Go, Speed Cloyster, Go! (vs Agammemnon)

I've been messing around on PO with a team of my own creation for a while, hoping to have a good fight, and today I finally got one that I think is decent enough for a warstory, despite a misplay or two. This is my first warstory, so I'm sorry if it isn't very quality writing/playing, but...meh.

My team, as of this fight:

Agammemnon's team (teams were shown before the fight):

Battle between AzureAngelic and Agammemnon started!

Tier: Wifi
Variation: +16, -15
Rule: Rated
Rule: Sleep Clause
Rule: Species Clause
Rule: Wifi Battle

Agammemnon sent out Nemesis! (Deoxys-S)
AzureAngelic sent out Zoroark! [disguised as Garchomp]
The foe's Nemesis is exerting its Pressure!

(100%) vs
(100%)

Normally, I would send out my Azelf to start with, but with Deoxys-S, why bother? I'm expecting a taunt shutdown if I try to set up, and my Azelf runs Psychic/Flamethrower. I go with Zoroark disguised as Garchomp, hoping to smash this bug before it realizes what's happening.

Start of turn 1
The foe's Nemesis used Stealth Rock!
Pointed stones float in the air around AzureAngelic's team!

Zoroark used Dark Pulse!
It's super effective!
The foe's Nemesis lost 100% of its health!
The foe's Nemesis fainted!
Zoroark is hurt by its Life Orb!

Boom, headshot. He got Stealth Rock up, but I've wiped Deoxys off the face of the planet. Now that Zoroark is revealed, it's pretty obvious what he's switching to: a Fighting type.

Agammemnon sent out LOVE ME NOW! (Roobushin)

6-5 AzureAngelic

(90%) vs
(100%)

If there's one thing I take pride in, it's my movesets. Most smart people would switch to Tentacruel, but I'm not a smart person. Instead, I gave my Zoroark a little surprise to deal with fighting types. Besides, I want Tentacruel somewhat healthy in case his landshark gets loose.

Start of turn 2
Zoroark used Extrasensory!
It's super effective!
The foe's LOVE ME NOW lost 75% of its health!
Zoroark is hurt by its Life Orb!

The foe's LOVE ME NOW used Drain Punch!
It's super effective!
Zoroark lost 209 HP! (80% of its health)
Zoroark had its energy drained!
Zoroark fainted!

The foe's LOVE ME NOW restored a little HP using its Leftovers!

Fuck yeah, random Extrasensories! 75% is a very good hit, but it's somewhat mitigated by Drain Punch and Leftovers. Zoroark bites the dust, but considering he's already killed one and weakened another, it's safe to say he's done his duty.

AzureAngelic sent out Tentacruel!
Pointed stones dug into Tentacruel!

5-5 Tie
(87%) vs
(~60%)

Tentacruel was originally put on this team to deal with Fighting-types. He's running Toxic Spikes, Boil Over, Ice Beam and Evil Eye. I highly doubt this fatass is going to stay in, so I go for a free Toxic Spikes.

Start of turn 3
Agammemnon called LOVE ME NOW back!
Agammemnon sent out Jumpluff! (Burungeru)

Tentacruel used Toxic Spikes!
Poison spikes were scattered all around the feet of Agammemnon's team!

Tentacruel restored a little HP using its Leftovers!

Well, shit. Even though I have Evil Eye, Dark Pulse Heatran and (dead) Dark Pulse Zoroark, I hate dealing with these goddamn Pringles things. Evil Eye is really the best bet I have here; I don't want to switch out Tentacruel, because nothing else can really get in safely.

(93%) vs
(100%)

Here goes nothing.

Start of turn 4
Tentacruel used Evil Eye!
It's super effective!
The foe's Jumpluff lost 23% of its health!

The foe's Jumpluff used Will-O-Wisp!
Tentacruel was burned!

Tentacruel restored a little HP using its Leftovers!
Tentacruel is hurt by its burn!
The foe's Jumpluff restored a little HP using its Leftovers

(91%) vs
(83%)

And fuck. 23% isn't going to kill this thing, especially with Recovering and Leftovers. Tentacruel doesn't mind the burn too much, although losing Leftovers is a bitch. Considering we're stuck here, I decide to go to Azelf and get some rocks up. Azelf has a sash, but the rocks on my side of the field are ruining it. With any luck, he'll be able to take a Hydro Pump.

Start of turn 5
AzureAngelic called Tentacruel back!
AzureAngelic sent out Azelf!
Pointed stones dug into Azelf!

The foe's Jumpluff used Shadow Ball!
It's super effective!
Azelf lost 224 HP! (76% of its health)

The foe's Jumpluff restored a little HP using its Leftovers!

(10%) vs
(90%)

FUCK. I don't know if that was balls-crazy prediction or sheer luck. Azelf managed to live, though, so I guess he'll have to die for the good of the Stealth Rocks.

Start of turn 6
Azelf used Stealth Rock!
Pointed stones float in the air around Agammemnon's team!

The foe's Jumpluff used Shadow Ball!
It's super effective!
Azelf lost 32 HP! (10% of its health)
Azelf fainted!

The foe's Jumpluff restored a little HP using its Leftovers!

I got rocks up, which is good, but now I'm stuck. Tentacruel can't do shit, Heatran is at an obvious disadvantage, Garchomp can't risk the burn, and Cloyster has no chance of killing it before it kills him. I decide to take the plunge, and do what any sensible person would not do:

AzureAngelic sent out Heatran!
Pointed stones dug into Heatran!

Heatran is floating on a balloon!

5-4 Agammemnon
(87%) vs
(96%)

Yes, I'm entirely aware at how ridiculous this is, but my Heatran is a special variant running Lava Plume, Earth Power, Dragon Pulse and Dark Pulse. I'm going to do as much damage as I can with Dark Pulse, and pray to god this thing isn't as bulky as I think it is.

Start of turn 7
Heatran used Dark Pulse!
It's super effective!
The foe's Jumpluff lost 34% of its health!

The foe's Jumpluff used Hydro Pump!
It's super effective!
Heatran lost 246 HP! (75% of its health)
Heatran's Balloon popped!

The foe's Jumpluff restored a little HP using its Leftovers!

(12%) vs
(68%)

34% are you fucking shitting my oh my god somebody save me now

Right. I have successfully dug myself into a giant hole. Heatran can either die, or run with 12% hp and die to stealth rock later. I guess this is going to have to come down to squiddy wall vs octo-wall, and I don't want to give this thing any more Leftovers recovery.

Start of turn 8
AzureAngelic called Heatran back!
AzureAngelic sent out Tentacruel!
Pointed stones dug into Tentacruel!

The foe's Jumpluff used Shadow Ball!
Tentacruel lost 66 HP! (18% of its health)

Tentacruel restored a little HP using its Leftovers!
Tentacruel is hurt by its burn!
The foe's Jumpluff restored a little HP using its Leftovers!

(41%) vs
(83%)

Honestly, I'm not sure what to do. Evil Eye isn't helping, so I decide to try and burn it with Boil Over.

And thus, I cement my status as a gigantic idiot.

Start of turn 9
Tentacruel used Boil Over!
The foe's Jumpluff's Water Absorb absorbs the attack!

The foe's Jumpluff used Shadow Ball!
Tentacruel lost 67 HP! (18% of its health)

Tentacruel restored a little HP using its Leftovers!
Tentacruel is hurt by its burn!
The foe's Jumpluff restored a little HP using its Leftovers!

AzureAngelic: ffffuck
AzureAngelic: i totally forgot
Agammemnon: About water absorb ?
AzureAngelic: yeah
AzureAngelic: :c

(21%) vs
(100%)

Yes, I forgot about Water Absorb. Fuck it, Tenta's doomed. I'll just Evil Eye to try and do something.

Start of turn 10
Tentacruel used Evil Eye!
It's super effective!
The foe's Jumpluff lost 23% of its health!

The foe's Jumpluff used Shadow Ball!
Tentacruel lost 66 HP! (18% of its health)
Tentacruel's Sp. Def. fell!

Tentacruel restored a little HP using its Leftovers!
Tentacruel is hurt by its burn!
The foe's Jumpluff restored a little HP using its Leftovers!

(1%) vs
(77%)

Wait, what?

Agammemnon: 1%
Agammemnon: fffuuu :p
AzureAngelic: 5 hp
AzureAngelic:

Somehow, Tentacruel lives. It doesn't matter, though, Burungeru is healthy and the burn'll kill me next turn. Might as well hit it again.

It also hits me that I haven't tried Ice Beam. Sure, why not?

Start of turn 11
Agammemnon called Jumpluff back!
Agammemnon sent out Nattorei!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Nattorei!

Tentacruel used Ice Beam!
The foe's Nattorei lost 10% of its health!

Tentacruel restored a little HP using its Leftovers!
Tentacruel is hurt by its burn!
Tentacruel fainted!
The foe's Nattorei restored a little HP using its Leftovers!
AzureAngelic sent out Heatran!
Pointed stones dug into Heatran!
Heatran fainted!

He uses the moment to switch to...Nattorei? The one Pokemon my team is equipped to easily destroy? Really?

Of course, Tenta dies, and Heatran goes down to those bloody rocks. I swear to God, I'm switching Evil Eye out for Rapid Spin when this is over.

Anyway. Nattorei being out is absolutely perfect: I now have the ability to bring in Garchomp and wreck some shit!

AzureAngelic sent out Garchomp!
Pointed stones dug into Garchomp!

5-2 Agammemnon

(94%) vs
(94%)

Most people see Nattorei as being the perfect counter to Garchomp.

Start of turn 12
Garchomp used Swords Dance!
Garchomp's Attack sharply rose!

The foe's Nattorei used Leech Seed!
Garchomp was seeded!

Garchomp's health is sapped by leech seed.

(88%) vs
(98%)

Most people do not run Fire Fang.

Start of turn 13
Garchomp used Fire Fang!
It's super effective!
The foe's Nattorei lost 100% of its health!
The foe's Nattorei's Iron Barbs hurts Garchomp
The foe's Nattorei fainted!

Agammemnon sent out LOVE ME NOW! (Roobushin)
Pointed stones dug into the foe's LOVE ME NOW!
The foe's LOVE ME NOW was poisoned!

Agammemnon: Holy shit ahah
AzureAngelic: i run random fire attacks on everything <3
AzureAngelic: fire fang chomp, flamethrower azelf, flamethrower zoroark
AzureAngelic: nobody ever expects it
Agammemnon: "in case of"
Agammemnon: ahah

Start of turn 14

The foe's LOVE ME NOW used Mach Punch!
Garchomp lost 138 HP! (38% of its health)

Garchomp used Outrage!
The foe's LOVE ME NOW lost 50% of its health!
The foe's LOVE ME NOW fainted!

Agammemnon sent out Gliscor!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Gliscor!

OPEN THE DOOR

Start of turn 15
The foe's Gliscor used Protect!
The foe's Gliscor protected itself!

Garchomp used Outrage!
The foe's Gliscor protected itself!

Garchomp's health is sapped by leech seed.
Garchomp calmed down!
Garchomp became confused!
The foe's Gliscor's Toxic Orb activated!
The foe's Gliscor was poisoned!

Start of turn 16
Garchomp is confused!
Garchomp used Outrage!
The foe's Gliscor lost 98% of its health!

The foe's Gliscor used Earthquake!
Garchomp lost 65 HP! (18% of its health)
Garchomp fainted!

The foe's Gliscor restored HP using its Poison Heal!

EVERYBODY WALK THE DINO-Oh, shit.

That wasn't supposed to happen.

Agammemnon: ahah Gliscor, make me a baby

Well, fuck. Garchomp loses by the tiniest margin. Looks like it's all up to Cloyster.

AzureAngelic sent out Cloyster!
Pointed stones dug into Cloyster!

3-1 Agammemnon
(75%) vs
(8%)

Let me tell you a story.

Once upon a time, there was a Trainer. His Cloyster was fast, strong, and could rip apart entire teams. This was thanks to Shell Break, one of the best moves ever.

However, there came a time when this Cloyster began to have trouble. It would come into battle, ready to fight, and use Shell Break to prepare himself. But by the time his shell was ready, the other Pokemon would have killed him with Earthquakes or Fire Blasts!

Cloyster was sad. "How can I destroy entire teams if I can't get ready?", he wondered. He thought about this for three days and two nights, before he realized the problem: he wasn't fast enough.

He very well couldn't make himself faster; his EVs were maxed out, and his Trainer had lovingly raised him to be the fastest Cloyster ever!

But then he made a discovery.

Start of turn 17
Cloyster used Icicle Spear!
It's super effective!
The foe's Gliscor lost 13% of its health!
The foe's Gliscor fainted!
Hit 1 times!

AzureAngelic: GO SCARF CLOYSTER GO

Agammemnon sent out Jumpluff! (Burungeru)
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Jumpluff!
The foe's Jumpluff was poisoned!

(75%) vs
(65%)

And naturally, out comes Burungeru. There's nothing I can do; time to pop this bastard.

Start of turn 19
Cloyster used Icicle Spear!
It's not very effective...
The foe's Jumpluff lost 5% of its health!
The foe's Jumpluff lost 6% of its health!
The foe's Jumpluff lost 6% of its health!
The foe's Jumpluff lost 6% of its health!

Cloyster lost 171 HP! (70% of its health)

The foe's Jumpluff restored a little HP using its Leftovers!
The foe's Jumpluff is hurt by poison!

(5%) vs
(30%)

You know, I never realized how much I hated Burungeru until now. Here I am, with one of the best physical sweepers in the generation, and I'm faced with an impregnable squishy wall.

It's all or nothing.

GO, SPEED CLOYSTER, GO

And with that, Cloyster regains his title of "total badass MF".

Props:

  • Zoroark for ninja-killing Deoxys.
  • Azelf for getting those rocks up, which probably cost Agammemnon the game at the end.
  • My Garchomp for proving Nattorei's futility.
  • Cloyster for being awesome.
  • Deoxys for ultimately sealing Heatran's fate.
  • Burungeru for pretty much ruining my life forever.
  • Gliscor for stopping Garchomp's rampage.
  • Agammemnon for being the only person I've battled to actually be conversational and stay to gg.
Slops:

  • Azelf for dying so easily and not doing too much.
  • Heatran for utterly failing to stop Burungeru.
  • Tentacruel's Evil Eye for being absolutely useless.
  • Me for forgetting Water Absorb.
  • Nattorei for completely failing.
  • Deoxys for falling for the oldest trick in the book.
  • Roopushin and Agammemnon's Garchomp for not getting to do anything.
MVP:

  • Really, do I need to say it?
    Hint: It's Cloyster.

AzureAngelic: GO SCARF CLOYSTER GO

*OHKOs Garchomp at 93%*

Agammemnon: fuck it's really scarfed

THIS. THIS is the kind of shit I enjoy reading. 8/10 for superb warstory, but Burungeru really did ruined you and had no reason to switch out... there were also a few misplays (as you said in the Slops). So yeah, great job!

Nice battle
I actually liked it

Oh well

Was it a SDYacheChomp?

As has been said, not the best battle or the most in-depth commentary, however the commentary was entertaining which is the next best thing to in-depth.

Right now it's SDYache, but I've experimented with SDHaban and honestly I can't decide on which to use. Both work great, and I've had so many instances where having the other would have saved me.

Hm. If you'd got up two layers of Toxic Spikes instead of just one, you'd have lost. (Assuming nothing else changed).

I know, right?
You use Yache and suddenly a Latios/Latias show up.
You use Haban and Porygon2/Mamoswine appear.

[fixed]. The late-game Cloyster sweep kicked ass but to me it was kind of overshadowed by how you got stalled/spanked by that mustached balloon

Format was 10. Battle was below average. Really, it lasted 20 turns and the final ones were just a Cloyster sweep. The battle was very poor actually. Pringles walled you to hell. Had your opponent played smarter, it would be a gg for you.

Recenltly the first rates come from excited people that don't rate all the aspects involved on a good WS.

Wonderful format, but pick a better battle next time.

Extrasensory Zoroark and most important, Scarf Cloyster won the day. The battle was OK, and the comments really good. 8/10. Keep writing :)

Not the best battle, but dunno I enjoyed it and some parts of it were funny. I also just found out that Zoroark doesn't learn Psychic haha.

I think I am the only one here that reads every warstory and never looks down on any of them or give them pointless scores with witty comments to make myself look better. I always enjoy to gain some insight in to other players' minds. I enjoyed it man, keep goin'.

Hm. If you'd got up two layers of Toxic Spikes instead of just one, you'd have lost. (Assuming nothing else changed).
how? Had pringles attacked heatran, the damage would stack and it would get hit by Dark Pulse. Heatran wouldnt be OHKOed by pringle's hot water. Also, he had azelf with (lol) flamethrower and (?) psychic.

Scarf Cloyster FTW. 9/10. And don't worry, I hate Pringles Man too. >_> never being able to use him well, and he always screws things up. Right up there on my hate list just below Barujina.

The battle itself was a bit sloppy. However, the commentary was amusing and the format was great (especially the use of different colors).

7/10

Also, it's good for a first warstory. Keep 'em coming.
