What with Gothitelle gone, people turn to the other Gothi evolution. They might look like bad base stats, but remember Eviolite. And Gothorita a) is defensive and b) has Calm Mind. So... it's theoretically viable if Gothitelle was. Discuss.

This thing is so weak and really doesn't have a place in RU for the fact that the base 50 speed and base 60 hp make it dead weight as it will take no hits and never outspeed. The only way it could work is when shadow tag chandelure comes out and you double memento with lampent and litwick to ensure gothorita doesn't just die when it attempts to setup or attack.

If that's your argument, then Gothitelle is also non-viable (it doesn't outspeed anything anyway). So what if it has base 60 HP? Viable mons don't have that much more sometimes (Kabutops, for instance, also has base 60 HP).

Gothitelle had much better bulk, offense, and speed. Things like kabutops have high defense to balance out the low HP not to mention it brings a lot more to the table than Gothorita eg. super high offense, rapid spin and variations on it's sets unlike gothorita.

I'm not saying it's as good as Kabutops. The offence problem can easily be remedied using Calm Mind, and Gothitelle almost never outsped anyone anyway. You're just repeating the same arguments.

Gothorita is certainly quite an interesting Pokemon. However, if you're looking for a defensive Shadow Tag mon, Wynaut is certainly an interesting choice by trapping dangerous pokes to your team. I have to agree with BigBlue in that Gothorita isn't bulky enough to run a SubCM set-Gothitelle's best set was the Specs or Scarf set, and defensive is outclassed by Wynaut.

Gothorita has nowhere near the potential Gothitelle had in RU. Gothitelle was naturally bulky enough to be able to run an offensive Choice Specs / Scarf set and be able to trap mons etc.

With Gothorita, you cannot trap pkmn against offensive teams without Eviolite, and with Eviolite you are sacrificing the ability to run a Choice item that would make you effective in trapping

In other words, Gothorita is gonna suck imo

Why would you want to run a choice set?

With a Choice set you can do multiple things. With a Choice Specs, you can hit stuff hard and get the KOs that you need to get. With Choice Scarf, you can outspeed certain threats. Goth also has the ability to Trick an opponent, locking it into a certain move that can potentially make it useless. Like august said, Gothorita can't run either of these useful items because it basically needs Eviolite to take any hits. It's also extremely weak and slow, so it's a really useless mon imo.
