Nat Dex Mega Tyranitar [National Dex]

Tyranitar-Mega @ Tyranitarite
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 88 HP / 252 Atk / 168 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Stealth Rock

Although the generation has changed, Mega Tyranitar's role has stayed the same! Its fantastic bulk in conjunction with its great offensive and defensive typing as well as Pursuit make it a key point in the National Dex metagame, where Pokemon such as Spectrier and Mega Latias are dominating. Pursuit is able to trap Pokemon such as Spectrier, Aegislash, Heatran, and Choice-locked Tapu Lele. Stone Edge allows Mega Tyranitar to threaten Defoggers such as Zapdos, Hydreigon, and Moltres. Crunch is able to properly threaten Mega Latias as well as other bulky Psychic-types such as Slowbro and Reuniclus. Sand Rush sweepers such as Excadrill and Dracozolt make for great partners. Magearna and Cinderace greatly benefit from Mega Tyranitar's ability to Pursuit trap Pokemon such as Heatran, Slowbro, and Blissey. Clefable, Slowbro, and Aegislash are great teammates that can check dangerous Fighting-types like Mega Medicham, and, in case of the former two, Mega Lopunny. Heatran, Toxapex, and Magnezone take on dangerous Fairy-types such as Mega Mawile, Magearna, and Calm Mind Clefable, with Magnezone also trapping Corviknight, a Defogger Mega Tyranitar cannot beat.

Although the generation has changed, Mega Tyranitar's role has stayed the same! Its fantastic bulk in conjunction with its great Offensive Rock/Dark STAB combination offensive and defensive typing -its typing is paramount to its defensive success as well, so reworded this bit to stress that- and access to Pursuit in National Dex, proves Mega Tyranitar to be a key focal point in the metagame with the presence of Pokemon such as Spectrier and Mega Latias dominating -it's important to emphasize just how good these two Pokemon are-. Mega Tyranitar's rise in National Dex is due to it being the most reliable Spectrier counter being able to trap and remove it from the game. -this is implied in the previous sentence already now- Pursuit is also able to deal with trap Pokemon such as Spectrier, Choice-locked Tapu Lele, Aegislash, and Heatran. Stone Edge allows Mega Tyranitar to threaten Defoggers such as Zapdos, Rotom-H, -Rotom-H is borderline unviable and doesn't run Defog- Hydreigon, and Moltres. Crunch is able to properly threaten Mega Latias, as well as other bulky Psychic-types such as an unboosted Mega Latias, Slowbro, and Reuniclus -Crunch's main niche is threatening Mega Latias, so that needs to be distuinguished from other targets- . Sand Rush sweepers such as Dracozolt and Excadrill -pretty minor, but you should swap the order here since Excadrill is a lot more realistic partner- make for great partners for Mega Tyranitar as it is able to support them -fluff-. Magearna and Cinderace greatly benefits as a teammates to Mega Tyranitar -fluff- as it Mega Tyranitar is able to Pursuit trap Pokemon such as Heatran, Slowbro, and Blissey, thus weakening them for it -fluff-. Clefable, Slowbro and Aegislash are great teammates for Mega Tyranitar to help mitigate its 4x Fighting weakness that can check dangerous Fighting-types in Mega Medicham and, in case of the former two, Mega Lopunny. Heatran, Toxapex, and Magnezone take on dangerous Fairy-types such as Mega Mawile, Magearna, and Calm Mind Clefable, with Magnezone also trapping Corviknight, a Defogger Mega Tyranitar cannot beat.
