VGC Gholdengo

[OVERVIEW]

* Gholdengo has solid stats all around, most notably a high Special Attack stat, as well as an amazing typing. This means it can be used as a setup sweeper with Nasty Plot. A well-positioned Gholdengo can beat Flutter Mane, Latias, Tornadus, and Iron Crown.

* Gholdengo appreciates Pokemon that help it set up, so good partners are redirectors like Amoonguss and Ogerpon, Fake Out users like Rillaboom and Incineroar, and Pokemon with Intimidate like Landorus-T and Incineroar, which all create free turns and increase Gholdengo's longevity.

*Tornadus is a great partner for Gholdengo, providing speed control to better answer faster threats like Flutter Mane. Urshifu-R and Landorus are also pair well with it, since they can threaten Pokemn that resist Make It Rain like Incineroar.

* Gholdengo loves to Terastalize to deal with common threats like Landorus, Incineroar, Flutter Mane, and Chien-Pao which all threaten to OHKO it otherwise. This gives Gholdengo free turns to set up Nasty Plot.

Nasty Plot (Gholdengo) @ Leftovers
Level: 50
Ability: Good as Gold
EVs: 244 HP / 4 Def / 132 SpA / 4 SpD / 124 Spe
IVs: 0 Atk
Tera Type: Dragon/Water
Modest Nature
- Make It Rain
- Shadow Ball
- Nasty Plot
- Protect
[SET COMMENTS]

* Make It Rain is used for powerful STAB damage, and Shadow Ball is used as Gholdengo's Ghost-type STAB move.

* The item used is Leftovers so Gholdengo can stay on the field for longer.

* The bulk investment allows Gholdengo to almost always survive a Mystic Water Tera Water-boosted Surging Strikes from Urshifu-R and two Magnet-boosted Thunderclaps from Raging Bolt.

* Gholdengo runs either Tera Dragon or Tera Water. They both allow Gholdengo to resist Fire- and Water-type moves from threats like Entei and Urshifu-R. Dragon resists Electric, which can help against threats like Iron Hands and Raging Bolt. Additionally, Gholdengo naturally resists all the types that Dragon is weak to, which discourages opponents from predicting your Tera Dragon. Water is a good neutral typing, providing Fire and Water resistances without giving Gholdengo weaknesses to Fairy or Ice, which is especially crucial against duos like Chien-Pao and Entei.

I'll be doing a rechcek to make sure everything was implemented correctly.

[OVERVIEW]

* Gholdengo has solid stats all around, good bulk, and most notably a high special attack stat of 133, as well as an amazing typing (Dex Info, moved typing here as its a huge reason Gholdengo can set up.). This means it can be used as a set up sweeper with Nasty Plot or as a nuke with Choice Specs (Not in your analysis). Additionaly, Gholdengo has an amazing typing. A well positioned Gholdengo can beat Flutter Mane, Rillaboom, Chien-Pao, Latias, Whimsicott, and Iron Crown. (Unnecessary to list so many checks, removed the two controversial ones)

* Gholdengo appreciates partners Pokemon (Next part would've been repetitive) that support help it set up (Wasn't specific), so good partners are Follow Me/Rage Powder users for redirection redirectors like Amoonguss and Ogerpon, Fake Out users for giving it a turn to set up like Rillaboom and Incineroar, and Pokemon with Intimidate like Landorus-T and Incineroar, which all create free turns and increase Gholdengo's longevity. Gholdengo also likes speed control, so Tornadus is a good fit for it. Urshifu-R and Landorus are also good partners for it, since they can help get rid of some of its checks like Incineroar.

* One of Gholdengo's weaknesses is that it often finds itself needing to Tera, since It has some common weaknesses like Fire, Ground, and Dark. Some common checks to Gholdengo are Incineroar, Iron hands, Ogerpon-Wellspring-Mask, Heatran, and Raging Bolt. (This is a bit informal and unnecessary, something like 'Gholdengo loves to Tera, to avoid common threats like Incineroar, Entei, Chien-Pao, and Landorus and get a safe turn to Nasty Plot' works fine, or just remove the first and last parts only mentioning checks and counters and how they wall/threaten it)

*Make It Rain is used for powerful spread STAB +Steel stab damage, and Shadow Ball is used for as Ghost STAB, and Nasty Plot is used to set up. (You've talked enough about Nasty Plot, and its in the set name)

* The item used is Leftovers so it can stay on the field for longer and the passive healing can really add up. (Repeating yourself)

* The HP ev's are used to let Gholdengo stick around for longer and to set up Nasty Plots, and the special attack is for when you want to go on the offensive with or without Nasty Plot. The speed is to outspeed other Gholdengo, Rillaboom, and Heatran, and the nature is used to give Gholdengo more special attack and give it the most extra stat points. The bulk investment allows for Gholdengo to almost always survive a Mystic Water Tera Water boosted Surging Strikes and when Terastallized, a Magnet boosted Thunderclap from Urshifu-R and Raging Bolt respectively. The speed allows for Gholdengo to outspeed Tornadus and Ogerpon at -1 and Adamant Choice Scarf Landorus when in Tailwind. The rest is used to maximize Gholdengo's Special Attack.

* The Gholdengo runs Tera types are Dragon and Water. They both allow Gholdengo to resist Fire moves and Water moves that could be an issue from threats like Entei and Urshifu-R. Dragon resists Electric moves, which is useful since Electric is generally what Iron Hands and Raging Bolt attack into you with (This is a bit long and casual, maybe just mention that it helps against the two). Additionally, Gholdengo naturally resists all the types that Dragon is weak to, which discourages people from reading your Tera Dragon, since you could just not Tera and resist the attack. Water does not have any useful resistances since Gholdengo already naturally resists them. Gholdengo is weak to grass and electric moves, which are common priority moves and can be an issue, especially since grass moves can ignore rage powder from Amoonguss. It also gives you a worse matchup into Electric types since they already resist Make it Rains Water is a good neutral typing, bringing the Fire and Water resistance without inviting weaknesses to Fairy or Ice, which is especially crucial against duos like Chien-Pao Entei, however, brings weaknesses to common priority like Grassy Glide and keeps a poor matchup against Raging Bolt and Iron Hands (Why are you discouraging a recommended Tera Type?).
