Since Zygarde got banned from OU, Rotom-W has been picking up a lot of steam. Rotom-W is one of the best answers to Pokemon like Tornadus-T, Landorus-T, and Garchomp thanks to its resistance to Flying and its ability, Levitate. Rotom-W is one of the most consistent Volt Switch users in the tier because it tends to draw in passive Pokemon like Tangrowth and can punish incoming Ground-types that might try to block Volt Switch. Because of this, it's one of the main faces that you will consistently see on VoltTurn teams. Rotom-W can also annoy checks like Ferrothorn, Mega Latias, and Mega Alakazam with Will-O-Wisp and Thunder Wave. Rotom-W's positive match up against common hazard setters like Heatran, Landorus-T, and Garchomp mean that it's also a pretty good Defogger. Threatening wallbreakers like Mega Mawile, Mega Medicham, Garchomp, and Tapu Lele that struggle to switch into play directly, benefit a lot from Rotom-W's slow Volt Switch to get into play more easily. Furthermore, you'll commonly find Tornadus-T alongside Rotom-W on VoltTurn teams, because it's very good at keeping momentum and also checks Grass-types that annoy Rotom-W.
