Before I retreat into slumber, I would like to wish all of my friends in Australia and Asia a happy new year. In case my friends in other parts of the world have not yet imbibed enough toxic liquid to destroy all of their mental faculties, I hope my wishes to them will allow them to enjoy their celebration without making themselves regret the day they were born.

Rant aside, I want to wish all of you a really good new year, I've met so many wonderful people in this community, be it through battling in tournaments or interacting with them in some chats, and so on. It's priceless how many good things you've given to me and so I hope, as once a wise-man said, "karma strikes back" :)

Is it too late to get involved in SPL this year? I've been playing competitively on the ladder for a few years now without ever getting involved in the community and tours, and I'd like to change that. ^_^

I'd recommend joining the SPL farm league as a way of getting all of the managers to notice you x

I believe only RBY games are BO3.

Not sure why, but I'd guess it's because of the high amount of RNG. So BO3 would be more fair

Bads erroneously believe that RBY is somehow more luck-based than other generations where everything dies in two hits (after like gen 4) and you can be randomly fucked over by arbitrary mons you couldn't possibly account for in teambuilding because there's nine billion mons.

But it's also because RBY games tend to be reasonably quick and there's much less teambuilding demand in preparing for the week, since there's relatively few viable mons and most teams are just the same 4-5 mons with slight variances. Ideally, all matches would be BO3.
