliable defogger and check things such as Dragon-types in general.

*Even without any investment, Florges's Special Attack makes it harder for opposing Pokémon to use it as a setup fodder. However, Florges will still struggle to damage some pokémon such as Doublade and stuff.

*In comparision to other Fairy-type defoggers, Florges isn't weak to Stealth Rock, unlike Togekiss, which makes Florges harder to pressure offensively, and it doesn't waste a mega-slot like Altaria-Mega.

*Unfortunately, Florges can usually suffer from four-moveslot syndrome, as it needs a plethora of moves, meaning it will miss some important move.

*Florges faces competition from Fairy-types, such as Sylveon, which passes more wishes, and hits harder, thanks to its stronger STAB in Pixilate-boosted Hyper Voice, making it harder to use it as a setup fodder. However, Florges's 1turn recovery and higher speed-tier make it a better option for offensive teams.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

*Moonblast is Florges's STAB attack that takes advantage of its decent Special Attack, and allows it to hit Pokemon such as -Dark and Dragon-types in general.
*Synthesis is used as an instant recovery that allows Florges to forego Protect and have a slot for Aromatherapy while Wish.
*Wish is used as an alternative to Synthesis, and it allows Florges to act as a solid Cleric, healing up itself or its teammates.
*Defog allows Florges to support its team getting rid of hazards for its teammates. Aromatherapy removes status from itself and its teammates.
*Hidden Power Fire is an option to deal with Steel-types, such as Scizor and Doublade.

Set Details
========

*Maximum investment in Defense and HP along with Bold Nature helps it to check physical threats such as Mega Altaria, Krookodile, and Mega Sharpedo.
*Even with any investment, Florges's Special Defense is relatively high, so it's unnecessary to invest.
*Leftovers provides it passive recovery that makes it easier to check stuff.
*A spread of 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spd with a Calm Nature can be used to pivot in on stuff like Manectric and Kyurem more easily.

Usage Tips
========

*Use Florges primarily as a Fighting-, Dark-, and Dragon-type checks, such as Hydreigon. Though, Florges must be careful with coverage moves, like Steelium Z Krookodile or Iron Tail Hydreigon.
*Protect should be used to scout potential Choiced-attackers and movesets. It also can be used to receive its own wish safely.

Team Options
========

*Florges fits well on bulky offense that appreciates the Wish support and the check to Hydreigon, Mega Sharpedo, etc.
*Fire-, Poison- and Steel-types, such as Chandelure, Mega Beedrill and Scizor, can seriosuly threaten Florges, so Ground-types that can deal with them, such as Gliscor and Krookodile, are good teammates for it.
*If you aren't carrying Aromatherapy, Poison-types that can absorb Toxic Spikes, such as Nidoqueen and Alolan Muk are very appreciated, once Florges is hard pressed, which isn't good for a defogger.
*Pokemon that doesn't enjoy status condition are good partners for it, as they appreciate Florges's support. Bulky Water-types such as Swampert and Vincune can deal with Steel-types that can threaten Florges, as well as Fire-types.
*Florges should be paired with stuff like Defog Rotom to keep hazards off the field, as Florges loses to every rock setter, so it almost never be a teams's sole Defogger.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

*Its access to Energy Ball makes easier against Ground- and Water-types, but it's only useful for this.
*Calm Mind can be used, but there's no real reason to use CM Florges, as Togekiss and Mega Altaria perform the roll much better.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-, Steel- and Poison-types**: Fire-, Steel- and Poison-types such as Chandelure, Scizor and Nidoqueen can resist to Florges's STAB, and can threaten with its STABs or simply use Florges as a setup fodder, due to its passivity.

**Taunt**: Florges can't do much against Taunt-users, such as Crobat and Gliscor, as Florges can't exercise its function.

**Strong Physical Attackers**: Due to Florges's poor defense, it will struggles to strong physical threats, such as Scizor and Heracross.

move 3: Wish / Defog

That should be the main set. Protect shouldn't be used on Florges when it has Synthesis. Defog should also be a last resort move since it literally does not beat any rocker besides pert and toad (even those are difficult). HP Fire definitely deserves a main slash. In Set Details, mention a spread of 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 SpD with a Calm Nature to pivot in on stuff like Manectric and Kyurem more easily.

Team Options: Say that Florges fits on bulky offense that appreciates the check to Hydreigon, Mega Sharpedo, etc, and Wish support. Mention that Florges should almost never be a team's sole Defogger because it loses to every rock setter, and that it should be paired with something like Defog Rotom to keep hazards off the field reliably.

Calm Mind shouldn't be a main set, so just remove that entirely and add Calm Mind to OO. Togekiss and Mega Altaria perform the roll much better and there's no real reason to use CM Florges.

Not yet, you haven't updated the sections to reflect the change in moves yet (protect is still mentioned twice, the Moves bullet points are out of order, etc., HP Fire is still in OO, etc)

In the overview, revise the last bullet point to say that while sylveon does pass bigger wishes, florges's 1turn recovery and higher speed make it a better option for offensive teams.

Implement that and then it'll be 1/3

Overview

The first bullet point should specify that Florges's defensive typing grants it resistances to multiple common offensive types (Dragon, Fighting, Dark, etc.) and focus more on its ability to serve as a defensive utility Pokemon with access to Wish, Aromatherapy, and Defog. Right now, this bullet point makes it sound like Florges's main purpose is Defogging, which really isn't true. You should also mention that its impressive special bulk lets it take hits from a significant number of the tier's special attackers, even without investment.

Either give more examples of Pokemon that Florges struggles to damage or just say it deals limited damage to Pokemon that resist its STAB.

Either say that it faces competition from Sylveon (instead of from other Fairy-types) or explain which Fairy-types it faces competition from and why.

Moves

All moves should have separate bullet points.

Usage Tips

Expand your usage tips. Talk about when to use Wish over Synthesis and vice versa. Remove the bullet point about Protect.

Team Options

Mention Steel-types as partners, as they can check the Poison-types that Florges struggles with, as well as other Steel-types (Doublade checks Cobalion and Scizor, Scizor can muscle past Mega Aggron with boosted Superpower, etc.) and explain what in particular any examples you give contribute to Florges's ability to serve its function.

"Pokemon that doesn't enjoy status condition are good partners for it, as they appreciate Florges's support." is kind of unnecessary, since you're basically saying "build a weakness into your team so that Florges has a purpose". Instead, the value of Florges's cleric support would be mentioned in other analyses as a partner for those other Pokemon. You can certainly talk about Pokemon that appreciate Florges's support option, but should be sure to explain what those Pokemon do for Florges.

Other Options

Give Psychic a bullet point. It's more useful than Energy Ball, since it lets you hit Poison-types that resist Moonblast. Calm Mind should be the first bullet point.

QC 2/3 once all of this is implemented.
