OU Tapu Fini

Being the bulkiest of the guardian deities and one of the most diverse support Pokemon in OU, Tapu Fini utilizes its expansive movepool to fulfill a plethora of roles. Its access to moves like Defog, Taunt, Nature's Madness, and Calm Mind makes it a great Defogger and setup sweeper depending on what moves are chosen and what role its team requires while giving it the ability to apply great pressure to stall teams. Its excellent typing makes it a great check to a large number of threats, such as Garchomp, Latios, Ash-Greninja, Weavile, and Keldeo. Its unique ability, Misty Terrain, guards it and its teammates from harmful status like poison, paralysis, and burn, making it an even better glue to a team.

Tapu Fini @ Leftovers
Ability: Misty Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Taunt
- Nature's Madness
- Moonblast
- Defog / Scald

Tapu Fini's most common set makes full use of its stallbreaking capability by using Taunt to shut down walls like Chansey while dealing a large amount of damage to bulkier threats like Celesteela and Mega Venusaur with Nature's Madness. Moonblast is its primary STAB move that lets it hit Dragon-, Dark-, and Fighting-types like Latios, Ash-Greninja, and Keldeo for super effective damage. The last slot is a toss-up between Defog and Scald. Defog lets Tapu Fini remove entry hazards but Scald can be run if another Pokemon already fulfills the role of a Defogger on your team. Scald is generally superior compared to Surf; the power drop is barely noticeable and the former can burn Flying-types, Levitate users, and Tapu Bulu. Whirlpool is a decent alternative if you wish to trap defensive Pokemon like Toxapex, however. Maximum EVs in Speed along with a Timid nature let Tapu Fini outspeed Adamant Landorus-T and Adamant Zygarde.

Tapu Fini @ Leftovers
Ability: Misty Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Hydro Pump / Scald
- Moonblast
- Taunt

On the other hand, a Calm Mind set can also be used if required. Calm Mind boosts Tapu Fini's Special Attack and Special Defense and is necessary for it to pose any sort of offensive threat. Hydro Pump and Moonblast are its strongest STAB moves but Scald can be used for reliability in exchange for power. Taunt enables Tapu Fini to shut down and set up on annoyances like Skarmory and Ferrothorn.

Despite its amazing bulk and expansive movepool, however, Tapu Fini has its own fair share of flaws. A weakness to common Grass- and Electric-type coverage makes it easy prey for wallbreakers like Tapu Bulu and Tapu Koko while its lack of recovery forces it to rely on Leftovers as its only method of regaining health. Protean Greninja, which Tapu Fini is supposed to check, can easily break through it with a STAB Gunk Shot. Lastly, its offensive presence isn't very overwhelming; wallbreakers like Tapu Bulu tend to switch in and threaten it with ease.

That being said, Tapu Fini is still one of the premier defensive walls in OU, capable of stopping numerous threats. Go try it out yourself!

What's the purpose of the current spreads you have listed? I almost always use max speed on tapu fini and it is usually needed or at least wanted, imo

OVERVIEW

Seems alright. I feel that the only Finis capable of stallbreaking are Whirlpool variants - Toxapex can sort of stall the matchup out and then eventually switch to something else. I wouldn't really call it a stallbreaker more than it can apply pressure to stall matchups.

In its flaws I would also note that Greninja can often fool Tapu Fini into a false sense of security. Tapu Finis that hard switch into Greninja often pay the price with Protean Gunk Shot - something Fini cannot take more than one of.

Everything else looks good.
