Trevenant

[OVERVIEW]
Trevenant's combination of a high Attack stat and access to STAB Wood Hammer makes it one of the strongest dedicated wallbreakers in PU. Additionally, its strong array of unique coverage options such as Earthquake and Rock Slide, which is largely unique to Trevenant, lets it take on common Grass checks such as Mawile and Altaria. This ability to 2HKO common Grass switch-ins gives Trevenant a unique niche of being able to possibly break through its, and all other Grass attackers, own common counters. Access to Natural Cure also gives Trevenant an additional niche over other Grass attackers and walls such as Leafeon and Gourgeist-XL. However, Trevenant's low Speed and competition from more competent Grass-types such as Leafeon, which is faster and has setup options, and Gourgeist-XL, which is bulkier overall, keep Trevenant from standing out on its own in both an offensive and defensive light.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Trevenant's Wood Hammer is chosen as the primary STAB option, as it is the most powerful Grass-type attack in the tier. Shadow Claw provides a secondary attack that hits walls such as Gourgeist-XL; however, it should be noted that locking into a Ghost move in PU can be detrimental, as PU has a large number of strong Normal-types that would take advantage of this. Rock Slide hits Flying-type Pokemon such as Vullaby and Fire-type Pokemon such as Rapidash, 2HKOing all of them. The last slot is quite customizable, but the recommended move is Earthquake for 2HKOing defensive Mawile even after an Intimidate. Other options include Trick to cripple any walls that may switch in; however, by giving the Choice Band away, Trevenant forfeits its ability to 2HKO many common Grass switch-ins such as Vullaby. Horn Leech is also an option for healing, since Trevenant can get worn down quickly through switching in and Wood Hammer recoil. Due to the lack in power, however, it is not recommended that Horn Leech replaces Wood Hammer; instead, it should work as a secondary and weaker Grass option if used at all.

Set Details
========

The Speed EVs are set to always outspeed Adamant maximum Speed Mawile, which can force Trevenant out otherwise with a strong Knock Off. Trevenant can run 252 Speed to outspeed neutral-natured Cacturne; however, this is not recommended due to Cacturne's ability to OHKO it with Sucker Punch, which nullifies any Speed that Trevenant has. The leftover EVs are put into HP for some additional bulk, as Trevenant's natural bulk is fairly respectable. Choice Band is the item of choice to make Trevenant as strong as possible in conjunction with the Attack EVs and Adamant nature, which guarantees the 2HKO on many threats and switch-ins such as Vullaby and defensive Mawile. Natural Cure is used to heal off any burns so Trevenant is not crippled by them while also letting it act as a general status absorber for the rest of the team.

Usage Tips
========

Trevenant is heavily reliant on the player's ability to properly predict their opponent. If predicted correctly, Trevenant has the ability to 2HKO most of the common Grass switch-ins PU has to offer. If the player predicts incorrectly, then whatever move Trevevant locks itself into is usually an easy switch-in for a Pokemon that either resists or is immune to the move. For example, locking into Shadow Claw gives a free switch for Stoutland, and locking into Wood Hammer gives a free switch for Vullaby. It is exceedingly important to predict often and predict well in order for Trevenant to succeed. Bring Trevenant in in the earlier parts of the game to soften the opposing team with its wallbreaking ability, but always be prepared to switch it back out. Additionally, thanks to Trevenant's decent natural bulk, coming in on resisted moves like an Earth Power from Stunfisk is also acceptable. Trevenant can also switch in on a Scald if necessary, as Natural Cure will get rid of the possible burn. Using Trevenant as a status absorber is a decent option for taking a Toxic or Thunder Wave for a partner while also affording a relatively free switch for Trevenant by simply healing the affliction on the switch.

Team Options
========

Trevenant's primary niche is its ability to weaken common Grass switch-ins, so a great partner for Trevenant is another Grass sweeper such as Leafeon or Jumpluff that appreciates this. Monferno and Pawniard are also notable options if you do not want to stack Grass-types, as they also appreciate targets such as Vullaby out of the way to ease their own sweep. Partners that can give Trevenant a free switch through U-turn or Volt Switch also work well, and choices such as Rotom-F and Monferno can succeed in this role. Additionally, while Trevenant is strong on its own, it still requires Stealth Rock on the field to solidify the 2HKO on some notable threats such as Vullaby. Thus, choices such as Metang and Mawile are good partners for both providing Stealth Rock and patching up some type weaknesses Trevenant has. Defensive partners can consist of choices such as Mawile, which can switch in on Flying and Dark attacks, and Altaria, which can switch in on Fire attacks. Having defensive partners for Trevenant is advised because Trevenant has to switch in and out on a regular basis, making reliable teammates to absorb the attack meant for Trevenant a strong asset to the team.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Offensive Trick Room sets are also a possibility thanks to Trevenant's low Speed and high Attack and damage output, but they can face competition from Gourgeist-XL, which has Explosion and priority in the form of Shadow Sneak. These options allow Gourgeist-XL to support the team more and work outside of Trick Room, though it is ultimately notably weaker than Trevenant.

Gimmick sets that utilize Harvest are also particularly tempting and popular, but they are usually not consistent enough to be worth the team slot. Lum Berry can be used to absorb status for Trevenant's teammates and possibly let it heal for free with Rest, but Trevenant is not bulky enough to consistently pull this strategy off and is eclipsed by Gourgeist-XL in almost all defensive sets. Another notable Harvest set of Sitrus Berry with Substitute and Leech Seed is also possible, but this is not advised because many threats in PU, such as Quilladin and Substitute Bouffalant, are largely unaffected by it and in a worst case scenario can use it as a setup opportunity.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Bulky Grass-types:** Walls such as Quilladin and defensive Tangela can switch in freely against Trevenant, only fearing Trick.

**Sap Sipper Bouffalant:** Bouffalant is immune to both of Trevenant's STAB options, forcing it to lock into Earthquake or Rock Slide, and can also Pursuit trap Trevenant. However Bouffalant can struggle to do much damage back, and Earthquake and Rock Slide both can break Bouffalant's Substitute.

**Flying-types:** Threats such as Dodrio can outspeed Trevenant and OHKO it with Brave Bird. On the other hand, walls such as Altaria and Vullaby can come in and wall a Trevenant that is locked into a resisted move. No Flying-types can safely switch in to Trevenant, though, as none appreciate getting hit by Rock Slide.

**Dark-types:** Threats such as Pawniard and Cacturne can force Trevenant out by threatening to outspeed and OHKO it. However, Trevenant can OHKO Pawniard with Earthquake and Cacturne with Wood Hammer after Stealth Rock.

**Fire-types:** Monferno, Ninetales, Rapidash, Combusken, and Simisear can all outspeed Trevenant and OHKO it with a STAB Fire move. None of these threats can freely switch in due to taking high damage from even a resisted Wood Hammer and the threat of a predicted Rock Slide or Earthquake, though Rapidash has the ability to heal off the damage taken.

Looks like a decent set. I would, however like to tell you that with Harvest and a Kee berry it has massive defensive capability's.

Harvest sets are generally unreliable enough that I would not recommend any of them to anyone. The CB sets attempts to differentiate itself from Leafeon and Gourgeist by doing something that neither can do quite as well, which is wallbreaking and luring common grass switch-ins. I do need to add Harvest sets to the "other options" part with a large disclaimer though, so thanks for reminding me about this

Not a full QC check, but just to note some things. In the Overview, state why you use Trevenant over Leafeon (mainly Natural Cure). Horn Leech should at least be mentioned in moves as it does get worn down easily. Jolly nature can at least be mentioned to outspeed stuff like Adamant Pawniard, yet mention the loss in power. Mention Pursuit when talking about Sap Sipper Bouffalant. Voltturn partners should be mentioned in Team Options to give Trevenant free switches when possible (you mentioned it in Usage Tips, but not Team Options). Also the part about being locked into the wrong move in C&C is more of a mention in Usage Tips so I'd put it there.

Most of the info is good, it's just that this mon dropped idk, at least half a year ago, and that should've been plenty of time to make this longer and more detailed
Also some of this is randomly written up when it should be in bullets but it's taken so long that I'd rather finish the check now
[OVERVIEW]

  • Trevenant's combination of a high Attack stat and access to STAB Wood Hammer makes it a strong wallbreaker in PU.
  • Strong array of coverage options such as Earthquake and Rock Slide, which is largely unique to Trevenant
  • Access to Natural Cure gives it a niche over Leafeon and Gourgeist what these 2 points miss is that trev actually has good coverage on things like mawile and altaria unlike leaf
  • However, Trevenant's low speed and competition from more competent Grass-Types such as Leafeon and Gourgeist keep Trevenant from standing out on it's own in both an offensive and defensive light.
you just said it has a niche, so without explaining why they outclass it (better bulk, speed, sd, versatility, etc) this gets confusing
really the main thing here is no mention of how you can smack things like mawile and alt like i said above, that's the only thing really going for this (cure is nice but not enough)

Trevenant @ Choice Band
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 48 HP / 252 Atk / 208 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Wood Hammer
- Shadow Claw
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake / Trick / X-Scissor

Moves
========

  • Wood Hammer is chosen as the primary STAB option, as it is the most powerful Grass-type attack in the tier.
  • Shadow Claw is for secondary STAB and for hittings walls such as Gourgeist-Super, however it should be noted that locking into a Ghost move in PU can be detrimental as PU has a large number of strong Normal types that would take advantage of this.
  • Rock Slide is for hitting Flying Pokemon such as Vullaby and Fire Pokemon such as Rapidash and 2HKOing all of them.
  • The last slot is quite versatile, but the recommended move is Earthquake for 2hkoing Defensive Mawile even after an Intimidate.
there doesnt need to be a big space here
  • Other options include Trick to cripple any walls that may switch in, however by tricking the Choice Band away Trevenant forfeits its ability to 2hko many common Grass switch-ins such as Vullaby.
  • X-Scissor is also an option for 2hkoing Offensive Tangela, however X-Scissor fails to 2hko any other walls in the tier nor does it 2hko anything else that cannot be hit just as hard by another existing move. I would deslash this and move it to OO tbh, off tang is just not as good as def and that's a really shitty niche. I'd rather trick def tang
  • Horn Leech is also an option for healing, since Trevenant can get worn down quickly through switching in and Wood Hammer recoil. but lacks power

Set Details
========

  • The Speed EVs are set to always outspeed Adamant max speed? Mawile.
  • The leftover EVs are put into HP for some additional bulk.
  • Choice Band and the attack EVs and adamant nature is the item of choice to guarantee the 2HKO on many threats such as Vullaby and Defensive Mawile make trev as strong as possible, allowing it to 2hko threats like vullaby and mawile
a lot of this is written to leave out important stuff, this is just an example of how I'd do one bullet point. even if you had planned to do it better in write-up, I can't tell from this if you were going to include this stuff
  • Natural Cure is used to heal off any burns so Trevenant is not crippled by them while also acting as a general status absorber for the rest of the team.

Usage Tips

this should still be in bullets until the implementation of the second qc check

Trevenant is heavily reliant on the player's ability to properly predict their opponent. If predicted correctly, Trevenant has the ability to 2hko most of the common Grass switch-ins PU has to offer. If the player predicts incorrectly, then whatever move that Trevevant locks itself into is usually an easy switch-in for a Pokemon that either resists or is immune to the move. Trevenant will most likely not be staying in for long.
both of these give a very crucial point but I dont see why you need 2 paragraphs saying basically the same thing
Trevenant has wide coverage to hit many threats, but locking into any move due to the Choice Band on Trevenant can be exploited by the large variety of threats in PU. An example would be that locking into Shadow Claw gives a free switchin for Stoutland, or locking into Wood Hammer gives a free switchin for Vullaby. It is exceedingly important to predict often and predict well in order for Trevenant to succeed.
  • Additionally, thanks to Trevenant's decent natural bulk, coming in on resisted moves like an Earth Power from a Stunfisk is also acceptable. Trevenant can also switch in on a Scald if necessary as the Natural Cure will get rid of the possible burn.
  • Using Trevenant as a status absorber is a decent move for both taking a Toxic or Thunder Wave for a partner while also both affording a subjectively free switch-in for Trevenant and simply healing the affliction on the switch.
something about bringing this in a lot early game to break stuff down bc it's p useless late game

Team Options

Trevenant's primary niche is its ability to weaken common Grass switchins, so a great partner for Trevenant is another Grass sweeper that appreciates this ability. Partners such as Leafeon or Jumpluff are great examples of partners that appreciate Trevenant weakening or knocking out their common switchins.
give more examples of things that appreciate trev's breaking in the likely case that people don't want to stack grasses
While Trevenant is strong on its own, it still requires Stealth Rock on the field to solidify the 2HKO on some notable threats such as Vullaby and Tangela should you opt to use X-Scissor. As such, choices such as Metang and Mawile are good partners for both providing Stealth Rock and patching up some type weaknesses Trevenant has.
give defensive partners, mons that can take fire/flying/normal hits since they're going to be forcing out trev a lot

  • Trevenant can run 252 Speed to outspeed neutral nature Cacturne, however this is not recommended due to Cacturne's ability to OHKO with Sucker Punch regardless.
.random sets?
  • Gimmick sets that utilize Harvest are also particularly tempting and popular, but are usually not consistent enough to be worth the team slot.
  • Lum Berry can be used to absorb status for Trevenant's teammates and give it a possible free heal with Rest, but Trevenant is not bulky enough to consistently pull this strategy off and is eclipsed by Gourgeist-Super in almost all defensive sets. wait is this a harvest gimmick? bc no need to mention it twice. you could mention rest+cure though
  • A notable gimmick set of Sitrus Berry with Substitute and Leech Seed is also possible but not advised as many threats in PU, such as Quilladin and Substitute Bouffalant, are largely unaffected by this kind of sets and in worst case scenario present a setup opportunity. again, no need for 3 bullets about basically the same thing
other than the 252 one, I'd put subseedsitrus, offensive trick room, and offensive wisp w/colbur berry (i did cure not harvest fwiw) in OO. they're all sorta theoretically workable things that should be fine to give quick mentions to

Checks and Counters
===================
my biggest issue here is no section for flying types. Need to mention that alt/vulla/pelippre are pressured but can stall it out while every offensive flying cant switch in but can ohko it. C&C is ordered by threat level, and the way I'd personally order it is bulky grasses/flying/fire/dark/bouff, you've used this more so up to you but I dont necessarily think the current order is correct

also the formatting should look like
**Dark-types**: words
idk why but u need asterisks and dont need to bold the threat

Dark-Types: Threats such as Pawniard and Cacturne can force Trevenant out by threatening to outspeed and OHKO. Trevenant does have the ability to outspeed Cacturne, but Cacturne can easily OHKO with a Sucker Punch. last sentence is worthless if the analysis set doesnt outspeed on its own. you could mention that they have to be careful switching in since trev can ohko pawn w/eq and cac w/wood hammer after rocks if it predicts right

Bulky Grass-Types: Walls such as Quilladin and Defensive Tangela can switch in freely against Trevenant while only fearing Trick. Even with the addition of X-Scissor, these walls cannot be 2HKOd and can stall out Trevenant. remove last sentence if you decide to remove x-scissor

Sap Sipper Bouffalant: Bouffalant is immune to both of your STAB options and forces the Trevenant to lock into Earthquake or Rock Slide and can also Pursuit trap Trevenant. However Bouffalant can struggle to do much damage back and Earthquake and Rock Slide both can break Bouffalant's Substitute.

Fire-Types: Monferno, Ninetales, Rapidash, Combusken, and Simisear can all outspeed Trevenant and OHKO with a STAB Fire move. None of these threats can freely switch in due to taking high damage from even a resisted Wood Hammer and the threat of a predicted Rock Slide or Earthquake, however Rapidash has the ability to later heal off the damage taken.
lmk when u implemented and I can look over again and stamp

(The first sentence is more for Set Details if anything, so I'd move this line here.)Offensive Trick Room sets are also a possibility thanks to Trevenant's low speed and high Attack and damage output, but can face competition from Gourgeist-Super who has Explosion and priority options in the form of Shadow Sneak. These options means that Gourgeist-Super can support the team more and work outside of Trick Room, but is ultimately notably weaker than Trevenant.

Gimmick sets that utilize Harvest are also particularly tempting and popular, but are usually not consistent enough to be worth the team slot. Lum Berry can be used to absorb status for Trevenant's teammates and give it a possible free heal with Rest, but Trevenant is not bulky enough to consistently pull this strategy off and is eclipsed by Gourgeist-Super in almost all defensive sets. Another notable Harvest set of Sitrus Berry with Substitute and Leech Seed is also possible but not advised as many threats in PU, such as Quilladin and Substitute Bouffalant, are largely unaffected by this kind of sets and in worst case scenario present a setup opportunity.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bulky Grass-Types:** Walls such as Quilladin and Defensive Tangela can switch in freely against Trevenant while only fearing Trick.

**Sap Sipper Bouffalant:** Bouffalant is immune to both of your STAB options and forces the Trevenant to lock into Earthquake or Rock Slide and can also Pursuit trap Trevenant. However Bouffalant can struggle to do much damage back and Earthquake and Rock Slide both can break Bouffalant's Substitute.

**Flying-Types:** Threats such as Dodrio can outspeed Trevenant and OHKO with Brave Bird. On the other hand, walls such as Altaria and Vullaby can come in and wall a Trevenant that is locked into a resisted move.(Mention that none of these mons wants to switch in on a predicted Rock Slide.)

**Dark-Types:** Threats such as Pawniard and Cacturne can force Trevenant out by threatening to outspeed and OHKO. However, Trevenant can OHKO Pawniard and Cacturne with an Earthquake and Wood Hammer after rocks, respectively.

**Fire-Types:** Monferno, Ninetales, Rapidash, Combusken, and Simisear can all outspeed Trevenant and OHKO with a STAB Fire move. None of these threats can freely switch in due to taking high damage from even a resisted Wood Hammer and the threat of a predicted Rock Slide or Earthquake, however Rapidash has the ability to later heal off the damage taken.

[OVERVIEW]

Trevenant's combination of a high Attack stat and access to STAB Wood Hammer makes it one of the strongest dedicated wallbreakers in PU. Trevenant's Additionally, its strong array of coverage options such as Earthquake and Rock Slide, which (just Rock Slide or both? if it's just Rock Slide make this "the latter of which", otherwise kill the entire clause and change "coverage options" to "unique coverage options") is largely unique to Trevenant, gives it coverage for lets it take on common Grass checks such as Mawile and Altaria respectively. This ability to 2HKO common Grass switchins switch-ins gives Trevenant a unique niche of being able to possibly break through its, and all other Grass attackers, own common switchins counters. (ig? repetition) Access to Natural Cure also gives Trevenant an additional niche over other Grass attackers and walls such as Leafeon and Gourgeist-Super Gourgeist-XL. However, Trevenant's low speed and competition from more competent Grass-types such as Leafeon, that which is faster and has setup options, and Gourgeist-Super, who Gourgeist-XL, which is bulkier overall, keep Trevenant from standing out on it's its own in both an offensive and defensive light.

Moves
========

Wood Hammer is chosen as the primary STAB option, as it (Trevenant's Wood Hammer? vague) is the most powerful Grass-type attack in the tier. Shadow Claw is for provides a secondary STAB and for hittings attack that hits walls such as Gourgeist-Super, Gourgeist-XL; however, (AC) it should be noted that locking into a Ghost move in PU can be detrimental, (AC) as PU has a large number of strong Normal-types (AH) that would take advantage of this. Rock Slide is for hitting Flying-type Pokemon such as Vullaby and Fire-type Pokemon such as Rapidash, (AC) and 2HKOing all of them.The last slot is quite versatile, customizable, but the recommended move is Earthquake for 2HKOing defensive Mawile even after an Intimidate. Other options include Trick to cripple any walls that may switch in; (SC) however, (AC) by tricking giving the Choice Band away, (AC) Trevenant forfeits its ability to 2HKO many common Grass switch-ins such as Vullaby. Horn Leech is also an option for healing, since Trevenant can get worn down quickly through switching in and Wood Hammer recoil. Due to the lack in power, however, it is not recommended that Horn Leech replace Wood Hammer; (SC) and instead, (AC) it should work as a secondary and weaker Grass option if used at all.

Set Details
========

The Speed EVs that are shown are set to always outspeed Adamant maximum Speed Mawile, who which can force Trevenant to switch out otherwise with a strong Knock Off. Trevenant can run 252 Speed to outspeed neutral-natured (AH) Cacturne; (SC) however, (AC) this is not recommended due to Cacturne's ability to OHKO it with Sucker Punch, which nullifies any Speed that Trevenant has. The leftover EVs are put into HP for some additional bulk, (AC) as Trevenant's natural bulk is fairly respectable. Choice Band is the item of choice to make Trevenant as strong as possible in conjunction with the Attack EVs and Adamant nature, which guarantees the 2HKO on many threats and switchins switch-ins such as Vullaby and defensive Mawile. Natural Cure is used to heal off any burns so Trevenant is not crippled by them while also acting letting it act as a general status absorber for the rest of the team.

Usage Tips
========

Trevenant is heavily reliant on the player's ability to properly predict their opponent. If predicted correctly, Trevenant has the ability to 2hko 2HKO most of the common Grass switch-ins PU has to offer. If the player predicts incorrectly, then whatever move that Trevevant locks itself into is usually an easy switch-in for a Pokemon that either resists or is immune to the move. An example would be that For example, locking into Shadow Claw gives a free switchin switch for Stoutland, or and locking into Wood Hammer gives a free switchin for Vullaby. It is exceedingly important to predict often and predict well in order for Trevenant to succeed. Bring Trevenant in in the earlier parts of the game to soften the opponent opposing team with its wallbreaking ability, but always be prepared to switch it back out. Additionally, thanks to Trevenant's decent natural bulk, coming in on resisted moves like an Earth Power from a Stunfisk is also acceptable. Trevenant can also switch in on a Scald if necessary, (AC) as the Natural Cure will get rid of the possible burn. Using Trevenant as a status absorber is a decent option for both taking a Toxic or Thunder Wave for a partner while also both affording a subjectively relatively free switch-in for Trevenant by simply healing the affliction on the switch.

Team Options
========

Trevenant's primary niche is its ability to weaken common Grass switchins switch-ins, so a great partner for Trevenant is another Grass sweeper such as Leafeon or Jumpluff that appreciates this ability. Partners such as Leafeon or Jumpluff are great examples of partners that appreciate Trevenant weakening or knocking out their common switchins. Monferno and Pawniard are also notable partners options if you do not want to stack Grass-types, (AH) as they also appreciate targets such as Vullaby out of the way to ease their own sweep. Partners that can give Trevenant a free switch-in through U-turn or Volt Switch is also a good strategy work well, and choices such as Rotom-Frost and Monferno can succeed in this role. Additionally, while Trevenant is strong on its own, it still requires Stealth Rock on the field to solidify the 2HKO on some notable threats such as Vullaby. As such, Thus, choices such as Metang and Mawile are good partners for both providing Stealth Rock and patching up some type weaknesses Trevenant has. Defensive partners can consist of choices such as Mawile, who which can switch in on Flying and Dark attacks, or and Altaria, who which can switch in on Fire attacks. Having defensive partners for Trevenant is advised due to the nature of because Trevenant having has to switch in and out on a regular basis, so therefore having making reliable teammates to switch to to absorb the attack meant for Trevenant is a strong asset to the team.

Offensive Trick Room sets are also a possibility thanks to Trevenant's low Speed and high Attack and damage output, but they can face competition from Gourgeist-Super who Gourgeist-XL, which has Explosion and priority options in the form of Shadow Sneak. Another notable Harvest set of Sitrus Berry with Substitute and Leech Seed is also possible, (AC) but this is not advised as because many threats in PU, such as Quilladin and Substitute Bouffalant, are largely unaffected by this kind of sets it and in a worst case scenario present can use it a setup opportunity.

**Fire-types:** Monferno, Ninetales, Rapidash, Combusken, and Simisear can all outspeed Trevenant and OHKO with a STAB Fire move.
