Talonflame is one of the most infamous priority users in OU thanks to its powerful ability, Gale Wings, which gives priority to all of its Flying-type moves, most notable Brave Bird. This set is a very popular set that strays from the once-popular Choice Band set and takes the role of a stallbreaker. This set is often found on Stall itself because of how well-equipped it is to take on Mega Sableye, a huge pain for Stall teams. Talonflame's typing gives it a natural immunity to Will-O-Wisp from Mega Sableye who also fails to do much to Talonflame with Dark Pulse. Swords Dance increases an uninvested Brave Bird's power from simply mediocre to very formidable. Taunt works well to stallbreak effectively and neuter practically all Stall Pokémon to ease setting up with Swords Dance. Roost gives Talonflame longevity and easily heals off Stealth Rock damage that plagues Talonflame, and also receives priority. From there, Brave Bird is the move to use. This set is quite simple to use, simply Swords Dance when necessary and launch off powerful, priority Brave Bird!
This Talonflame set is not invincible, however. Because Talonflame's only attacking move is Flying, it can be quite easily forced out by common Pokémon including Skarmory, Heatran, Rotom-W, Mega Manectric, Slowbro, Mega Metagross, and more. Brave Bird also comes with a nasty recoil, cutting into Talonflame's bulk. Furthermore, Talonflame's bulk isn't exactly fantastic and it has glaring Electric, Rock, and Water weaknesses. Talonflame is also in constant fear of Stealth Rock, which forces it to use Roost and effectively gives the opponent free turns. Nonetheless, Talonflame is an extremely dominant Pokémon in the OU metagame and its priority is useful on most team archetypes.
