Ubers Speed Tiers

(Thread, Banner, and Formatting by Minority, Approved by Ubers Moderation Team)

~ These tier lists are limited to (mostly) viable Pokemon, but are intended to lean more towards being inclusive
~ Pokemon within each list are in descending order of their real speed stat
~ The first number in parentheses represents the number of EVs
~ A (+ or -) indicates how the nature affects the speed stat
~ A second number in parentheses represents the number of IVs, only written out for zeros
~ "At" followed by "+ some number" indicates a stat increase either from a Choice Scarf or a speed-boosting move / ability
~ Post additions / revisions with justification

Mega Blaziken, Mega Mawile and Mega TTar aren't in the games (No mega stone).

Is max speed jolly metagross really a thing that deserves a speed tier? It's not like you've included the mega version of it, and also it's not viable (imo).

Also, why the 216 speed Aero? The reason in ORAS is to outspeed Darkrai premega, but now that you get instant mega speed, it's kinda superfluous, and I'd rather just speed tie with Deo-a with max speed, as well as outspeeding Adamant DD Ray.

Xern spreads could do with a bit of updating too actually. 44 speed (ie Genesect) isn't on there, nor is 0 speed at +2 (for max defense max HP geoxerns like blockxern)

76 seems weird to me, do you really speed creep Deo-S specifically? If so I'd like to hear your reasoning.

Also 186 184 and 168+ seem excessive. 186 is not a multiple of 4 and therefore isn't an ev number, and you dont mention either of them until showing them at +2 out speeding various excadrill. While they do serve a purpose, I think it might be better just to remove them altogether.

Finally, ZGeo is prominent enough on the ladder that some +3 xern speeds should probably be added.

168+ Xerneas at +2 will stay as a reminder that Xerneas can be faster than Jolly Excadrill in sand if it wants to be (and just about everything else too). The Adamant Excadrill one was removed. 76 was changed to 84 as this beats +1 252 Mega Salamence at +2 and also serves as your general creep for that clustered Speed tier prior to Geo. Adding a 44 Speed Xerneas spread is sorta nonsensical considering the current viability of Genesect.

Both Mega Mewtwos have been released today and should be added to this list. MM2Y hits 416 Speed with a Timid nature and MM2X can go next to reg Mewtwo and MegaGar at 394.

Need to add 192+ Supportceus and Mmence, most common speed tier for supportceus to outpace MLuke, as does Defog Mmence which has gained a lot of traction as of late.
Also MDiancie is out so add whatever speed tiers are needed for it

Can we include Terrakion 346 Jolly or is it based just on the viability thread? I'm seeing stuff like Nihilego so I'm not sure what the parameter is here for what's included and what isn't in regards to "mostly viable" mentioned in the OP. It's used as a lead so I don't think an additional speed tier such as Scarf would be necessary if included.

Just for future reference and anyone who has Pokemon they want to see added or removed, this thread is based on a philosophy of balancing inclusivity with lack of focus. Obviously Pokemon such as Dragonite or Volcarona won't be added anytime soon, but things like Terrakion, Nihilego, and Scolipede are fair game. Reason being that while the viability of such Pokemon is questionable, you might actually run into such things, and its nice to compare tailored spreads and know what kind of niche mons they beat.

If the Pokemon has an Ubers analysis it will be added here (possibly some small exceptions). Anything without an analysis and it's up to the individual to bring it up and explain why its worth noting here. Hope this clears things up a bit for future suggestions.

Add
248 speed arceus, (252+ arceus with one speed drop)
may be useful for sticky web teams (or rock tomb groudon)

Of note, Necrozma gets Rock Polish, so perhaps +1 and +2 Necrozma forms should be added (+1 in case of Sticky Web). Especially DMNecro thanks to its type easing setup.

This thread is pretty much dead but...
I think scarfed Necrozma-Dawn Wings should be added
Scarf Necrozma-DW (252+) hits 417, making it a potent MMY and Mega Gengar revenge killer with Moongeist, Zyggy with HP Ice, and Pheramosa that’s not Beast Boosting it’s speed with photon geyser

Why use Scarf Dawn Wings over Scarf Lunala, though, which can do the exact same thing but much better in just about every way? Lunala even has Ice Beam over HP Ice, and Pheromosa (a digimon) dies to a Lunala's Moongeist Beam anyway. While Dawn Wings is naturally stronger, it has worse speed (loses out on a lot of speed boosters such as DD Adamant Rayquaza, and can't outrun +Speed Deo-A and neutral Scarf Yveltal) and has worse coverage due to a lack of Focus Blast, making it even more vulnerable to the likes of T-Tar, Arceus-N, and Arceus-Dark, for instance.

If there is a spot for Tentacruel and Flygon, which I personally have barely ever seen in OU, much less in Ubers, I feel like a spot for Scarfed N-DW shouldn’t be too bad of a thing to have added.

Things like Tentacruel and Flygon are there because they have a unique niche in which they are not outclassed (although pex and lando are a thing so that's its separate argument, but like theoretically). What matters to be worth a spot in here (and the VR, etc) is having some unique niche, not how good the niche is in some absolute sense. Scarf N-DW is actually outclassed by Lunala, so it shouldn't get one.

Your original post says the thread is "dead" as if you're trying to revive interest in a topic, but this isn't that type of thread. It's just meant to be collaboratively assembling a resource for teambuilding, and once that resource is done there is no need for further posts here, unless someone makes an actual new set with an actual new speed tier to watch out for. Looking for random speed tiers to add just to have some activity would actually make it less useful by crowding out the good information.
