Robert Alfons: regen cores are the hitler of mons

Greetings Smogon! I'm Don Honchkrorleone, or Don or Leandro for the close friends, and here am I bringing you another team. For the last 2 months I've been focusing on RU more than the other tiers, and you that are reading should too! It's so funny unless you're facing stall! And after Torn got the deserved boot out of RU, and also Venomoth got killed by the Third Reich, the tier is incredibely balanced and sweet right now. This is somewhat offense + two pivots that started when I questioned the viability of offensive Liepard, which works well but ehh not much as time passes. The rest of the team was amazing though, so I decided to check how far I could go. I really like this team and is my most successful XY team so far, but it has lots of flaws, which I hope that I'll fix them with your help :]

Also despite the name pretty much everything here is somewhat stadard except for the MVP of this team. I just wanted to post a bikini John Cleese without being banned from forums.

[23:21:53] +ShootingStarmie: You should know I am a girl. Everyone knows I'm a girl. I am a girl. I would post pics, but I don't want to get banned for porn. Please stop lying. Once again, we all know I am a girl. If you can't accept that I am a girl, you should go to bed. Not only am I fabulous, I am the GLORIOUS master race.

I started with physically offensive Prankster Liepard, a set that most of times can catch people off guard. Then, as its first partner, Molk told me that a good would be SD Cobalion or CB Escavalier since Liepard helps them sweeping. I picked the iron goat.

So with two physical attackers, of course a good special Pokemon would be needed, especially since Alomomola is a plague. I picked mah nigga Tangrowth because my team was kinda frail.

With Tangrowth added a few weaknesses started to pop out. The first and obvious one was Fighting, because I'm weak to Fighting even if I run monoghost. I also lacked Stealth Rocks since I wasn't planning to use it on Cobalion. Gligar was the first Pokemon that came to mind.

Even with Gligar, I felt that te team was still Fighting weak. There was also a notable Fire-ype weakness, including notable Fire-type Pokemon like Delphox and Moltres. Slowking came to resolve those problems.

The last and final problem was with Flying-types, ince my team doesn't take most of them too well. In need of something to check them, I added LO Heliolisk. Helio also had the bonus of checking Rhyperior to me (as if my team already didn't do that a lot).

So I tested the team and noticed some flaws. Notably, it was raped by Virizion, Sceptile and Amoonguss, and demolished by Fite. Heliolisk wasn't doing its job properly so he was the one to be replaced. Desperate against the gay deer, I ended up using Fletchinder, which was also another nice priority to have and made a FWG core with Slowking and Tangrowth.

As the games happened I noticed something. That Liepard set, while good, was not THAT good. It was weak and most of times it didn't work as I expected it to. I swapped it to Zoroark just to see what happened.

And I liked the dark fox on this team surprisingly. It worked on how Liepard should. Time to proceed to RMT :)

THE TEAM:

~The Supporter

Knock Off Me! (Gligar) (F) @ Eviolite
Ability: Immunity
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spd
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Roost
- Earthquake
- Acrobatics

Gligar fills three roles on this team. The first is to provide me a resistance to Fighting because I'm always weak to Fighting. The resistances to Bug, Poison and immunity to Electric and Ground coupled with its massive physical bulk are nice too for checking things like Escavalier, Ice Punch-less Rhyperior, Drapion and etc are, but resisting to Fighting is more important. Secondly, it stops a lot of physical threats that either demolish my team or are a dick to fight against such as non SubBU Braviary, Hitmonlee, Ice Punch-less Medicham, Hitmontop, Cobalion, Doublade, Skuntank, Dugtrio and so on. The third and final role is simply Stealth Rock, keeping at check Moltres, Yanmega, Delphox and other Pokemon weak to the omnipresent hazard, not to mention chipping damage away and potentially breaking Sashes is always nice. Movepool-wise it's standard, except for Acrobatics. While horribly situational, Acro has proved useful to me since they ALWAYS Knock Off Gligar. And another strong Flying-type move is welcome to this team. Acro was added recently since I used Knock Off before. I know what you're questioning "why don't you use fucking Defog?" While I admit that hazards are somewhat problematic (mainly Toxic Spikes. Stealth Rock is just harmful to Fletchinder in general), I don't want to use it because A) Gligar has no room for it since I hate mono coverage and B) Immunity is amazing on BatScorp, making it able to beat shit like Bronzong and Registeel 1-on-1. And I don't intend to use Defog unless a nice argument (other than lelz u have Bird without hazard control lel hue br br br) can change my heart. The temptation is strong, though :/

~The Sweeper and Robert Alfons' Violator

Goatse (Cobalion) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Iron Head
- Magnet Rise

Grumpy goat, why are you so good? Amazing Speed, type and bulk with above average attack stats make Cobalion a force to be feared. Originally he was Liepard's partner in crime, but even with the cat's death the goat keeps shining. Cobalion is my win condition most of times, and though not my MVP, he comes close to it. Swords Dance doubles attack, CC is a strong and dumb STAB, Iron Head is the other STAB that deals with Aromatisse mainly but also some Poison- and Ghost-types while also saving the goat with the occasional flinch. I picked Magnet Rise as the last option because fuck Gligar, Drapion and Rhyperior. It also trolls Reversal-less Dugtrio badly. Lum Berry is for the random burn/paralyze/sleep/freeze disappear and let Cobalion sweep freely. Also, Cobalion is Robert Alfons' favorite Pokemon. Ask him what happens whenever he faced me and what Cobalion did :]

~The Thing That Replaced Liepard. Also The Mindgamer

Not Zoroark (Zoroark) (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Illusion
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Pursuit
- Grass Knot

So on this spot was the one that used to be Liepard. It was a cool set that nabbed me wins with its surprise. I'll enter in more details on the past members section. For some reason, I replaced Liepard with Zoroark and frankly, while I do like it, I feel the black fox is the most replaceable member of this team. But Zoroark is not useless since the black fox has the power and speed to do what it's supposed to! His main goal here is to trap Psychic- and Ghost-types for some reason, maybe because I really hate them, with the never-expected Pursuit, and also to say lel u got Zoroark'd. Knock Off and Sucker Punch are important cuz support (aka fuck Eviolite) and priority, with the latter being really the only reason I use Zoroark over Drapion as I think the Poison-type of the Ogre Scorpion would help my team. Grass Knot is cool for lead matchups against Rhyperior and also deals with Alomomola, not much else though. Ironically, I still prefer GK over Flamethrower, at least on this team. GK is also the reason I don't use BlackGlasses / Dread Plate or else it'd be useless. As I said, Zoroark is possibly the most replaceable, but so far it works like I planned Liepard to.

~The Revenge Killer and Gotta Go Faster

Stop Being Weak (Fletchinder) (M) @
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 216 HP / 252 Atk / 40 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Acrobatics
- Will-O-Wisp
- Roost

So, Fletchinder, the little Talonflame... I desperately need you despite not needing at the same. The bird is the first part of my FWG core and lets me check Yanmega, Vivillon, Virizion, Sceptile, Fighting-types in general, Escavalier and more, not to mention weakened stuff. Yet it's so one-dimensonal and predictable. The set is pretty straightforward so no reason to go deep on each move (also it's 1 am and I'm sleepy lol). Swords Dance (sometimes) lets Fletcinder boost Acrobatics' power to high levels and KOing a lot of stuff. WoW is for the switch-ins to Rhyperior, walls and Electric-types. Roost lets the fiery robin breathe a bit more on its life. The EVs? Idk. Molk uses it and peaked on ladder so I guess they work. As much as Fletchinder may seem weak and hindering, it plays an important role on my team that maybe no other Pokemon can. Screw SR, though :L

~The Fire Brigadier

Alphonse (Slowking) (M) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SAtk / 8 Spd
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Psyshock
- Fire Blast
- Signal Beam

We got into that part!

"Robert Alfons: regen cores are the hitler of mons"

This is my pivot #1, and a damn good one. Even though with new threats such as Sharpedo and Yanmega, Slowking still continues to be amazing in RU. The genius pink thing found on the new item Assault Vest a new role, as to check powerful RU special attackers named Delphox and Moltres, but it's no slouch on physical defense either, being my thied Fighting check (I'm just paranoid about Fighting-types...). Scald is for the STAB and hax, Psyshock is for Amoonguss and fighting-types, and Fire Blast is for Escavalier and Grass-types. The last move... uhhh... to tell the truth I never use the last move. I could simply use three moves on Slowking, since I only use those three. I had many tests with a fourth attack, being Dragon Tail, Foul Play, Grass Knot, Focus Blast and Signal Beam. Dragon Tail fucking sucks. Seriously, there was no fucking situation I found that dumb move to be useful. It's just too weak and makes Slowking take a fuckton of Foul Play damage, not worth it. Speakng on the devil, Foul Play is... ehhhh meh. Grass Knot was the most useful one, but in most situations is kinda redundant since Tangrowth can take out the things Grass Knot should, but I might add GK back. Focus Blast misses every fucking time. I'm currently using Signal Beam because in one match it made a guy rage quit after he switched his poor Shiftry into the genius water thing. Signal Beam is also nice for Sharpedo switch-ins, and for opposite Slowkings too, not to mention the nice confusion hax chance. But again, I might add GK back. I know the EVs are not standard but it's working so far. And obviously, the speed creep against the mushroom and opposite Slowkings.

~The Troll Surprise Motherfucker Nuke

No Unburden pls (Tangrowth) (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 128 HP / 252 SAtk / 128 Spd
Modest Nature
IVs: 2 Atk / 30 SAtk / 30 Spd
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Sludge Bomb
- Giga Drain

So, before introducing my MVP, let me tell you a story. Once upon a time, a random, whose name I won't mention but you, my dear reader, probably know who it is, and his waifu, Tangrowhtette. The random was a bitter, grouchy, top ladder-dwelling creature with a skill "two sizes too small" who lived on strange Mt. Ovrzed, a steep high mountain just north of Specialattackville, home of the merry and powerful Special Attackers. "Tangrowth is such a boss, right?" the random kept mumbling "I mean, it's a giant tentacle ogre! It's making me use Harden!" he thought "But his Special Defense sucks. If there was a way to fix it, it'd be a top tier threat." So the random was seeing gifts to his waifu when he saw that on a distant land called Kalos, there was a special kind of Vest designed for taking Assaults. "This Vest, is not any Vest, it's Assault Vest!" gleefully said the random, "with this on my waifu Tangrowthette there will be nothing to separate us!" So with the wedding veil, the random and his waifu were preparing to their wedding night. But, unfortunately for the random and his wife, the ephitalamiums were singing joyfully while using the weakest of the special attacks. The Vest was not working at all! "They're killing with Ice Beams." thought the random "They're killing with Shadow Balls! They're killing with Fire Blasts, Draco Meteors, Sludge Bombs!" He puzzles for a moment until it dawns upon him that perhaps the Vest was not good on his waifu. "Maybe specially defensive" he thought "means a little bit more". So his shrunken skills grew three times larger, and stopped bringing his waifu to the battles, since he learned that having Assault Vest doesn't make any Pokemon specially defensive.

That's Dr.SOUss' tale of How the Random Stole Special Attacks but it also applies to RU. "Wait a sec, are you implying that the almighty special wall AV Tangrowth sucks?" OF COURSE Not really but let's be honest, why the flying f*ck would you use AV Tangrowth? "I need a Water resist!" Well, there is something called Amoonguss who is stupudly bulky with only Black Sludge. "Hurr but Amoonguss doesn't hit hard!" So a Water resist with good Special Defense that hits hard? Simply use Virizion. That (BAN ME PLEASE) is so bulky that even you use the standard 252 Atk / 252 Spe it still can take out the majority of the Water-types easily. "But they're weak to Psychic, and they don't have Knock Off ye fgt!" The solution for this is called Escavalier. Besides, almost every team carries one or two Knock Off user just because the move is great! "But... but..." Yeah, AV Tangrowth is not worth it as the premier special attackers in RU destroy the pile of vines anyway. If you want to go defensive with this thing, just go physically defensive, as it never dies to any physical move. Just don't use AV. It hurts when I see AV Tangrowth, so much wasted potential :c IT DOESN' EVEN LEARN POWER-UP PUNCH!!!

However, I shouldn't be mad at AV Tangrowth, since without it I'd never make this set my MVP. 90% of the time people think this Tangrowth is Assault Vest (and some call me a noob for not using AV :/ ) and switches into something that either gets SLAUGHTERED or hurt by the immense power of Specs Tangrowth. Remember, it has 110 Special Attack! My love story with this thing dates back on an old team where a random (BAN ME PLEASE) named Kushalos suggested it. I liked it and decided to use it again on this team, and Tangrowth is much better here! The pile of vines is my special nuke and kind of Stall Breaker. Leaf Storm is fucking powerful even though Grass is resisted by a lot of common stuff. It most of times creates immense holes on the opponent's team but it misses too much tbh :/ Hidden Power Fire is for Escavalier mainly, but also good against other Bug- and Steel-types switch-in. It's also the onlt thing Tangrowth has todeal with Amoonguss (252+ SpA Choice Specs Tangrowth Hidden Power Fire vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Amoonguss: 160-190 (37 - 43.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery SUCK IT AV TANGROWTH FANBOYSS SUCK IT HARD!) Sludge Bomb is for opposite Grass-types like Virizion and Tangrowaifu, and also hits Fire-types hard on switch-in, not to mention Aromatisse and the nifty 30% poisoning chance. For last slot, Giga Drain is chosen because Tangrowth has no other options really. Focus Blast is horrible despite good coverage, and AncientPower is too weak. I use Giga Drain for an alternate STAB attack that doesn't lower Tangrowth's HP and also heals it, not making the need for Regenerator every time. The EVs are for outspeeding min Speed base 65 and the rest is on HP makes Tangrowth still remarkably bulky (252+ Atk Life Orb Reckless Hitmonlee High Jump Kick vs. 128 HP / 0 Def Tangrowth: 285-335 (76.4 - 89.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO - a POSSIBLE OHKO after Rocks). Tangrowth is my MVP, and he is not leaving this team anytime soon.

Liepard @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Play Rough / Encore / Pursuit
- Thunder Wave / Encore

One day I explain why, but for looking at the set should be quite obvious my plan with Liepard.

Heliolisk @ Life Orb
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
IVs: 0 Atk
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Grass Knot
- Surf

FITE

Cresselia- Cresselia... I hate Cresselia so much... That fucking stupid thing that never fucking dies... If opponent has Cress, I think if I should forfeit or not. If I see Cress with stall, I just forfeit. Especially the stupid SubCM and the Defensive wth Toxic, I fucking hate that shit. SO. FUCKING. MUCH.

SubBU Braviary and other Sub Boosting Sweepers- SubBU Braviary is also another (BAN ME PLEASE), and of all boosting sweepers, it's the most alarming one since if +2 I can do NOTHING back but be swept. my only hope is if no sub, Fletchinder can burn it. I put Braviary on the top of other boosting sweepers such as Gallade and co because I see them seldomlyy, and when I do I somehow beat them, but with not easy but not as hard as against the pot belly murica bird time. It's also worth noticing that my weakness against Substitute Boosters was not as big when Liepard was on the team cuz Encore.

Mixed Sharpedo with Aqua Jet - Only this kind of people use it. If Sharpedo lacks Aqua Jet, then Fletch and sometimes Zoroark can beat it. If Sharpedo lacks Ice Beam or is purely physical then Tangrowth and Cobalion can check it. Mixed with Aqua Jet is a stupid threat. Cobalion is my only answer but even then it is dented hard by Hydro Pump. I just don't put it higher because I never faced one, so it's all theorymon, but Sharpedo is broken imo, perhaps more than Druddigon.
Eelektross and Scarf Magneton - I don't see them often but they're a pain to bring down. Eelektross is kinda like Cresselia but less durable. It is manageable, thoug it's hard. Scarf Magneton on the other hand troubles my team with its great typing and constant Volt Switch. My best bet is ironically Slowking since ALL of them always go with Flash Cannon because of Gligar.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So this was my team. I hope all of you enjoyed it an want to try out. I'll happily consider any rate you give unless you suggest AV Tangrowth! Special shoutouts for Molk and Kushalos for helping me with this team, Robert Alfons and Deej Dy for helping me test on the ladder (especially the latter, to show me how much I hate Cresselia + Stall) and ShootingStarmie who is not only fabulous, he is also a female and is part of the GLORIOUS master race. Leave a like if you loved it or hated it :)

So it was you who was stalking my battles >:[

Team looks solid, I bet Specs Tang leaves people surprised as fuck
Only thing I can see is maybe replacing Signal Beam on Slowking for Dragon Tail as you're quite weak to setup. But then again Nasty Plot is almost unexistant and King loses to most neutral +1 attacks. :I

Also +1 for using Firebird

He literally said in the paragraph on Slowking that he tried Dragon Tail and hated it. I personally have been using the team, and Signal Beam is useful for hitting things like other Slowking, Zoroark, and Shiftry. It also helps for beating the hitler of 'mons (regenerator cores aka Slowking + Tangrowth).

As for the team, I tested SR on Cobalion and Defog on Gligar, and it works wonders. Fletchinder desperately needed hazard support, so having Defog makes the team work that much better. Overall great team man :)!

:] But as Jaiho said below, I dislike Dragon Tail. And it always misses :/

Yeah, Molk told me it and I'll test. I know I'll miss immunity but f it's for bird to live then so be it!
