he can't really stallbreak to well since non-duggy stalls usually have an unaware user if not always
I honestly prefer specs Raikou here, it does a great job against some stall archetypes but only really works in hazard offense.

I'd go with specs hydreigon here.

Ok so it seems to be the general consensus that laddering with a friend (irl or otherwise) is more effective than laddering alone, like for instance Simiatic and a couple of friends qualified for voting and seemed to support each other. Also, according to the Teambuilding Guide, teams are also better when more than one person works on them.

My question is this: How does one find such a friend? I'm pretty sure it's too late to try to get reqs, but next generation I'd really appreciate someone to help work on teams and stuff with me.

Skype group with other players or the smogon discord would probably help.

Generally you just get friendly with other players chatting in PS rooms, or somewhere similar like Discord.

All of my friends are either from Smogon or from other sites. Just try to integrate yourself within the community and eventually you'll make some friends.
any bulky mons that somewhat beat clef?

If you're interested, I was gonna put together a little "team" like this anyways for the new season, so whenever you're online, just look for someone with "Sart" + any weird combination of letters, and PM me ;)

So i'm new to PS and managed to 1400 with a single team. I got tired of using the same team, and started playing around with other teams and now i find myself stuck at about 1200.
So my question is, what's wrong with me lol?

Use sample / notable teams, and use those until a point where you feel like you are comfortable enough to start building your own teams. If it's making plays and such that is the issue, then I would recommend just analyzing "why did my opponent do that, and how can I better anticipate that next time?" or a thought process in that vain of thinking. Overall practice makes perfect.

I think I might be struggling with the unpredictable (by which i mean predictable) moves in the lower rankings. I always over-predict. I should just think through my moves a bit more

When you're laddering there's no way to know the skill level of your opponent right from the start, that's why you should play safe until you feel confident enough to be able to predict your opponent's moves, trying to outpredict and outplay right from turn 1 on the ladder is pretty dangerous lol. I usually play it safe until my opponent starts getting aggresive or I feel I've been playing from the back the whole game and just giving up free momentum. I hope this helps ^_^

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, so please redirect me to the proper area if it's not. Wasn't able to find anywhere better on my own.

I know I'm a year or more late on this, but why have all individual pokemon threads been locked? It seems to me that the free and open discussion of various sets and strategies was what once made Smogon a great site, and the removal of this feature is actively stifling to strategic development and will ultimately prove harmful to the community. Many, if not most, of the innovative sets or EV spreads that have graced pokemon over the years have been a result of those free and open discussions, and would never have come to light if discussion and strategizing were as frowned upon as they currently seem to be.

What gives?

What? The individual Pokemon threads are dumb and don't serve much of a purpose. There's still tons of room for open and free discussion, in the creative sets thread, the metagame discussion thread, the VR thread, and the like. Starting next gen there will be individual Pokemon threads again, and when those begin to died out we'll just move towards the kind of thing that we're doing now. Individual Pokemon threads never last much more than two or three weeks at best either, once we get past that start of the gen period. You're blowing this way way way way out of the water man.

Those tend to clutter the forum. Dedicated threads such as the Metagame Discussion, Creative & Underrated Sets, and Underdog Project (for low- or unranked mons specifically) threads exist to facilitate those discussions.

EDIT: Greninja'd by mere seconds.

Celticpride jordanthejq12 Thanks for your quick responses. I understand your reasoning, though I respectfully disagree.

Individual pokemon threads provide a place for experts and enthusiasts on specific pokemon to gather in one place: if I wanted to get an opinion on a new Crobat set or ask questions of trainers well-educated on Crobat, I always knew I could go to the Crobat thread. CoolStoryBrobat would probably be hanging around, and knowledge would be had by all.

If I go to a Creative & Underrated Sets or Metagame Discussion thread, chances are that those specialist trainers won't be checking it, let alone posting in it. And if you do try to start a discussion about the correct number of speed EVs on a bulky defensive Hydreigon, it will either get buried in a sea of unrelated items, ignored, or scoffed at. There's no continuity of discussion in those threads; it's just jumping from one unrelated topic to another. If three posts in a row are about the same thing, you're lucky.

I used to come to Smogon all the time for those individual pokemon threads. The clutter never bothered me; I'd often stop by other individual threads to see what those bastards who ran Volcarona were plotting this time. Then again, the Search function was working back then.

There is value in having widespread, narrow, focused individual discussions over centralized, catch-all, shallow discussions. It's why doctors focus on very specific fields of study and why higher education fields of study become smaller and smaller as you progress further.

The 2 cents of one of your forum users, for what it's worth. Thanks for listening.

Lol there were hundreds at the start of the gen and they became redundant once the meta stabilised a bit 'cause people knew what was viable and what wasn't. There's no point having them clutter the forum when it is no longer necessary for people to speculate/comment on the ins and outs of them as a Pokémon due to it having all been hammered into the ground by this point.
