Garchomp @ Life Orb
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Scale Shot / Stealth Rock / Poison Jab
Garchomp is one of OU's finest balance breakers thanks to its monstrous Attack stat, access to Swords Dance, and solid coverage. Swords Dance allows Garchomp to become a powerful wallbreaker and overwhelm Pokemon such as Swampert, Ferrothorn, and Slowbro. Stone Edge hits Pokemon such as Zapdos, Mandibuzz, Moltres, and Tornadus-T. Scale Shot is its Dragon-type STAB that boosts its Speed, allowing Garchomp to become a late-game sweeper, in addition to hitting both Latios and Latias. Garchomp is also a reliable Stealth Rock setter, as it is able to pressure common Defoggers such as Zapdos, Mandibuzz, and Moltres. Additionally, Poison Jab allows Garchomp to hit Tapu Fini, Clefable, and Hatterene and is able to OHKO them after a Swords Dance boost. Teammates such as Tornadus-T, Zapdos, and Moltres are able to threaten Pokemon such as Buzzwole and Corviknight, which are able to take on Garchomp. Steel-types such as Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Corviknight are great partners, as they are able to patch up Garchomp's weaknesses to pivot in against Fairy- and Ice-type attacks.
