Overview

Set
Remember that moves should be in order of importance. Generally, moves with more slashes should be further down on the set, and the most important moves should be listed first.
Moves
Don't just say that a move is a good move, especially for STABs. Why is it a good move? It might seem obvious to you, but a newer player won't know the implied meaning. Be descriptive, and when moves are slashed, explain the benefits and downsides of each move.
Set Details
Don't be redundant and obvious when describing EV spreads and natures. Everyone understands that a Jolly nature makes the Pokemon faster and that an Impish nature allows the Pokemon to take physical hits better. Mention specific reasons for spreads and don't say like '4 EVs in Defense boosts the Pokemon's Defense stat', as such a boost is so minuscule that it's pointless to mention.

Don't mention redundant pieces of information like the effect of the ability or that a Mega Stone makes a Pokemon Mega Evolve. However, you should talk about the effect of items like Leftovers and Life Orb; specifically, it is important to discuss how they benefit the Pokemon.
Usage Tips
This section is important, and it seems that some writers just rush through it. Usage Tips should go in-depth on handling common situations encountered with a Pokemon and how it should be played. Remember that newer players read the analyses, so being clear and detailed is especially important in this section.
Team Options
This is another section where being descriptive and thorough is important. Be sure to mention all of the following: what types of teams the Pokemon is useful on, support it needs whether defensively or offensively with multiple examples of partners to fill those roles, and Pokemon that it partners well with in general (an example of this is Scarftar pairing well with Keldeo).
Other Options
Please don't mention things that are bad here. The only exception to this is when something might look good at first glance to someone who doesn't understand the Pokemon well, but actually isn't. In this case, you want to explain the supposed merits of the option and why it isn't a good option. Here, you should be mentioning sets, moves, abilities, items, etc. that have niche use on the Pokemon (i.e. for certain teams). Don't add options for the sake of doing so; if a Pokemon doesn't have a bunch of viable additional options, it just doesn't.
Checks and Counters
This section is generally fine, but make sure to be thorough and mention what you can. Remember, you should be approaching this from the perspective of someone trying to prepare for this Pokemon, so include all of the options and techniques that they can use to counteract that Pokemon. Also, make sure you have specific examples and not just general statements.

Overview

Volcanion is a powerful attacker that uses its great typing and signature move in Steam Eruption to be a huge threat in AAA. Its high attacking stats and diverse movesets (one word) enable it to perform well as a mixed attacker. Additionally, its strong high natural bulk and unique typing that provides x4 4x resistances to Fire and Ice moves allows allow Volcanion to survive fairly strong hits hits, (remove comma) and even switch into attackers like Entei and Victini. Unfortunately, Volcanion's mediocre Speed, weakness to Stealth Rocks Rock, offensive predictability, and lack of recovery mitigate its effectiveness to an extent. Overall, Volcanion is a powerful, bulky attacker that has the stats and moves to break through many walls in the AAA metagame.

Moves

As a stronger version of Scald, Steam Eruption is one of the best moves in the game; Volcanion should use this STAB move whenever possible, (comma) as its power, accuracy, and burn chance can be devastating for foes opponents, and the only drawback is the move's its only drawback is its low PP. Fire Blast is another powerful STAB option for Volcanion, (remove comma) but has the drawbacks of lower accuracy and chance of burning (its burning chance is a drawback?). Scald is a safer but weker weaker alternative to Steam Eruption, allowing Volcanion to preserve Steam Eruption's PP and ensure a hit. The fourth move is rarely used on a Tinted Lens set, but Will-O-Wisp, Flare Blitz, and Sludge Bomb are all solid options. Will-O-Wisp can burn special specially defensive walls, and it cannot burn Volcanion if you it hit hits a Magic Bounce user. Flare Blitz can take down Goodra, which would otherwise check Volcanion. Sludge Bomb is a good way to hit the rare bulky fairy Fairy-types in the tier, such as Sylveon or Azumarill.

Set Details

The SpA Special Attack EVs, Modest nature, and Choice Specs all maximize Volcanion's power, while Tinted Lens allows it to beat many foes that would otherwise check it. The combination of Choice Specs and Tinted Lens is ideal for allowing Volcanion to spam Steam Eruption. A Naive nature should be used if Volcanion is using Flare Blitz.

Usage Tips

Use Steam Eruption whenever you Volcanion can, unless the opponent has a Water-immune Pokemon an immunity. Using Volcanion to weaken and burn special walls will allow teammates to later break through your opponents opponent's team. Ideally, bring Volcanion into play by using a slow teammate's U-turn or Volt Switch. Volcanion can serve as a risky check to Entei and Victini due to its x4 4x resistance to Fire resist; switching into one of their fire Fire-type moves generally gives you Volcanion a free move afterwards.

Team Options

Special attackers with Knock Off, such as Thundurus and Manaphy, are great teammates, (comma) as they can lure in special specially defensive walls such as Chansey and RegenVest users like Meloetta and Goodra to significantly weaken lower their Special Defense. Zapdos provides an immunity to Ground immunity, hazard removal, (comma) and a slow Volt Switch/U-Turn (Zapdos does not learn U-turn?), all of which Volcanion benefits from. Diancie provides Stealth Rock support and checks Gale Wings users that threaten Volcanion, such as Braviary. Additionally, Diancie appreciates the pressure Volcanion puts on Steel-types Steel-typed foes. Moves

Steam Eruption is Volcanion's best move; it provides a strong, accurate STAB with a 30% chance to burn. Fire Blast is Volcanion's alternate STAB move that provides great coverage in tandem with Steam Eruption. Flare Blitz provides a powerful physical STAB option to surprise and defeat many checks designed for to take Volcanion's special attacks, such as RegenVest Meloetta and Chansey. Focus Blast provides coverage for foes with with immunities and resistances to that are immune to or resist Volcanion's STAB moves, such as Flash Fire Ferrothorn. Earth Power can be used over Focus Blast to more reliably hits hit Desolate Land Heatran, but forgoing Focus Blast comes at the cost of not being able to easily defeating defeat Ferrothorn (fix'd up the prose). Focus Blast is thus the preferred option unless Volcanion's teammates can easily defeat Ferrothorn.

The EVs are set to maximize Volcanion's Special Attack and Speed. With a Choice Scarf, Volcanion outspeeds foes like Raikou, Thundurus, and Choice Scarf Tyranitar and OHKOes them foes like Raikou, Thundurus, and Choice Scarf Tyranitar. The A Naughty nature gives Volcanion maximum Speed without hindering its Attack stat or physical Defense, both of which are important to Volcanion. Adaptability increases the power of Volcanion's physical and special STAB moves, making Volcanion extremely powerful. Life Orb is another option to further increase Volcanion's damage output and make it an incredible stallbreaker; however, Volcanion's slow Speed leaves it vulnerable to fast attackers like Thundurus, and the Life Orb set is often outclassed by the Choice Specs Tinted Lens set. That said, Volcanion becomes an incredible stallbreaker with Life Orb.

Usage Tips

Volcanion is great at bluffing its item, so do your best to not make it obvious that you Volcanion have has a Choice Scarf until you have the desired matchup so you Volcanion can surprise and OHKO the foe. Use (space fix) U-turn and/or or Volt Switch to pivot Volcanion freely into play. If you can predict an opponent's special specially defensive check switch in and defeat it with Flare Blitz, Choice Scarf Steam Eruption will often plow through the opponent's remaining team later in the match.

Team Options

Special attackers with Knock Off, such as Thundurus and Manaphy, are great teammates, (comma) as they can lure in special specially defensive walls such as Chansey and RegenVest users like Meloetta and Goodra to significantly weaken lower their Special Defense. Pursuit users like Tyranitar can trap special walls that check Volcanion, (comma) like such as Goodra, Meloetta, and Chansey, removing common Volcanion checks. Garchomp provides an Electric immunity as well as and a strong offensive partner to defeat defensive teams. It appreciates Volcanion's ability to absorb Will-O-Wisp. Magnet Pull Infernape is able to trap and defeat steel type Steel-type Volcanion checks such as Ferrothorn and Heatran.

Motor Drive can surprise threats like Thundurus, giving Volcanion a free switch or move, (comma) as well as a Speed boost. Swift Swim makes Volcanion a devastating fast attacker on rain teams. Magnet Pull seems appealing at first, (remove comma) but is generally outclassed by Heatran and Infernape. It can still be effective with the right matchup. Regenerator can make use of Volcanion's natural bulk and defensive typing to improve its longevity at the cost of power.

Checks and Counters

Special Defensive Walls: Volcanion has a tough time breaking walls like Chansey as well as RegenVest users like Meloetta and Manaphy. These checks can also hinder Volcanion's effectiveness with status or Knock Off, (remove comma) or pivot out.

Bulky Water Types Water-types: With a resistance to both of Volcanion's STAB moves STABs, bulky waters Water-types such as Poison Heal Vaporeon and Manaphy have the stats to even check even the Tinted Lens set.

Fast Electric Types Electric-types: Thundurus and Raikou can outspeed non-Choice Scarf Volcanion without a Choice Scarf and easily OHKO it easily.

Entry Hazards: Due to Volcanion's Stealth Rock weakness, it can be quickly worn down by entry hazards, mitigating the effectiveness of its bulk.
I have got two questions in this check (i'll put the question and the concerned part in this color) so please address those questions in a quote to this check, thanks. I'll stamp this once my doubts are cleared.

Adaptability increases the power of Volcanion's STAB moves, making Volcanion extremely powerful.

Usage Tips

Volcanion is great at bluffing its item, so do your best to not make it obvious that Volcanion has a Choice Scarf until you have the desired matchup so Volcanion can surprise and OHKO the foe. Use U-turn or Volt Switch to pivot Volcanion freely into play. If you can predict an opponent's specially defensive check switch in and defeat it with Flare Blitz, Choice Scarf Steam Eruption will often plow through the opponent's remaining team later in the match.

Team Options

Special attackers with Knock Off, such as Thundurus and Manaphy, are great teammates, as they can lure in specially defensive walls such as Chansey and RegenVest users like Meloetta and Goodra to significantly lower their Special Defense. Zapdos provides an immunity to Ground, hazard removal, and a slow Volt Switch or U-turn, all of which Volcanion benefits from. Diancie provides Stealth Rock support and checks Gale Wings users that threaten Volcanion, such as Braviary. Additionally, Diancie appreciates the pressure Volcanion puts on Steel-types. Pursuit users like Tyranitar can trap special walls that check Volcanion, such as Goodra, Meloetta, and Chansey. Garchomp provides an Electric immunity and a strong offensive partner to defeat defensive teams. It appreciates Volcanion's ability to absorb Will-O-Wisp. Magnet Pull Infernape is able to trap and defeat Steel-type Volcanion checks such as Ferrothorn and Heatran.

Strategy Comments

Other Options

Motor Drive can surprise threats like Thundurus, giving Volcanion a free switch or move, as well as a Speed boost. Swift Swim makes Volcanion a devastating fast attacker on rain teams. Magnet Pull seems appealing at first but is generally outclassed by Heatran and Infernape.

These checks can also hinder Volcanion's effectiveness with status, with Knock Off, or by pivoting out.

Bulky Water-types: With a resistance to both of Volcanion's STAB moves, bulky Water-types such as Poison Heal Vaporeon and Manaphy have the stats to even check the Tinted Lens set.

Fast Electric-types: Thundurus and Raikou can outspeed non-Choice Scarf Volcanion and easily OHKO it.

Entry Hazards: Due to Volcanion's Stealth Rock weakness, it can be quickly worn down by entry hazards, mitigating the effectiveness of its bulk.

  • Slow

Choice Band Wallbreaker
Tyranitar @ Choice Band
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Superpower / Toxic

Set Comments

Moves
  • Crunch provides a strong, reliable STAB move that is not resisted by many common physically defensive foes
  • Stone Edge hits incrdibly hard, with the drawback of significant chance to miss
  • Pursuit lets Tyranitar trap opponents that do not threaten it / or a forced out by fear of getting kod like Zapdos or some other example. It prevents foes from freely switching out without taking heavy damage.
  • Superpower Allows Tyranitar to OHKO Lucario
  • Toxic can cripple most of Tyranitar's few checks, such as Intimidate Hippowdon and Gliscor; it makes it harder for these checks to switch into Tyranitar again.

Set Details
  • Choice Band and Attack EVs maximize Tyranitar's attack stat, the rest of the EVs are put into speed to allow Tyranitar to outspeed most defensive foes
  • Adaptability boosts the power of Tyranitar's best attacks with no drawback, making Tyranitar incredibly threatening.
  • While not optimal due to the noticeable power drop, a Jolly nature can be used to outspeed uninvested Zapdos and Mew, as well as checks that speedcreep Adamant Tyranitar such as Meloetta.

Usage Tips
  • Tyranitar has the natural bulk and typing to switch into many attacks and pursuit trap the foe.
  • Double switch from a special attacker into Tyranitar to lure out and pursuit trap their checks / counters specially defensive foes and clear the way for other mons to sweep.
  • Use Crunch whenever it can hit neutrally, the damage output is so high that it is not worth the Stone Edge miss chance unless absolutely necessary, such as against teams with a defensive Skarmory or Diancie.

Team Options
  • Tyranitar fits perfectly on both offensive and balanced team builds.
  • Fast special attackers like Latios and Thundurus appreciate Tyranitar's ability to pursuit trap their checks, such as Meloetta.
  • Adaptability Honchcrow can break through Intimidate Skarmory, Intimidate Hippowdown, and Chesnaught variant, making it a great physical attacking partner for Tyranitar.
  • Hazard stacking from Deoxys-S makes Tyranitar even more threatening, and Tyranitar puts immense pressure on Defog and Rapid Spin users.

Moves
  • Crunch is Tyranitar's most spammable move, as it is strong, does not miss, and is not commonly resisted
  • Stone Edge is a powerful move with good coverage for a Flying-type heavy meta, however it risks the chance of missing so rock slide can be used instead at the cost of some power.
  • Pursuit allows Tyranitar to come in and trap offensive checks such as Latios, Thundurus, Gengar, and Braviary.
  • Superpower allows Tyranitar to OHKO Lucario as well as opposing Tyranitars
  • Toxic can cripple checks such as Intimidate Gliscor and Hippowdon, giving Tyranitar a chance to break through them later in a match.

Set Details

  • Adaptability increases Tyranitar's power for its best moves, Crunch, Stone Edge, and Pursuit.
  • With a Choice Scarf and a Jolly Nature Tyranitar outspeeds many of the previously mentioned fast attackers in the meta such as Thundurus and Latios.

Usage Tips
  • Choice Scarf Tyranitar serves as both a trapper and revenge killer.
  • Use Volt Switch and U-Turn to pivot into foes you can trap
  • Switch into a defensive teammate and double switch into Tyranitar to get the matchup to trap your foe.
  • Sacrifice a teammate to allow Tyranitar to safely come in and revenge kill a foe.
  • Don't lock yourself into Pursuit if it provides the opponent to set up a threat that you cannot check.

Team Options
  • Pivots like RegenVest Meloetta and Genesect can pivot after a foe's attack so that Tyranitar can safely come in and trap them
  • Manaphy and Volcanion appreciate Tyranitar's ability to trap and KO faster attackers such as Thundurus and Latios.
  • Doublade can switch into Lucario, which is a major offensive check to Tyranitar.
  • Intimidate Zapdos has a ground immunity and defensive stats to switch in onto foes that threaten Tyranitar, such as Landorus. Also, it can use Volt Switch or U-Turn to pivot into Tyranitar

Strategy Comments

Other Options

  • Does its job so well there is little reason to use a different set.
  • Regenerator and Assault Vest makes Tyranitar a great specially defensive wall that can take on threats like Latios, skarm and heatran.
  • Defiant and Tyranitarite allows you to get an immediate boost and KO most Defog users.

Checks and Counters

Lucario: Lucario is the most threatening check because it is very common in the meta and can OHKO Tyranitar or set up on both of Tyranitar's STAB moves and potentially sweep the team.

Bulky Intimidate Users: Hippowdon, Chesnaught, and Gliscor all have the defensive stats and typing to successfully switch in and threaten Tyranitar.

Bulky Fighting Types: Chesnaught and Cobalion resist both of Tyranitar's STAB moves, have the bulk to switch in several times, and can OHKO Tyranitar.

edit: I've got most of this saved in a Word doc, I'll c/p it once I'm done
Overview
Generalize what the Pokemon does in the metagame and as a whole and why you should or shouldn't consider using it on your teams.
-Bulky af – bulkier than mega slowbro on the physical side
-Takes nearly all unboosted physical hits
-Mono ice gives it 1 weakness (to ice) which is hard to take advantage of on the Pdef side
-Good spinner due to rocks resistance
-somewhat exploitable due to low spdef and relative passiveness but can mitigate this with investment and roar/toxic, respectively

Physically Defensive
Avalugg @ Leftovers / Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy / Ice Body
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Impish Nature
- Recover
- Avalanche
- Roar / Toxic
- Rapid Spin / Earthquake

Set Comments
Moves

Describe what the moves on the set do.
-Recover heals
-Avalanche is main STAB, -4 prio doesn’t matter bc you’re slower than everything anyway
-last 2 moves are up to you, Roar phases, Toxic also dissuades setup while annoying PORYGON2, Spin clears hazards (good bc resist SR), EQ gives more offensive coverage and helps somewhat vs Dragonite/grass/other fliers

Set Details
Describe the other aspects of the set such as what the EVs do and nature/item.
-EVs + nature maximise phys bulk making it fat af
-lefties gives passive recovery while rocky helmet punishes the physical contact attackers which it walls
-not even 2HKO’d by Jolly LO Mamoswine’s Icicle Crash after lefties
-sturdy can be useful to take strong special attacks in a pinch. Ice body should be used if paired with a hail setter (eg Abomasnow), and can be used anyway bc sturdy is rarely relevant. Own tempo is “eh” bc nothing really induces confusion except hurricane which you don’t want to take anyway

Usage Tips
Describe how to use the Pokemon in question.
-switch into most physical attackers
-watch out for status and surprise special attacks, eg toxic Mega Lopunny and ice beam Dragonite (ice beam Dragonite is kinda standard though)

Team Options
Describe some teammates that would be a good idea to pair with this Pokemon.
-Chansey lmao
-Porygon2 (handles Dragonite)
-takes koff aimed at the above two
-hail is cool but not necessary
-stuff weak to rocks/other hazards, as lugg is easily the best spinner in the tier. notably this includes Mega Lopunny/loom
-stuff weak to Mega Lopunny/Mega Beedrill, as it can switch in on them with ease

Specially Defensive
Avalugg @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy / Ice Body
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Recover
- Avalanche
- Toxic / Roar
- Rapid Spin / Earthquake / Mirror Coat

Set Comments
Moves

Describe what the moves on the set do.
-similar moves to the pdef set
-Recover heals
-Avalanche is main STAB, -4 prio doesn’t matter bc you’re slower than everything anyway
-last 2 moves are up to you, Roar phases, Toxic also dissuades setup while annoying PORYGON2, Spin clears hazards (good bc resist SR), EQ gives more offensive coverage and helps somewhat vs Dragonite/grass/other fliers. Toxic is generally preferred over roar bc it allows you to force out/beat Porygon2
-mirror coat is an option to surprise sp atk’ers

Set Details
Describe the other aspects of the set such as what the EVs do and nature/item.
-able to handle Porygon2's tri attack much more easily, allowing you to toxic it

Usage Tips
Describe how to use the Pokemon in question.
-switch into most physical attackers, but be more careful than the pdef set, as certain attacks now 2HKO it (eg LO Mamoswine’s Icicle Crash)
-again status should be avoided, but special lures are less problematic bc of the investment (you should still avoid Ice type attacks)
-if running ‘coat, save it for surprise factor, as it is very uncommon and could

Team Options
Describe some teammates that would be a good idea to pair with this Pokemon.

Strategy Comments
Other Options

List some options for the Pokemon user that are plausible but not always recommended due to either being not consistent enough or too outclassed by other Pokemon in the metagame.
- Curse sets – too easily threatened by special attackers and status to be worth it usually
- mirror coat on the pdef set (along sturdy) is a niche option to hit things hard, but is generally difficult to pull off

Checks and Counters
[INSERT THREAT HERE]
: Describe why the Pokemon/playstyle/etc is a threat.
-sp attackers - pitiful special bulk; even invested strong special attacks will often 2HKO
-ice type attacks - weak to ice, these hurt
-lures
-mixed attackers

I don't really see the point of slashing ice beam here since it deals with neither of his most common counters. Toxic can deal with gliscor anyway, ice beam just seems not worth it, even rocks is better. Not really worth running imo.

well, i guess it's as good of a time as any, welcome the Mix and Mega QC members: Grains of Salt, nv, and InfernapeTropius11 !

you can now reserve mix and mega analyses.
Reserving Entei for mix and mega
v1.0 finished. tagging Grains of Salt
nv
InfernapeTropius11
Overview:
Entei is a prominent physical attacker in Mix and Mega because of a few assets - Extreme Speed and high attack. It is one of the tier's best revenge killers, being able to stop sweepers with its +2 priority. It is best used with an ate stone so it can receive STAB and a 30% boost on Extreme Speed. Every team requires a few checks to this mon. However, it is kept back by a weakness to Stealth Rocks, lack of recovery, and underwhelming coverage, though its fantastic dual stab and power make up for that.

Ate Revenge Killer
Entei @ Altarianite/Pinsirite
Ability: Pressure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Nature: Adamant
-Extreme Speed
-Sacred Fire
-Stone Edge
-Return/Will-o-Wisp/Howl
Set Comments
Moves

Extreme speed is +2 priority, 80 base power, stab and ate boosted, making it a great revenge killer against offense but also strong enough against slower teams. Sacred Fire is a great secondary stab to hit steels, such as Aggronite mons or Cobalion. Stone Edge hits other fire types, such as other Enteis, Arcanine, or Victinis. The last slot depends on what you want to tech for. Return is the strongest stab Entei has, allowing it to 2HKO Blue Orb Scizor, for example. Howl allows it to boost up and beat Blissey and other checks to Entei. Will o Wisp allows it to cripple Skarmory or other Blue Orb Steels, therefore opening the way for other mons weak to skarmory to sweep.
Set Details
The EVs maximize Entei's wallbreaking power and speed. Adamant nature is forced if Entei wishes to run Extreme speed, as is being shiny. The given stones allow Entei to gain an -ate ability after mega evolving. Pinsirite gives more speed and special defense than Altarianite and makes Entei Fire/Flying. Altarianite gives a bit more power and makes Entei Fire/Fairy.
Ate boosted stab extreme speed hits like a truck, OHKOing frail offensive threats like Keldeo and Weavile. Pinsirite is better if you wish to hit Primal Groudon and Gengar hard or appreciate the extra speed, while Altarianite allows you to nail threats like Zygarde and Garchomp and is a tad stronger.
Usage Tips
Try bringing in Entei on frail offensive threats like Keldeo, Weavile, and Gengar. This allows it to either nab a kill or pressure a switch in. You can also save it to revenge such mons. Against offense, usually just clicking Extreme Speed will be the best play. But against teams with walls such as Skarmory, try wearing them down with status or hazards before
Team Options
Entei is best on balance and hyper offense teams as a priority option but also as a powerful wallbreaker. If Blue Orb Skarmory is a nuisance, Magnezone is an option to trap it. Entei also greatly appreciates hazard removal, as it can be between 2 and 4x weak to rocks depending on which stone it runs.
Some teams also use multiple Extreme Speeders, such as Entei and Arcanine, to overload teams with just a Primal Groudon to check them. On these teams Wil-O-Wisp Entei is best so Arcanine can then beat Skarmory with Wild Charge. You should definitely run stallbreakers/wallbreakers or setup sweepers alongside Entei, as Entei's best asset isn't insane power but rather priority alongside decent power and a nice dual stab.
Other Options
Extreme Speed and Sacred Fire are musts, and Stone Edge is great coverage. But the 4th slot is pretty flexible. Crush Claw is an option over Howl to pick up a boost while cleaning up a weakened opponent, but it is not as reliable. Flare Blitz is another option for extra power, but Sacred Fire's burn chance and lack of recoil make it much better overall. Bulldoze is the strongest move vs Groudon on Altarianite sets, but even that is so weak that it probably doesn't help.
Checks and Counters
  • Blue Orb Steels: Scizor, Ferrothorn and Skarmory, can wall Entei completely. Skarmory walls any Entei set, only fearing Wil-O-Wisp, but the other two completely wall altarianite versions and still check Pinsirite sets.
  • Primal Groudon: Is a hard counter to Altarianite sets and a check to Pinsirite versions.
  • Physical Walls: Barring the howl set, bulky walls, especially Suicune for its typing and ability to calm mind up, can exploit Entei's subpar power. Blissey is also a hard wall against Entei. Entei truly shines against offense teams, so it has trouble with bulkier ones.

  • Pursuit trapping allows you to secure KOs

Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Crunch
- Stone Edge / Rock Slide
- Pursuit
- Superpower / Toxic

Set Comments

Set Details
  • 252 Atk and 252 Spe EVs make Tyranitar as fast as strong as possible

-mention fairy types as a check, as choiced ttar really doesnt like being locked into stone edge often and fairies can shrug off even banded crunches and ohko with fairy stab.
-mention zygarde as a check, as it can set up coils on both ttars and eventually KO with eq (or espeed if pixilate)
-speaking of, slash rock slide on scarf and banded over superpower. crunch often hits most of these mons hard enough, and ttar really likes the lack of missing stone edge for certain kills. potentially put rock tomb over stone edge on banded ttar, as 2 rock tombs will do more then 1 stone edge factoring in the speed drop. helpful for netting KO's on offensive mons without fearing SE missing. situational...but so is locking yourself into superpower. at least rock tomb doesnt put ttar in a helpless state. otherwise QC Approved.

Ate Revenge Killer
Entei @ Pinsirite/Altarianite
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Nature: Adamant
-Extreme Speed
-Sacred Fire
-Stone Edge
-Return/Crush Claw/Bulldoze/Will-o-Wisp
Set Comments
Moves

Extreme speed is +2 priority, 80 base power, stab and ate boosted, making it a great revenge killer against offense but also strong enough against slower teams. Sacred Fire is a great secondary stab to hit steels. Stone Edge hits other fire types, such as other Enteis, Arcanine, or Victinis. The last slot depends on what you want to tech for. Return is the strongest stab Entei has, allowing it to 2HKO Blue Orb Scizor, for example. Crush claw (or Howl, but Crush Claw is probably better) allows it to boost up and beat Blissey. Bulldoze is the best move on Altarianite sets if hitting Primal Groudon is key. Will o Wisp allows it to cripple Skarmory or other Blue Orb Steels.
Set Details
The EVs maximize Entei's wallbreaking power and speed. Adamant nature is forced if Entei wishes to run Extreme speed. This is Entei's best set. Ate boosted stab extreme speed hits like a truck, OHKOing threats like Keldeo, Gengar (if Pinsirite), and Weavile. Altarianite gives 10 more attack and fairy typing, while pinsirite gives 20 speed and flying typing. Pinsirite is better if you wish to hit Primal Groudon hard, while Altarianite allows you to nail threats like Zygarde.
Usage Tips
Try bringing in Entei on frail offensive threats like Keldeo, Weavile, and Gengar. This allows it to either nab a kill or pressure a switch in. You can also save it to revenge such mons.
Team Options
If Blue Orb Skarmory is a nuisance, Magnezone is an option to trap it. Entei also greatly appreciates hazard removal, as it can be between 2 and 4x weak to rocks depending on which stone it runs. Entei is best on balance and hyper offense teams as a priority option but also as a powerful wallbreaker.

Checks and Counters
  • Blue Orb Steels: Scizor, Ferrothorn and Skarmory, can wall Entei completely. Skarmory is better against Pinsirite sets, but the other two completely wall altarianite versions.
  • Primal Groudon: Is a hard counter to Altarianite sets and a check to Pinsirite versions.
  • Sablenite Blissey/Slowbronite Florges/Suicune: Barring the howl/crush claw set, bulky walls, especially suicune for its typing and ability to calm mind up.

Overview
Beef up the overview. Like, a lot. Mention it's a great revenge killer, checks some prominent threats such as Weavile, gets STAB on espeed, must be prepared for, etc. You should have like 5 sentences here at the absolute minimum, as Entei is one of the major threats in the OM.

Set
Personally I'd slash Altarianite first, it's gonna lose the speed war in most cases with other atespeeders and this lets it switch in on weavile. Put willo after return, it's much more useful for crippling blue orb steels. I'd also remove crush claw and slash howl after stone edge (howl+return is a great stallbreaking combo imo). You can mention crush claw in oo. I'm also not completely sold on bulldoze as it usually seems bad cuz pdon rly doesnt take much from it. Only use is on pinsirite sets to beat red orb raikou, so i think that can be moved to oo. New set should look like:

Entei @ Altarianite / Pinsirite
Ability: Pressure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Extreme Speed
- Sacred Fire
- Stone Edge / Howl
- Return / Will-O-Wisp

Moves
Add Howl, remove Crush Claw. Mention what steel types Sacred Fire hits (e.g. aggronite mons).

Set Details
Remove the "This is Entei's bets set." as that's implied due to it being on the site and first/only on the page. Specify that the boosts you mentioned are in relation to each other (unless we are supposed to flat out mention the stat boosts of both stones, tagging Kris to see what he wants). Say something along the lines of "Altarianite grants the larger power boost of the two recommended stones and provides the coveted Fairy/Fire STAB coverage. Pinsirite on the other hand hits Fire types, such as Primal Groudon, harder than Altarianite and grants a boost to speed." You can elaborate on what the fairy typing hits that flying doesnt as well (specifically garchomp/zygarde). Add that shiny is necessary as well due to Entei's event moves.

Usage Tips
Specify that you can bring in Entei on things it walls such as Weavile (Altarianite only) and that you can bring it in to rk threats like Keld/Gar (you don't usually switch in on those two unless you plan to sack Entei :e). Discuss the preservation of espeed pp if they have a healthy mon that walls entei (applicable for the balance/semi stall matchups). Conversely, mention how spammable espeed is vs offense.

Team Options
Add other atespeeders as the onslaught can run over some teams. Include Keldeo/stallbreaker Mew for the ability to break SkarmBliss and other blue orb steels. The sentence that starts with "Entei is best on balance" seems like something that should be included in the overview, not here imo. Instead mention specific mons that help Entei or appreciate its support. Mention special attackers that can threaten out some of its checks and counters. Thundy is a good one as it both appreciates PDon being worn down (or can do that for Entei) and pivots on Suicune and Skarm while also threatening Ferro.

Other Options
Adding this section would be good :P Mention Bulldoze and Crush Claw. If Iron Head or Double-Edge do anything they can be mentioned here too (I haven't found either useful though).

Checks and Counters
Specify that Skarm walls all sets altho it dislikes wisp (still walls tho). Say that Ferro/Sciz wall altarianite. Make the third point "physical walls" and then mention specifically Blissey and Suicune (im not sure florges should be included tbh).

Since the overview needs a lot of work and OO is nonexistent atm, I'm not gonna give you a stamp yet, tag me when you've implemented this. Also for the future please use point form until after your first QC approval, and when you write it out use complete sentences (analyses are formal). Admittedly that's more of a GP thing but w/e.

  • Don't lock yourself into Pursuit if it provides the opponent to set up a threat that you cannot check.

  • Manaphy and Volcanion appreciate Tyranitar's ability to trap and KO faster attackers such as Thundurus and Latios.
  • Doublade can switch into Lucario, which is a major offensive check to Tyranitar.

Bulky Ground Types: Zygarde and Garchomp can set up on Tyranitar when it is locked into a Stone type move, and then OHKO it with Earthquake/

Bulky Fairies: If Tyranitar is locked into a move other than Stone Edge, Fairy type pokemon like Diancie and Florges can set up Calm Mind boosts and threaten Tyranitar with Moonblast.

Overview

Tyranitar is one of the biggst threats in the AAA metagame due to its great offensive power and typing. With Adaptability it can break through most physical walls, as Dark and Rock STABs are difficult to reliably resist. It also has good natural bulk and the typing to take on common threats in the metagame such as Latios, Victini, Honchcrow, Entei, and Skarmory. Tyranitar's ability to check these threats is enhanced by its Adabptability-boosted Pursuit, which traps and KOs many offensive oriented foes. Tyranitar is only held back by its slow speed, but it is sill remains one of the biggest threats in AAA.

Moves

Crunch is Tyranitar's most reliable move as it provides a strong, reliable STAB that is not resisted by many common physically defensive foes. Stone Edge is another STAB move which hits even harder than Crunch but comes with the significant risk of missing. Pursuit gives Tyranitar the critical ability to trap foes that threaten its teammates. The last slot should either be given to Superpower, which KOs Lucario, a common threat, Toxic, which can hinder bulky checks' ability to switch into Tyranitar later in the game, or Rock Slide, which provides a more reliable Rock STAB than Stone Edge.

Set Details

Using a Choice Band and maximum Attack EVs make Tyranitar do incredible damage to foes. The rest of the EVs are put into Speed to allow Tyranitar outspeed most defensive foes. Adaptability boosts the power of Tyranitar's best attacks with no drawback, making it even more threatening. While not optimal due to the noticeable power drop, a Jolly nature can be used to outspeed uninvested base 100 speed foes such as Zapdos and Mew, as well as checks that speedcreep Adamant Tyranitar such as Meloetta.

Usage Tips

Due to Tyranitar's sizeable natural bulk, it can switch into threatening attacks such as Braviary's Brave Bird or Victini's V-Create and then trap them with Pursuit. Double switching from a special attacker into Tyranitar to lure and Pursuit trap the special attacker's check on the opponent's team can clear the way for Tyranitar's teammates to sweep later in the game. Crunch should be used in most circumstances as its damage output is so high that it is not worth risking the Stone Edge miss unless absolutely necessary, such as when the opponent has a Diancie.

Team Options

Tyranitar can be used on both offensive and balanced team builds. Fast special attackers such as Latios and Thundurus appreaciate Tyranitar's ability to pursuit trap their checks, such as Meloetta. Adaptability Honchcrow can break through some of Tyranitar's checks such as Intimidate Hippowdon, Intimidate Skarmory, and various Chesnaught sets, making it a great physical attacking partner for Tyranitar. hazard stacking from Deoxys-S makes Tyranitar even more threatening, and Tyranitar puts immense pressure on Defog and Rapid Spin users. Lastly, Doublade is a reliable teammate as it can take on Fighting type foes that threaten Tyranitar.

Moves

Crunch is Tyranitar's most spammable move as it is strong, cannot miss, and is not commonly resisted. Stone edge is a powerful move with good coverage for a Flying-type heavy meta. Pursuit allows Tyranitar to switch in on and trap does such as Latios, Gengar, Thundurus, Gengar, and Braviary. Superpower allows Tyranitar to OHKO Lucario, a common check which resists both of Tyranitar's STABs, as well as an opposing Tyranitar. Toxic can cripple checks such as Intimidate Gliscor and Hippowdon, giving Tyranitar a chance to break through them later in a match. Rock Slide hits hard due to Adaptability and is more accurate and thus more reliable than Stone Edge, however the power difference is noticeable.

Set Details

252 Atk and 252 Spe EVs make Tyranitar as strong and fast as possible. Adaptability increases Tyranitar's power for Crunch, Stone Edge, and Pursuit, its best moves. With a Choice Scarf and a Jolly Nature, Tyranitar outspeeds many of the previously mentioned fast attackers in the metagame such as Thundurus and Latios.

Usage Tips

Use Tyranitar as both a trapper and a revenge killer as it does both jobs very effectively. Utilizing Volt Switch and U-Turn to pivot provides Tyranitar a safe method to switch into foes that it can trap. If a certain foe is especially threatening for your team, sacrifice a teammate to allow Tyranitar to come in a safely and trap that threat. Be cautious not to lock Tyranitar into Pursuit if it provides the opponent the opportunity to set up with a threat that you cannot check, such as Lucario.

Team Options

Pivots such as RegenVest Meloetta and Genesect can pivot after a foe's attack so that Tyranitar can safely trap the foe. Manaphy and Volcanion appreciate Tyranitar's ability to trap and KO faster threats such as Thundurus and Latios. Doublade can crucially switch into and KO Lucario, which is a major threat to teams that rely on Tyranitar. Intimidate Zapdos is another good teammate due to its Ground immunity and defensive stats that allow it to switch into threats such as Landorus and Tough Claws Lucario; it can also utilize Volt Switch, U-Turn, or Baton Pass to pivot into Tyranitar.

Other Options

Since Tyranitar does its job so well there is little reason to use a different set, but there are two decent options. RegenVest Tyranitar utilizes Tyranitar's bulk and typing to make a great specialy defensive wall that can take on threats like Latios, Skarmory, and Heatran, but it is generally outclassed by Meloetta. Secondly, using Defiant and Tyranitarite gives Tyranitar to chance to get a +2 boost on and KO most Defog users.
