IT'S FINK DUMBASS

[OVERVIEW]

Alolan Sandslash can set up Stealth Rock and remove entry hazards using Rapid Spin. It also has the ability to check several special attackers such as Whimsicott and Vanilluxe thanks to its Ice / Steel typing as well as a small niche as a sweeper under hail thanks to its ability Slush Rush. One thing that makes Alolan Sandslash valuable as a spinner is that, unlike other Rapid Spin users like Blastoise, it is immune to Toxic Spikes. However, Alolan Sandslash is quite ineffective against some of the tier's top threats, such as Incineroar and Passimian. This is because they resist Alolan Sandslash's STAB moves and retaliate with 4x super effective hits such as Flare Blitz and Close Combat. Nevertheless, Alolan Sandslash is a viable option as a Stealth Rock user or spinner on teams that need it and gives the team a good specially defensive tank.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Alolan Sandslash's main niche is to provide Stealth Rock for the team, inflicting necessary chip for some Pokemon. Rapid Spin can also be used to prevent possible partners such as Incineroar and Braviary from taking chip from Stealth Rock, which easily whittles them down. Toxic allows Alolan Sandslash to slowly whittle down some of its counters such as Slowbro and Slowking. Icicle Crash hits some of the Pokemon Alolan Sandslash will be checking, specifically Grass- and Flying-types such as Whimsicott and Golbat. Icicle Spear is an option over Icicle Crash, as it allows Alolan Sandslash to easily deal with Substitute users such as Vivillon, Whimsicott, and Swords Dance Sceptile with multiple hits. Knock Off is able to get rid of items from would-be switch-ins, such as Incineroar's Iapapa Berry, Blastoise and Hariyama's Leftovers, and even Type: Null and Ferroseed's Eviolite. Iron Head can be used over Knock Off to better check Pokemon such as Comfey and Vanilluxe.

Set Details
========

Leftovers increases Alolan Sandslash's longevity while also reducing the chip damage it incurs every time it wants to come in to get rid of entry hazards. This also happens to be Alolan Sandslash's only form of recovery. A Careful nature with maximum HP and Special Defense EVs makes Alolan Sandslash as specially bulky as possible. Lastly, Slush Rush is used over Snow Cloak, since the Speed is much more valued over evasiveness during hail, helping Alolan Sandslash outspeed Vanilluxe, a primary hail setter, and other Pokemon on your opponent's team.

Usage Tips
========

While Alolan Sandslash should come in on Pokemon like Whimsicott, some Pokemon that it checks such as Vanilluxe usually carry an attack that will prohibit Alolan Sandslash from coming in safely. In the case of Vanilluxe, it uses Hidden Power Ground, meaning prediction is required in order to get Alolan Sandslash in safely. Another thing to consider is that Stealth Rock is not only valuable for Alolan Sandslash's teammates but also for itself, helping it chip down some of its checks such as Incineroar and Braviary. If the opponent has a Ghost-type such as Dhelmise or Rotom, it may be wise to hold off on using Rapid Spin to not lose too much momentum. Instead, you could use Knock Off to help chip down or do heavy damage to said Ghost-types. Try not to let Alolan Sandslash come in on Knock Off, as keeping Leftovers is pivotal for getting any sort of recovery outside of Wish passing.

Team Options
========

Fire-resistant Pokemon such as Incineroar and Slowking are incredible partners for Alolan Sandslash, as they cover up one of its crippling weaknesses. For the same reason, you should also run Fighting-type switch-ins such as Slowbro and Vileplume. Alolan Sandslash is also weak to Ground, and while it is not as serious as its weaknesses to Fire and Fighting, it would be wise to pair Alolan Sandslash with Ground-type checks such as Rotom and Whimsicott. Torterra is another great example, as it is a more defensive alternative to Whimsicott that has access to the powerful Wood Hammer, a more powerful attack than Energy Ball. Pursuit trappers such as Sneasel and Houndoom are great partners for Alolan Sandslash, as they trap Ghost-types like Mismagius and Rotom that prevent Alolan Sandslash from removing entry hazards with Rapid Spin. Spikers like Garbodor and Ferroseed love the presence of Alolan Sandslash, as spinners help remove opposing entry hazards while also keeping your own hazards up.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Alolan Sandslash can also run a sweeper set with Swords Dance and Slush Rush when paired with Pokemon with Snow Warning like Aurorus and Vanilluxe. When using this set, Alolan Sandslash should use Swords Dance on an expected switch and deal as much damage as possible while hail is active. You should also make sure to keep its HP as high as possible if it intends to set up and sweep. However, this strategy is uncommonly used because of the unreliability Aurorus and Vanilluxe have as consistent Snow Warning users. This set runs Icicle Crash, Earthquake, and a filler move such as Iron Head or Rapid Spin. It should also run maximum investment in Attack and Speed and a Jolly nature so that it is as fast and as powerful as possible.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-type Attacks**: Fire-types like Incineroar and Magmortar and Pokemon with Fire-type coverage moves like Guzzlord, Slowking, and Assault Vest Slowbro are massive problems for Alolan Sandslash.

**Fighting-type Attacks**: Like with Fire-type attacks, Alolan Sandslash is also 4x weak to Fighting-type attacks. This is especially detrimental because Passimian is such a prominent Pokemon in the tier. Other Pokemon that you should look out for with Fighting-type moves are Sceptile, Heliolisk, Hitmonlee, and especially Hariyama due to its ability Thick Fat allowing it to switch in with ease.

**Ground-type Attacks**: While Ground-type attacks aren't as threatening as Fire-type and Fighting-type attacks, as Ground is merely a 2x weakness, you should still watch out for Pokemon like Steelix and Rhydon. However, most of these Ground-type Pokemon, like Torterra and Rhydon, are weak to Icicle Crash, making it difficult for them to switch in constantly.

**Steel-types**: Steel-types threaten Alolan Sandslash both offensively and defensively. For example, Silvally-Steel comes in for free on pretty much all of Alolan Sandslash's moves, resists Iron Head and Icicle Crash, is immune to Toxic, and can quickly get rid of Stealth Rock with Defog. Like the other Steel-types, Silvally-Steel also has a coverage move in Flamethrower to hit Alolan Sandslash with. Another example is Klinklang, which comes in and sets up on Alolan Sandslash freely.

**Ghost-types**: As Ghost-types can block Alolan Sandslash's Rapid Spin, they quickly become a problem for it. Examples of said Ghost-types include Rotom and Mismagius.

[OVERVIEW]
  • Alolan Sandslash functions as both a Pokemon that sets up Stealth Rocks, and one that can also remover remove hazards using Rapid Spin.
  • Its niche over other rockers and removers is that it can perform both roles at the same time, while also being good at both separately as well. combine these first two bullets into one since they're basically stating the same thing
  • Alolan Sandslash also has the ability to check several special attackers, such as Vanilluxe and Whimsicott.
  • Its access to good Ice-type and Steel-type STABs allows it to deal heavy damage to these Pokemon as well.
  • While usually used as both a hazard setter and a spinner, it can also perform one or the other, depending on what a team calls for. imo the reason you use alolalash is for role compression, though you should probably be slashing rocks and spin with toxic rather than iron head if alolalash can go either way in terms of hazard setter or spinner
  • Alolan Sandslash can also perform as a sweeper under Hail, thanks to its ability Slush Rush.
  • Another one of Alolan Sandslash's niches is that it is the only Ice-resistant Stealth Rocker viable in NU.
  • Overall, Alolan Sandslash is a good combination of a hazard setter and remover, as well as also being able to function on Hail teams.
make light of its negatives too since overview should not just list positive traits; alolalash can't do jack to top tier threats like incin and slowbro unless you carry toxic, its got two 4x weaknesses (fire and fighting, both of which are p common), and it's prone to being worn down especially if you lose your item

[SET]
name: Specially Defensive Stealth Rocker
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: Rapid Spin
move 3: Icicle Crash
move 4: Iron Head / Toxic slash toxic with crash imo since iron head hits what you're checking the hardest (ice- and fairy-types) and toxic is honestly needed so you can actually deal with bulky waters
item: Leftovers
ability: Slush Rush
nature: Careful
evs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD I'm a fan of putting the last evs into speed for speed creep but that's personal preference

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Firstly, Stealth Rock is run since Alolan Sandslash is generally going to be the primary or secondary Stealth Rockers Rocker on most teams, providing the team with necessary chip for some Pokemon. I'd reword this to mention how rocks are mandatory on good teams
  • Second, Rapid Spin is used to remove hazards for your team as well, which could get some damage off on your Pokemon, being beneficial for the opponent.
  • Next, Icicle Crash is one of the attacking moves of choice, as it hits some of the Pokemon you'll be checking, specifically Grass-types and some Flying-types, such as Whimsicott and Golbat respectively.
  • Lastly, Iron Head is run to hit the likes of Vanilluxe and Cryogonal, two other Pokemon you'll be checking.
  • Toxic can be run over Iron Head if you want collateral damage on bulky Water-types such as Vaporeon and Slowbro, if you are okay versus the Ice-types.

Set Details
========

  • Leftovers is the item of choice to increase Alolan Sandslash's longevity, while also reducing the chip every time it wants to come in to get rid of hazards. also mention how this is alolalash's only form of self recovery
  • Slush Rush is used over Snow Cloak since the Speed is much more valued over evasiveness, since you aren't guaranteed to dodge every attack. The Speed also helps versus Pokemon such as Sigilyph, which outside of Hail would out speed you and most likely knock you out with Heat Wave. move mention of the ability to the last bullet since it's the least important part of the set; the elaboration also isn't really needed since it makes it seem like you would only use alolalash on hail teams
  • Careful nature with the current spread makes Alolan Sandslash as specially defensively bulky as possible, while also providing a miniature increase in it's attack stat. tbh the attack boost mention isn't necessary since it isn't doing anything; this is why i recommend moving the last evs to speed so it has some semblance of usefulness
  • 248 HP is run over 252 HP so that Alolan Sandslash takes less from Stealth Rocks hazards, which it will be coming in on a lot.

Usage Tips
========

  • While Alolan Sandslash checks the likes of Whismicott and others, it may not be wise to send it in directly versus some of these Pokemon like Vanilluxe, which carry moves that do a lot of damage to Alolan Sandslash, like in the case of Vanilluxe, Hidden Power Ground.
  • Stealth Rocks are not only valuable for Alolan Sandslash's teammates, but they are also valuable for itself. They help chip down some of its checks such as Incineroar and Delphox, both of which take 25% from rocks due to their Fire-typing. this doesn't really seem like a usage tip as much as it seems like a set detail; put more emphasis on getting rocks up asap to check these threatening fire-types
  • If the opponent has a Ghost-type such as Mismagius or Haunter, it may be wise to hold off on clicking Rapid Spin, so to not lose too much momentum, since Ghost-types are immune to Rapid Spin, meaning that the move will essentially fail, and the hazards will not be removed from the field.
  • If you decide to run Toxic rather than Iron Head, a good tip is that opposing Slowbro are one of the many resists to Alolan Sandslash's STABs, so getting some residual damage off on these checks, Slowbro included, would be beneficial for it.

Team Options
========

  • Fire-type Resists: Pokémon that resist Fire-type attacks such as Incineroar and Slowking are great for Alolan Sandslash, since Alolan Sandslash is 4x weak to Fire-type moves.
  • Fighting-type Resists: The same can be said about Fighting-type moves, so you'll want resists such as Slowbro and Vileplume to assist Alolan Sandslash's endeavors.
  • Ground-type Resists: Lastly, Alolan Sandslash is weak to Ground-type attacks, so it would be wise to pair it with Pokémon like ??? think you just forgot about this part lol
  • Pursuit Trappers: Pursuit trappers such as Sneasel and Houndoom are great partners for Alolan Sandslash, as they trap the Ghost-types such as Palossand and Rotom, which prevent it from removing hazards with Rapid Spin.
mention spikes users as potential teammates since rapid spin is appreciated by spikes builds much more than Defog

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Alolan Sandslash can run a Swords Dance + Slush Rush sweeper set on hail, paired with Pokémon with Snow Warning like Aurorus and Vanilluxe. Essentially, the goal is for Alolan Sandslash to get up a Swords Dance, and deal as much damage as possible to opposing Pokémon in the eight turns that Hail is running for. This strategy is uncommonly used to due the unreliability Aurorus and Vanilluxe have as consistent Snow Warning users to enable abusers like Alolan Sandslash. If you choose to use this strategy, be sure to use it with the correct support, abusers, and setters for success.
knock off is maybe worth mentioning, though I'd generally emphasize the lack of decent other options

Checks and Counters
===================

Fire-type Attacks: As aforementioned in the analysis, Fire-types like Incineroar and Houndoom are a massive problem for Alolan Sandslash, as it is 4x weak to their Fire-type attacks. This of course, can also apply to the likes of Guzzlord. which runs Fire Blast, so don't try and switch Alolan Sandslash into anything that might be running fire coverage. Other Pokémon to look out for with Fire coverage are Delphox, Slowbro, and Slowking.

Fighting-type Attacks: Like Fire-type attacks, Alolan Sandslash is also 4x weak to Fighting-type attacks. This is especially important when Passimian is such a prominent Pokémon, being one of the most splashable in the tier. Other Pokémon that you should look out for with Fighting-type moves are Sceptile, Heliolisk, Hitmonlee, and especially Hariyama, which is fairly bulky, and Assault Vest sets that run Thick Fat are especially resistant to Icicle Crash.

Ground-type Attacks: Ground-type attacks aren't as threatening as Fire-type and Fighting-type attacks are to Alolan Sandslash, as Ground is merely a 2x weakness. However, like any weakness, it's still something you should definitely watch out for, and while Ground-types are weak to Icicle Crash, it is important to note that most Ground-types used are fairly physically bulky (with the exception of Torterra), and carry Earthquake, which is STAB and a pretty powerful Ground-type move. Other Pokémon also carry Ground-type coverage, such as Passimian and the occasional Sceptile, so Ground-type moves aren't scarce either. All in all, while only a 2x weakness, Ground-type attacks are certainly something to look out for when using Alolan Sandslash.

Ghost-types: Ghost-types aren't necessarily threats to Alolan Sandslash, especially since most of them are special attackers. The real problem with Ghost-types for Alolan Sandslash are their immunity to Normal-type moves, which the one in question in this case is Rapid Spin. Since Ghost-types are immune to Rapid Spin, if they switch into a Rapid Spin, the hazards on the field will not be removed, meaning that Ghost-types are a bit problematic for Alolan Sandslash, and they should be dealt with accordingly.

Steel-types: While Steel-types threaten Alolan Sandslash offensively, they also threaten Alolan Sandslash defensively. For example, Silvally-Steel comes in for free on pretty much all of Alolan Sandslash's moves, being resistant to Rapid Spin, Iron Head, and Icicle Crash, is also immune to Toxic, and can quickly get rid of Stealth Rocks with Defog. Silvally-Steel, like the other Steel-types, have a coverage move to hit Alolan Sandslash with. For example, Silvally-Steel runs Flamethrower, Klinklang runs Wild Charge, and Steelix has Earthquake STAB. Overall, Steel-types can be a pain for Alolan Sandslash to deal with, and when team building and playing should be looked out for.
a few general comments:

there's a lot of fluff in this analysis I feel, especially in c&c; you don't really need to elaborate super in-depth about how rapid spin doesn't work against ghost types, so that means you don't clear hazards, and you lost momentum. in general (and I'll mainly address c&c section here) mention something like "Pokemon such as Incineroar and Delphox threaten to OHKO Alolan Sandslash with super effective STAB Fire moves", or "Ghost-types such as Rotom and Mismagius block Rapid Spin, though must be weary of a potential Toxic".

also note that gp team will not want the fancy e for when you spell Pokemon; they just want a normal e

Thanks so much, I’ll definitely be implementing some of this, in fact I’m gonna end up putting Knock Off in the main set.

  • Alolan Sandslash can also perform as a sweeper under Hail, thanks to its ability Slush Rush.
  • Another niche that Alolan Sandslash carries is that as a Rapid Spinner, it is immune to Toxic Spikes, something that Blastoise isn't. Add in a mention of Dhelmise.
  • One problem for Alolan Sandslash is that it is quite ineffective against some of the tier's top threats, and that it also has some 4x weaknesses to Fire-type and Fighting-type moves. Examples.
  • Overall, Alolan Sandslash is a good combination of a hazard setter and remover, is a good addition on hail teams, but is a quite weak to some of the tier's top threats, as well as having some glaring weaknesses. Imo redundant bullet, rework.

Moves
========
  • Firstly, Stealth Rock is run since Alolan Sandslash is generally going to be the primary or secondary Stealth Rocker on most teams, providing the team with necessary chip for some Pokemon.
  • Rapid Spin is slashed because you can run one or the other. Stealth Rock isn't necessarily better than Rapid Spin, it just all depends on what your team needs to have. If you already have a Pokemon with Stealth Rock, you may want to run Rapid Spin instead, or, you may want to run both. It all depends on what your team needs.Reword, talk about individual merits, then say that running both can be suboptimal.
  • Toxic is another mandatory move, as it helps Alolan Sandslash versus Pokemon like Slowbro and Incineroar, which normally would come in for free on Alolan Sandslash and its STABs, so it is definitely required that you have something to chip those down, whether it be that you have Toxic to whittle them down, or an entirely different Pokemon. That's why you could also run Rapid Spin or Stealth Rock over Toxic if your team wants it. This bullet is way too long.
  • Next, Icicle Crash is one of the attacking moves of choice, as it hits some of the Pokemon you'll be checking, specifically Grass-types and some Flying-types, such as Whimsicott and Golbat respectively.
  • Finally, Knock Off is the last move because it supports the team overall being able to get rid of Leftovers and other items off of some Pokemon that might threaten Alolan Sandslash, as well as helping other teammates as well. Which pokemon (provide examples, i.e. Iapapa Incin and Lix)
  • Iron Head is a useful option over Knock Off, since it allows Alolan Sandslash to hit the likes of Vanilluxe and Whimsicott, which Alolan Sandslash is good at checking.

Set Details
========

  • Leftovers is the item of choice to increase Alolan Sandslash's longevity, while also reducing the chip every time it wants to come in to get rid of hazards. This also happens to be Alolan Sandslash's only form of recovery, and since it is going to be coming in a lot to soak hits and remove hazards, it would be wise to not let it get Knock Off'd by opposing Pokemon.
  • Careful nature with the current spread makes Alolan Sandslash as specially defensively bulky as possible, while also providing a miniature increase in it's attack stat.
  • 248 HP is run over 252 HP so that Alolan Sandslash takes less from hazards, which it will be coming in on a lot.
Just say that outrunning Vanilluxe is more important than dodging it, and the speed is useful if hail is still up.

Usage Tips

  • While Alolan Sandslash checks the likes of Whismicott and others, it may not be wise to send it in directly versus some of these Pokemon like Vanilluxe, which carry moves that do a lot of damage to Alolan Sandslash, like in the case of Vanilluxe, Hidden Power Ground. • Pursuit Trappers: Pursuit trappers such as Sneasel and Houndoom are great partners for Alolan Sandslash, as they trap the Ghost-types such as Palossand and Rotom, which prevent it from removing hazards with Rapid Spin.
  • Spike Setters: Spike setters like Garbodor and Ferroseed love the presence of Alolan Sandslash, as Rapid Spinners help remove opposing hazards for the time, while also keeping your own hazards up.

Generally, remember Shorter is Sweeter. Good Work, QC 1/3. aka try to cut down the wording when you can, as it helps people find relevant info faster.

There's a slash for Iron Head but no mention at all of Diancie? Seems wasteful not putting an A+ mon as a target to hit especially considering since Icicle Crash does jack. EDIT: also an excellent Comfey check

It also helps with other Pokemon not so weak as well that will be pivoting in and out, like Passimian and Heliolisk. passimian resists stealth rock, so just find another good example of a mon that pivots often
  • Both Stealth Rock and Rapid Spin have their own benefits, but depending on the team, one or the other will but sub-optimal, which is why they are slashed.
  • Toxic is another mandatory move, as it helps Alolan Sandslash versus Pokemon like Slowbro and Incineroar, which normally would come in for free on Alolan Sandslash and its STABs. If your team is able to check such Pokemon effectively, it may be wiser to run Rapid Spin or Stealth Rock over it instead.
  • Next, Icicle Crash is one of the attacking moves of choice, as it hits some of the Pokemon you'll be checking, specifically Grass-types and some Flying-types, such as Whimsicott and Golbat respectively.
  • Finally, Knock Off is the last move because it supports the team, being able to get rid of Leftovers and other items off of some Pokemon that might threaten Alolan Sandslash, such as Passimian, as well as helping other potential teammates as well.
  • Iron Head is a useful option over Knock Off, since it allows Alolan Sandslash to hit the likes of Vanilluxe and Whimsicott, which Alolan Sandslash is good at checking.

Set Details
========

  • Slush Rush is used over Snow Cloak since the Speed is much more valued over evasiveness, since you aren't guaranteed to dodge every attack. The Speed also helps versus the main Pokemon that will be setting hail, Vanilluxe, and it is much more useful to out speed it, and the extra Speed could be valuable versus other Pokemon on your opponent's team.

Usage Tips
========

  • While Alolan Sandslash checks the likes of Whismicott and others, it may not be wise to send it in directly versus some of these Pokemon like Vanilluxe, which carry moves that do a lot of damage to Alolan Sandslash, like in the case of Vanilluxe, Hidden Power Fighting.
  • the point above is fine, but emphasis the mons that slash should be brought in against, and try and make it clear that alolan sandslash can still switch in against vani, just not safely and usually requires prediction
  • Stealth Rocks are not only valuable for Alolan Sandslash's teammates, but they are also valuable for itself. They help chip down some of its checks such as Incineroar and Delphox, both of which take 25% from rocks due to their Fire-typing.
Instead, you could click Knock Off to help chip down or do heavy damage to said Ghost-types.
  • If you decide to run Toxic rather than Iron Head, a good tip is that opposing Slowbro are one of the many resists to Alolan Sandslash's STABs, so getting some residual damage off on these checks, Slowbro included, would be beneficial for it.

Team Options
========

  • Fire-type Resists: Pokemon that resist Fire-type attacks such as Incineroar and Slowking are great for Alolan Sandslash, since Alolan Sandslash is 4x weak to Fire-type moves.
  • Fighting-type Resists: The same can be said about Fighting-type moves, so you'll want resists such as Slowbro and Vileplume to assist Alolan Sandslash's endeavors.
  • Ground-type Resists: Lastly, Alolan Sandslash is weak to Ground-type attacks, so it would be wise to pair it with Pokemon like Whimsicott and Rotom, which act as Ground resists. Torterra is also a great example, as it is a more defensive alternative to Whimsicott, as well as having access to the powerful Wood Hammer.
  • Pursuit Trappers: Pursuit trappers such as Sneasel and Houndoom are great partners for Alolan Sandslash, as they trap the Ghost-types such as Palossand and Rotom, which prevent it from removing hazards with Rapid Spin. mention absol in pursuit trappers, and mention that these pokemon can trap the likes of av king and bro, which are general annoyances for slash
  • Spike Setters: Spike setters like Garbodor and Ferroseed love the presence of Alolan Sandslash, as Rapid Spinners help remove opposing hazards for the time, while also keeping your own hazards up.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Alolan Sandslash can also run a Swords Dance + Slush Rush sweeper set on hail, paired with Pokemon with Snow Warning like Aurorus and Vanilluxe. Sandslash should use Swords Dance on an expected switch, and deal as much damage as possible while hail is active. You should also make sure to keep its HP as high as possible if it intends to set up and sweep. However, this strategy is uncommonly used to due the unreliability Aurorus and Vanilluxe have as consistent Snow Warning users to enable abusers like Alolan Sandslash. This set runs Icicle Crash and Earthquake, as well as filler move such as Iron Head or Rapid Spin. It should also run max attack and max speed, so it is as fast and as powerful as possible, with a Jolly nature.
Checks and Counters
===================

Fire-type Attacks: As aforementioned in the analysis, Fire-types like Incineroar and Houndoom are a massive problem for Alolan Sandslash. This of course can also apply to Pokemon like Guzzlord, which runs Fire Blast, as well as Slowbro and Slowking. mention magmortar here, since there's no mentions of it previously in the analysis

Fighting-type Attacks: Like Fire-type attacks, Alolan Sandslash is also 4x weak to Fighting-type attacks. This is especially important when Passimian is such a prominent Pokemon, being one of the most splashable don't use this in analyses, just say common or centralizing in the tier. Other Pokemon that you should look out for with Fighting-type moves are Sceptile, Heliolisk, Hitmonlee, and especially Hariyama, which is fairly bulky, and Assault Vest sets that run Thick Fat are especially resistant to Icicle Crash.

Other Pokemon also carry Ground-type coverage, such as Passimian and the occasional Sceptile, so Ground-type moves aren't scarce either.

However, this only proves to be an issue to the Rapid Spin set. put this point below steel-types, also mention specifics, like rotom can burn, palo can hit w ep etc

2/3

Okay so hold on, this is a long one.

Knock Off is the last move because it helps supports the team, being able to get rid of Leftovers and other items off of some Pokemon that might threaten Alolan Sandslash, such as Passimian, as well as helping other potential teammates as well.
Knocking off a Passimian doesn't allow you to beat it any better, so the wording is weird because it still very much threatens it even after losinf the scarf. Put more mention that its an amazing support option because it allows you to cripple would be switch ins by removing their item. Notable examples being removing Incineroars berry, removing leftovers from walls like Hariyama and Blastoise, or removing Eviolite from things like Null or Ferroseed. Up to you on what examples you wanna run here but make the focus its ability to cripple would be switch ins.

With this typing, it’s also able to dish back super effective STAB hits from its Ice- and Steel-type moves.
I get what you're trying to say with this because it hits the two mons you listed, but its really random to list in an overview. Remove it and mention its able to check those two and hit back super effectively in useage tips.

All in all, Alolan Sandslash can be a great Stealth Rocker or Rapid Spinner on teams that need it,
Great? Its closer to viable. Try rephrasing to "Alolan Sandslash is a viable option as a Stealth Rocker or Rapid Spinner on teams that need it"

Rapid Spin can also be run to provide possible partners such as Incineroar and Delphox from taking chip from Stealth Rock, which easily whittle them down.
Delphox isn't the best example as iirc its somewhere in B. You can try replacing for meta relevant threats like Vanilluxe, Sneasel, or Braviary instead.

It also helps with other Pokemon not so weak to Stealth Rock as well that will be pivoting in and out, like Heliolisk and Rotom.
I think not having rocks helping mons like these is such a given that it doesn't needed to be stated here.

Icicle Spear is an option over Icicle Crash as it allows Alolan Sandslash to easily deal with Substitute Vivillon and other Substitute users, such as Whimsicott and Decidueye.
Substitute Decidueye isn't a set so it should be dropped here and replace with something like sub BU Braviary or sub SD Sceptile. I'd honestly even consider just dropping the sub Viv part as its not something you're going to see commonly from it either but its up to you.

This is because Icicle Spear is a Multi-Hit move, meaning you can break the sub and then deal some damage to the mentioned Pokemon.
You can just say its multi hit and leave it at that.
"Icicle Spear is an option over Icicle Crash because its multi hitting, allowing Alolan Sandslash to easily deal with Substitute"
would be how I'd phrase it.

Knock Off is the last move because it helps supports the team, being able to get rid of Leftovers and other items off of some Pokemon that might threaten Alolan Sandslash, such as Passimian, as well as helping other potential teammates as well.
Knocking off a Passimian doesn't help it not beat Slash-a. I'd rephrase this entire thing and put more focus on how you're able to cripple mons by getting rid of their items. Its just generically good, you don't need to get fancy with it. Just say it cripples would be switch ins by getting rid of their item and give notable examples such as removing an Incinceroar berry, or removing an Eviolite/ leftovers off X relevant walls.

Iron Head can be run over Knock Off, as it allows Alolan Sandslash to hit the likes of Vanilluxe and Whimsicott, which are already checked efficiently by Sandslash.
But you don't need Steel STAB to hit Whims. Ice STAB hits it just as hard. I'd give a different example here.

and since it is going to be coming in a lot to soak hits and remove hazards, it would be wise to not let it get Knock Off'd by opposing Pokemon.
This doesn't need to be here. If you want to keep it move it to usage tips because its telling you how to play the mon rather then what leftovers does for it.

While Alolan Sandslash should come in on Pokemon like Whimsicott and Comfey, some Pokemon that it checks such as Vanilluxe usually carry an attack that will prohibit Alolan Sandslash from coming in safely.
Comfey runs HP fire now so it shouldn't be listed here.

In the case of Vanilluxe, it uses Hidden Power Fighting
You mean Ground?

such as Incineroar and Delphox, both of which take a quarter of their health from Stealth Rock, since they are Fire-types.
Them being fire types doesn't need to be stated. If they read this and don't know fires take 25% from rocks then there are bigger issues.

If the opponent has a Ghost-type such as Mismagius or Haunter, it may be wise to hold off on clicking Rapid Spin, so to not lose too much momentum, since Ghost-types are immune to Rapid Spin, meaning that the move will essentially fail, and the hazards will not be removed from the field.
Replace Haunter with Rotom. You can also replace Mismagius with Deciedueye or Dhelmise as they're more relevant but its up to you.

And again you don't need to remind the reader how spin blocking works, this isn't an essay you're padding your word count for. Instead maybe mention that Icicle Crash does really relevant damage to things like Rotom and seriously hurts Deciedueye and Dhemise.

Torterra is another great example, as it is a more defensive alternative to Whimsicott, as well as having access to the powerful Wood Hammer.
Why is Woodhammer such a notable thing for Torterra that you'd think about passing up Whimsicott for? If you're going to go to the trouble of specifically listing it then it should be for a reason, not because it just does damage.

Pursuit trappers such as Sneasel and Houndoom are great partners for Alolan Sandslash, as they trap the Ghost-types such as Palossand and Rotom
Pursuit wont remove a Palossand from a match, so try replacing it with more frail Ghost types. Mismagius is an example because the other 2 relevant ghosts in the tier such as Deciedueye and Dhelmise don't safely switch into it like Mismagius does.

They also trap Slowbro and Slowking, which are generally an annoyance for Alolan Sandslash to face.
Trapping Slowbro does nothing thanks to Regen + bulk unless its AV. And even then its not that great I'd honestly just cut this entire point.

Other good Pursuit trappers to pair it with are Absol and Alolan Raticate.
Cut. You already listed Pursuit some very viable Pursuit users. Unless these two offer something that the others don't then there is no point in listing them. Rat-a is also unranked in NU.

Fire-type Attacks: As aforementioned in the analysis, Fire-types like Incineroar and Magmortar are a massive problem for Alolan Sandslash. This of course can also apply to Pokemon like Guzzlord, which runs Fire Blast, as well as Slowbro and Slowking.
Slowbro doesn't always carry Fire Blast so I'd re-word this to "...as well as Slowking and AV Slowbro"

and especially Hariyama, which is fairly bulky, and Assault Vest sets that run Thick Fat are especially resistant to Icicle Crash.
AV isn't the most common set for Hariyama, nor does an AV help Hariyama against Slash-a. I'd just mention it like "and especially Hariyama thanks to Thick Fat allowing it to switch in for free"

Other Pokemon also carry Ground-type coverage, such as Passimian and the occasional Sceptile, so Ground-type moves aren't scarce either. All in all, while only a 2x weakness, Ground-type attacks are certainly something to look out for when using Alolan Sandslash.
Cut the fluff. Just get to the point, its weak to ground types so here are some ground types to watch out for that abuse it. And also seeing as none of the relevant ground types really switch into Icicle Crash that well, and most of the mons that cover Ground coverage like Passimian that you listed having other ways to actually hit it, I don't think this entire point is totally needed unless you can brain storm Ground type mons that can switch into it or mons that carry Ground type coverage that can't already hit it for super effective damage.

Just saying you can't hit steel types is enough and list some relevant examples like the ones you did. Just saying it can't stop Klinklang from setting up and it lets it in for free is good. Saying you don't do relevant damage to lix/vally is fine. You don't need to list all the moves they carry to hit it because it doesn't matter, you can't hit them.

Some Ghost-types can even prove problematic through their moves as well, such as Rotom's Will'O'Wisp, and Palossand's Earth Power. However, these issues only apply to the Rapid Spin set.
Cut the fluff. Just say they spin block and list some relevant examples.

[OVERVIEW]

Alolan Sandslash functions as both a Pokemon that can set up Stealth Rock [RC] and remove entry hazards using Rapid Spin. It also has the ability to check several special attackers such as Whimsicott and Vanilluxe thanks to its Ice and Steel Ice / Steel typing. Also, Alolan Sandslash has a small niche as a sweeper under Hail [RC] thanks to its ability Slush Rush. One thing that makes Alolan Sandslash valuable as a Rapid Spinner spinner is that, [AC] unlike Rapid Spin users like Blastoise, Alolan Sandslash is immune to Toxic Spikes. A problem Sandslash is it is quite ineffective against some of the tier’s top threats, such as Incineroar and Passimian. This is because said they may either [either implies that you're going to follow up with an "or" statement, but the rest of the sentence isn't built in that manner] resist Alolan Sandslash’s STABs STAB moves [RC] as well as being able to dish back 4x effective hits and retaliate with 4x super effective hits such as Flare Blitz and Close Combat. Alolan Sandslash is a viable option as a Stealth Rocker Stealth Rock user or Rapid Spinner spinner on teams that need it [RC] as well as giving and gives the team a good specially defensive soaker. Despite this, it often finds itself in a struggle versus some of the tier’s best Pokemon. [unnecessary info, you state this before]

Moves
========

Stealth Rock is the first move run since because Alolan Sandslash’s main niche is to provide Stealth Rock for the team, inflicting necessary chip for some Pokemon. Rapid Spin can also be run to provide possible partners such as Incineroar and Braviary from taking chip from Stealth Rock, which easily whittles them down. Despite being slashed, both Stealth Rock and Rapid Spin have their own benefits, but depending on the team, one or the other will be sub-optimal, which explains the slash. [unnecessary info, you explain the difference earlier] Icicle Crash is one of the attacking moves of choice, as it hits some of the Pokemon you’ll be checking— [RC] specifically, [AC] Grass-types and some Flying-types, Grass- and Flying-types such as Whimsicott and Golbat. Icicle Spear is an option over Icicle Crash, [AC] as it allows Alolan Sandslash to easily deal with Substitute Vivillon and other Substitute users [RC] such as Vivillon, [AC] Whimsicott, [AC] and Swords Dance Sceptile [RC] as Icicle Spear is a Multi-Hit move with multiple hits. Finally, Knock Off is the last move because it helps supports the team, as it is able to get rid of items from would-be [AH] switch-ins [AH], such as Incineroar's Iapapa Berry, Blastoise and Hariyama's Leftovers, and even Eviolite off of things such as Type: Null and Ferroseed's Eviolite. [parallelism]

Set Details
========

Leftovers is the item of choice to increase Alolan Sandslash's longevity [RC] while also reducing the chip every time it wants to come in to get rid of entry hazards. This also happens to be Alolan Sandslash's only form of recovery. For the nature, Careful is used, along with max HP and max Special Defense. This makes Alolan Sandslash as specially bulky as possible. A Careful nature with maximum HP and Special Defense EVs makes Alolan Sandslash as specially bulky as possible. [combined the two sentences because they lead into each other] 248 HP is EVs are used over 252 HP so that Alolan Sandslash will take less from entry hazards, which it will be coming in on a lot in order to Rapid Spin. Lastly, Slush Rush is used over Snow Cloak since the Speed is much more valued over evasiveness during hail, since you aren't guaranteed to dodge every attack. The Speed boost also helps versus the main Pokemon that will be setting hail, Vanilluxe, and it is much more useful to out speed it Alolan Sandslash outspeed Vanilluxe, a primary hail setter, and the extra Speed could be valuable versus other Pokemon on your opponent's team. [cut down the previous sentence for concision]

Usage Tips
========

Another thing to consider is that not only are is Stealth Rocks valuable for Alolan Sandslash’s teammates, but is are also valuable for Alolan Sandslash itself, as they help Stealth Rock helps chip down some of its Alolan Sandslash's checks such as Incineroar and Braviary. If the opponent has a Ghost-type such as Dhelmise or Rotom, it may be wise to hold off on clicking Rapid Spin, so to not lose too much momentum. Instead, you could click Knock Off to help chip down or do heavy damage to said Ghost-types. If you are running Toxic over Iron Head, it is beneficial if you have partners that can chip down damage [you use "chip down" a lot] some of Alolan Sandslash’s checks— [RC] specifically, [AC] Slowbro and Slowking. Lastly, try not to let Alolan Sandslash come in on Knock Offs, since as keeping Leftovers is pivotal for getting any sort of recovery outside of Wish passing.

Team Options
========

Pokemon that resist Fire-type attacks such as Incineroar and Slowking are incredible partners for Alolan Sandslash, as they cover up one of Sandslash’s crippling weaknesses. The same can be said about Fighting-type attacks, so you should also run Fighting-type resists such as Slowbro and Vileplume to cover this weakness as well [implied when you say "the same can be said"]. Alolan Sandslash’s final weakness is to Ground-type attacks, and while it is not as serious as Fire- and Fighting-type attacks, it’s still something that you should look out for, so it would be wise to pair Alolan Sandslash with Ground-type checks such as Rotom and Whimsicott. Torterra is another great example, as it is a more defensive alternative to Whimsicott [RC] as well as having that has access to the powerful Wood Hammer, as it is—a more powerful attack than Energy Ball. Pursuit trappers such as Sneasel and Houndoom are great partners for Alolan Sandslash, as they trap the Ghost-types such as like [you use "such as" a lot] Mismagius and Rotom [RC] which that prevent it Alolan Sandslash from removing entry hazards with Rapid Spin. Finally, Spike setters Spikers like Garbodor and Ferroseed love the presence of Alolan Sandslash, as Rapid Spinners spinners help remove opposing entry hazards for the time [RC] while also keeping your own hazards up.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Alolan Sandslash can also run a Swords Dance + Slush Rush sweeper set on hail, [implied later when you mention Snow Warning] paired with Pokemon with Snow Warning like Aurorus and Vanilluxe. Alolan Sandslash should use Swords Dance on an expected switch [RC] and deal as much damage as possible while hail is active. You should also make sure to keep its HP as high as possible if it intends to set up and sweep. However, this strategy is uncommonly used to due because of the unreliability Aurorus and Vanilluxe have as consistent Snow Warning users to enable abusers like Alolan Sandslash. This set runs Icicle Crash, [AC] and Earthquake, as well as and a filler move such as Iron Head or Rapid Spin. It should also run max attack and max speed maximum investments in Attack and Speed and a Jolly Nature so that it is as fast and as powerful as possible, with a Jolly nature.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-type Attacks**: As aforementioned in the analysis, Fire-types, [AC] like Incineroar and Magmortar, [AC] and Pokemon with Fire-type coverage moves, like Guzzlord, Slowking, and Assault Vest Slowbro, are a massive problems for Alolan Sandslash. This of course can also apply to Pokemon like Guzzlord, which runs Fire Blast, as well as Slowking and Assault Vest Slowbro.

**Fighting-type Attacks**: Like Fire-type attacks, Alolan Sandslash is also 4x weak to Fighting-type attacks. However, most of these Ground-type Pokemon, [AC] like Torterra and Rhydon , [AC]are weak to Icicle Crash as well, such as Torterra and the aforementioned Rhydon as well, making it difficult for them to switch in constantly.

**Steel-types**: While Steel-types threaten Alolan Sandslash both offensively, they also threaten Alolan Sandslash and defensively. For example, Silvally-Steel comes in for free on pretty much all of Alolan Sandslash's moves, being resistant to resists Rapid Spin, Iron Head, and Icicle Crash, is also immune to Toxic, and can quickly get rid of Stealth Rocks with Defog. Silvally-Steel, like the other Steel-types, have has a coverage move to hit Alolan Sandslash with. Another example is Klinklang, which comes in and sets up on Alolan Sandslash freely. Overall, Steel-types can be a pain for Alolan Sandslash to deal with, and they should be looked out for when team building teambuilding and playing should be looked out for.

**Ghost-types**: As Ghost-types are spin blockers spinblockers, they quickly become a problem for Alolan Sandslash with Rapid Spin. Examples of said Ghost-types include Rotom, Mismagius, Dhelmise, and Decidueye.

Leftovers is the item of choice to increase Alolan Sandslash's longevity while also reducing the chip every time it wants to come in to get rid of entry hazards. This also happens to be Alolan Sandslash's only form of recovery. A Careful nature with maximum HP and Special Defense EVs makes Alolan Sandslash as specially bulky as possible. 248 HP EVs are used so that Alolan Sandslash will take less from entry hazards, which it will be coming in on a lot in order to Rapid Spin. (max HP is 354 which is not divisible by 8, so no need) Lastly, Slush Rush is used over Snow Cloak, (AC) since the Speed is much more valued over evasiveness during hail, since you aren't guaranteed to dodge every attack. The Speed boost also helps helping Alolan Sandslash outspeed Vanilluxe, a primary hail setter, and other Pokemon on your opponent's team.

Usage Tips
========

Another thing to consider is that not only is Stealth Rock is not only valuable for Alolan Sandslash’s Sandslash's teammates (RC) but is also valuable for Alolan Sandslash itself, as Stealth Rock it helps chip down some of Alolan Sandslash's checks such as Incineroar and Braviary. If the opponent has a Ghost-type such as Dhelmise or Rotom, it may be wise to hold off on clicking Rapid Spin so (delete this too) to not lose too much momentum. Instead, you could click Knock Off to help chip down or do heavy damage to said Ghost-types. If you are running Toxic over Iron Head, it is beneficial if you have partners that can damage some of Alolan Sandslash’s Sandslash's checks specifically, Slowbro and Slowking. Lastly, try not to let Alolan Sandslash come in on Knock Offs Off, as keeping Leftovers is pivotal for getting any sort of recovery outside of Wish passing.

Team Options

Pokemon that resist Fire-type attacks such as Incineroar and Slowking are incredible partners for Alolan Sandslash, as they cover up one of Sandslash’s its crippling weaknesses. The same can be said about Fighting-type attacks, so For the same reason, you should also run Fighting-type resists switch-ins (or any word but resist) such as Slowbro and Vileplume. Alolan Sandslash’s Sandslash's final weakness is to Ground-type attacks, and while it is not as serious as Fire- and Fighting-type attacks, it would be wise to pair Alolan Sandslash with Ground-type checks such as Rotom and Whimsicott. Torterra is another great example, as it is a more defensive alternative to Whimsicott that has access to the powerful Wood Hammer, (AC) a more powerful attack than Energy Ball. Pursuit trappers such as Sneasel and Houndoom are great partners for Alolan Sandslash, as they trap Ghost-types like Mismagius and Rotom that prevent Alolan Sandslash from removing entry hazards with Rapid Spin. Finally, Spikers like Garbodor and Ferroseed love the presence of Alolan Sandslash, as spinners help remove opposing entry hazards for the time while also keeping your own hazards up.

Alolan Sandslash can also run a Swords Dance + Slush Rush sweeper set paired with Pokemon with Snow Warning like Aurorus and Vanilluxe. Alolan Sandslash should use Swords Dance on an expected switch and deal as much damage as possible while hail is active. You should also make sure to keep its HP as high as possible if it intends to set up and sweep. However, this strategy is uncommonly used because of (due to would've been fine here too ftr) the unreliability Aurorus and Vanilluxe have as consistent Snow Warning users. This set runs Icicle Crash, Earthquake, and a filler move such as Iron Head or Rapid Spin. It should also run maximum investments in Attack and Speed and a Jolly nature so that it is as fast and as powerful as possible.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-type Attacks**: Fire-types (RC) like Incineroar and Magmortar (RC) and Pokemon with Fire-type coverage moves (RC) like Guzzlord, Slowking, and Assault Vest Slowbro (RC) are massive problems for Alolan Sandslash.

**Fighting-type Attacks**: Like with Fire-type attacks, Alolan Sandslash is also 4x weak to Fighting-type attacks. This is especially important detrimental because Passimian is such a prominent Pokemon in the tier. Other Pokemon that you should look out for with Fighting-type moves are Sceptile, Heliolisk, Hitmonlee, and especially Hariyama due to its ability Thick Fat (RC) allowing it to switch in with ease.

**Ground-type Attacks**: While Ground-type attacks aren't as threatening as Fire-type and Fighting-type attacks, as Ground is merely a 2x weakness. However, you should still watch out for Pokemon like Steelix and Rhydon. However, most of these Ground-type Pokemon, like Torterra and Rhydon, are weak to Icicle Crash, making it difficult for them to switch in constantly.

**Steel-types**: Steel-types threaten Alolan Sandslash both offensively and defensively. For example, Silvally-Steel comes in for free on pretty much all of Alolan Sandslash's moves, resists Rapid Spin, Iron Head, and Icicle Crash, is also immune to Toxic, and can quickly get rid of Stealth Rock with Defog. Silvally-Steel, Like the other Steel-types, Silvally-Steel also has a coverage move (which one?) to hit Alolan Sandslash with. Another example is Klinklang, which comes in and sets up on Alolan Sandslash freely. Overall, Steel-types can be a pain for Alolan Sandslash to deal with, and they should be looked out for when teambuilding.

**Ghost-types**: As Ghost-types are spinblockers can block Alolan Sandslash's Rapid Spin, they quickly become a problem for Alolan Sandslash with Rapid Spin it. (flow) Examples of said Ghost-types include Rotom, Mismagius, Dhelmise, and Decidueye. (2 of which are weak to Icicle Crash though)

This is because they may resist Alolan Sandslash’s Sandslash's STAB moves and retaliate with 4x super effective hits such as Flare Blitz and Close Combat. Nevertheless, Alolan Sandslash is a viable option as a Stealth Rock user or spinner on teams that need it and gives the team a good specially defensive soaker tank.

Alolan Sandslash's main niche is to provide Stealth Rock for the team, inflicting necessary chip for some Pokemon. Rapid Spin can also be run used to provide prevent possible partners such as Incineroar and Braviary from taking chip from Stealth Rock, which easily whittles them down. Toxic allows Alolan Sandslash to slowly whittle down some of its counters such as Slowbro and Slowking. Icicle Crash is one of the attacking moves of choice, as it hits some of the Pokemon Alolan Sandslash will be checking, specifically Grass- and Flying-types such as Whimsicott and Golbat. Icicle Spear is an option over Icicle Crash, as it allows Alolan Sandslash to easily deal with Substitute users such as Vivillon, Whimsicott, and Swords Dance Sceptile with multiple hits. Finally, Knock Off is the last move because it is able to get rid of items from would-be switch-ins, such as Incineroar's Iapapa Berry, Blastoise and Hariyama's Leftovers, and even Type: Null and Ferroseed's Eviolite. Iron Head can be used over Knock Off to better check Pokemon such as Comfey and Vanilluxe.
