Pokebank Doubles Round 1

This was the first round of Doubles Minitour #8. I am probably going to use a different team for Round 2, so I decided to make my first Warstory because this was one of my best games. AuraRayquaza is not an easy opponent either and I was nervous going into it since he had beaten some good battlers recently.

AuraRayquaza's team:
Garchomp / Tyranitar / Scizor / Amoonguss / Thundurus / Hitmontop
YoungJake93's team:
Kangaskhan / Heatran / Cresselia / Dragonite / Landorus-Therian / Rotom-Wash

VS

At first glance it looks like Aura brought a pretty solid team Sand Offense team. The main thing worth noting at this stage is that Landorus-T checks most of his team.

Battle between AuraRayquaza and YoungJake93 started!
Go! Thundurus!
Go! Hitmontop!

I lead with Landorus-T and Rotom-W, hoping that Intimidate can force something out to gain some momentum and starting with offensive options that threaten most of his team. His Thundurus lead can't do much at all right now, but Hitmontop can Fake Out and cause trouble.

Hitmontop was hurt by its burn!

I expected Landog to get hit with Fake Out and either he was carrying HP Ice or Rotom W would be tanking a Thunderbolt. Also, getting locked into -1 Stone Edge and not being able to do jack to Top or being locked into Earthquake with Thundurus out did not seem ideal. I switch to Heatran to tank the incoming assault with laughable damage done, while burning Top with WoW to eliminate any Close Combat threat.

Now that Heatran is in, it is at the threat of Thunderbolt/Focus Blast and Close Combat, but Aura can't really do anything at all to Rotom W. I switch back to Landog to essentially make Top useless and handle anything from Thundurus. Aura overestimates the threat of Heatran here and uses Taunt+Wide Guard which would have left Heatran useless. It is a good thing I switched =] Chip damage from Hydro Pump just because.

Here something interesting happens. Because I hard switched out Landog rather than KOing Thundurus earlier or even U-Turning out, Aura assumes that it isn't scarfed and that I know I am at the threat of HP Ice. I gladly take the KO and sadly miss with Hydro Pump =[

Amoonguss comes in and I am in a sucky match up, but I DO NOT want Heatran to be Spored for free and I have no way of knowing who he will target. I decide to hit it hard with Landog, who can annoy his team even while sleeping and risk Dragonite getting Spored since I see he has Scizor, Garchomp and Tyranitar still. Tyranitar comes in on the same turn that my Landog falls asleep and Dragonite comes in =/

Okay, let's take advantage of Sleep Clause! Heatran can come in finally and set up safely. Here I honestly expect Tyranitar to knock the crap out of Dragonite with Rock Slide or Stone Edge or something, so I go airborne with Amoonguss. It turns out he wanted to get rid of Landog with Scarf Ice Beam while he could, so Heatran is guaranteed a Sub now with scarf Ice Beam and flying Amoonguss on the field.

Good game, youngjake93 - this is a pretty standard doubles game. Taming Sub Tran is one of Doubles player's expected skill, and it seems like you have trained yours well ;d It combo'd well with Cresselia, and it's not hard to see it pair well with Mega Kangaskhan and Dragonite, too. Speaking of that dragon, I wanted to see more of its Sky Drop in action, but w/e it got the job done.

Thanks! Dragonite usually underachieves against Sand just because usually everything is floating, Rock(Ttar), Steel(Exca) or Garchomp. It lucked out here by getting match ups against Amoonguss and Hitmontop though. My replay against CXinlee on TotW shows what it does against Sun and TR.

Sub Tran is definitely MVP of the team and you are right that a lot of my team works to support it. In fact, I have been telling people lately that unless your team is packing a way to reliably lure Tran into a premature KO, it is a bad idea to run any more than one Pokemon that is really troubled by it. It's not like you can just run 1 or 2 checks because as you can see here, support from [Fake Out/Intimidate/Sky Drop/Helping Hand/Substitute/Protect/Thunder Wave/Icy Wind/WoW/any offensive threat from a partner/even more things that I don't even have on this team] can easily maneuver around a check.

glad that you made one of these youngjake93 :) aesthetically could be worked on a bit (the presentation of percentages and such is a bit sloppy) and i might cut out the commentary in the chat to let the reader focus more on the thought process. otherwise nice job dude, hopefully you decide to make more of these with some exciting spl battles
