USM Ubers Analysis Index

USM Ubers Analysis Index

Welcome to USM Ubers C&C! With a new game comes a need for new analyses to assist new players and veterans joining the community alike, and with the help of our writers and QC team, we aim to provide just that.

For our USM C&C, the plan is to start with skeletons... and keep it that way! This aims to be more beginner friendly and also assists greatly in keeping things updated and fast moving. Don't know what a skeleton is? Check out this post for an idea of how the format looks, and our Primal Groudon skeleton for an idea of how it works in practice.

More information can be found at these links, which is a handy read for newcomers to C&C:

The C&C Process

As mentioned above, skeletons use this format. You should fill the gaps with information in bullet points, making sure the information you are adding is relevant to the Pokemon, and the section of the skeleton in relation to the Pokemon. Most importantly, make sure the content is of a good quality.

If you are unsure on the formatting, keep an eye out for badgeholders reserving other skeletons, as they are probably experienced in the process and you can draw inspiration... but not too much! That leads onto our next point:

Plagiarism (taking work from previous skeletons/analyses as using it as your own) is a severe offense in this subforum, and will result in immediate reassignment and a harsh infraction. You have been warned.

With the doom and gloom out of the way, here is how your skeleton will transition from an empty page to a section of our Smogon Dex:
  • Reserve an analysis by posting in this thread, checking that the Pokemon in question hasn't been reserved already by checking the reservation list and posts before your own.
  • You now have 3 days to get a skeleton up, running, and able to be reviewed by the QC team. Failure to reach this deadline without any explanation to the C&C leaders is very likely to result in a reassignment. This will be enforced more tightly early on.
  • The QC team will then review the skeleton and give feedback. If a QC member is ok with the content, you will receive a stamp.
  • After 3 stamps, you will then move onto the Grammar and Prose stage, where the GP team will take over and correct any spelling and grammar issues before it is uploaded to the site.
  • After 2 GP checks are fully implemented, it's ready to be uploaded!
The QC Team

The QC team is a handpicked bunch of able and willing players that show a good grasp of the C&C process and most importantly, the metagame they do QC checks for. Strong activity on the forums and Discord is a great trait for current and aspiring members as they are what keep this section moving forward. The role of the QC team is to assess and offer advice/criticism, but more importantly, give QC checks to analyses in progress. If you wish to become a QC member, show your knowledge and activity via am QC checks on skeletons or in Discord discussions and you may be invited to join us!

If your skeleton has been sitting around without any progress for too long, feel free to directly tag the QC team via the Ubers Discord at https://discord.gg/Ybycvrw in the #analyses channel. All QC are encouraged to be active on this platform, and they have a specific role group that they can be tagged by: "@QC".

Reservation Rules

The more important Pokemon in Ubers C&C will have Badgeholder (BH) restrictions in order to maintain a higher level of quality and ensure they are in reliable hands. The QC team also have the power to give non-badgeholders the ability to reserve these Pokemon if they believe that the required quality/knowledge from a user is acceptable, regardless of whether or not they have a badge. Generally these cases are rare and require the user to have good knowledge of the C&C process beforehand.

These are the rules and regulations on reservations:
  • Non-badgeholders can take up to two skeletons. Badgeholders can take up to 3, potentially more if approved by the Ubers C&C leaders.
  • If you have had a skeleton reassigned for quality concerns or inactivity, you will be restricted to 1 until something successfully makes it to the upload stage.
  • Users can take more skeletons once one of their reserved analyses are completed or are in the GP process.
  • This thread is the only place to reserve analyses. If a QC member has given you the approval to take a skeleton on a different platform (Discord/PS), make sure to specify that in your post.
  • Keep an eye out for posts in front of you before reserving - the reservation list may not be completely updated if we have a large influx of things flying around.
  • If a non-Uber Pokemon is not on the reservation list and you strongly believe it deserves coverage in the Ubers metagame, you are welcome to contact the QC team on Discord and it can be addressed.
  • Do not reserve skeletons/analyses if you do not have extensive knowledge and experience with the Pokemon at hand and the metagame. If either of these issues become evident, the analysis may (and probably will) be reassigned.
Analysis Thread Tag Information

Threads posted in this forum can also be equipped with tags, which should be used to indicate at a glance where in the C&C process your analysis or skeleton currently is. Here is the general idea of what to use, and when:

WIP - This tag should be used just after reserving an analysis. Posting empty threads with this tag is ok, but remember you only have 3 days to fill it with QC-ready information!

Quality Control - This tag should be used to indicate that your analysis is ready to be checked by the QC team. If the analysis is a revamp, or just one set addition over a full revamp, specify that in the title of the thread. Here are some examples:

Groudon - QC 0/3
Groudon (Mixed Rock Polish)* - QC 0/3

* This indicates the set name and therefore that the thread will only contain one set, without anything else. An analysis for something like a niche pokemon with one set does not require this, as such an analysis will still require things like an Overview and Checks & Counters.

Copyediting - This tag indicates that you have reached (and implemented) all 3 QC checks required, and the analysis is ready to be assessed by the Grammar and Prose team. They will take care of any grammar issues and pretty it up for reading purposes on the dex. Make sure to proof read and minimize any errors before posting it in the GP queue to save both you and the GP team some work! The skeleton will be ready to be uploaded after 2 GP checks.

Done -
This indicates that the analysis is completely finished and ready to be uploaded to the site by the C&C moderators.

Reservation List

Note that all Pokemon that are Ubers by tiering require an analysis, no matter what their true viability in Ubers is. Pokemon not Ubers by tiering and not on the reservation list require QC approval to have a skeleton started as noted earlier. Remember - the (BH) tag means it can only be reserved by badgeholders or otherwise approved writers!

As for a special explanation, Necrozma's new formes will be seperated into two skeletons - one for Dusk Mane, the other for Dawn Wings. Ultra Necrozma will be treated similarly to a Mega Evolution, only with 2 base formes, which means it will be incorporated into Dusk and Dawn's skeletons. To make sure the formatting is done correctly and the analysis has the ideal content, these analyses will be done "in house" by the QC team.

None! All the Pokemon currently approved for Ubers analyses have been completed. With USM almost over, our analysis coverage ends here. CMS edits for USM entries may still be considered if brought up in the thread.
You may have noticed we don't have many Pokemon with a (BH) tag. This is to give the community more of a chance to prove themselves with the more common Pokemon in the tier, but the QC team will be closely watching the more viable Pokemon for any quality concerns.

May I take Necrozma-Dusk Mane if I am worthy?

If you don't trust me, I can talk with QC to make sure what I have to show.

Edit: Sorry I can't read lol, I will take Tyranitar.

The idea behind keeping them QC in-house is because of the analysis formatting itself potentially changing to incorporate Ultra Necrozma properly, something that can't be regularly communicated with a non-QC member as it also involves the GP team and/or Site Staff overall to change said format. I don't plan to change this as it is too finicky to work around.
