- Hydro Pump / Surf
- Dark Pulse
- Sludge Wave / Extrasensory
- Spikes / Ice Beam / Water Shuriken / Extrasensory
[SET COMMENTS]
With nearly perfect coverage and an incredible base Speed stat of 122, Choice Specs Greninja is able to naturally outspeed and threaten most of the tier, including staples such as Mega Latias, Iron Moth, Excadrill, and Alakazam. Hydro Pump and Dark Pulse are Greninja's standard STAB moves, threatening the aforementioned Pokemon as well as many defensive options like Ting-Lu and Slowking. Surf can be utilized for its consistency and higher PP against stall teams but can miss out on OHKOs on notable threats like Buzzwole and Magnezone. Sludge Wave allows Greninja to threaten the Grass- and Fairy types that resist its STAB moves, like Tapu Fini, Mega Venusaur, and Hydrapple. Extrasensory allows Greninja to OHKO Keldeo and can also OHKO Mega Venusaur after slight chip damage. Spikes allows Greninja to support its team while also pressuring special walls that it cannot break through like Chansey and Gastrodon. Ice Beam is also an option that allows Greninja to OHKO non-Choice Scarf Galarian Zapdos, Enamorus, and Hydreigon. Water Shuriken is a niche option, but it can allow Greninja to check faster threats like Speed Booster Energy Iron Moth, Mega Aerodactyl, and Sand Rush Excadrill if they are at low health. Choice Specs Greninja is typically seen on offensive teams that appreciate its ability to pivot into physical walls and wallbreak for its teammates. Therefore, offensive pivots like Galarian Zapdos, Scizor, and Victini are appreciated, as they give Greninja opportunities to launch its attacks against their checks, such as Clefable, Skarmory, and Skeledirge. In return, these physical attackers can threaten special walls like Chansey and Assault Vest Tangrowth for Greninja. Greninja also appreciates entry hazard support from the likes of Clefable or Hippowdon to wear down its checks quicker. Hazard support also frees Greninja to use an attacking move instead of Spikes. Clefable and Hippowdon are also notable because they can check faster threats, such as Choice Scarf Galarian Zapdos and Zeraora, for Greninja.

Battle Bond (Greninja) @ Life Orb / Waterium Z
Ability: Battle Bond
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Dark Pulse
- Sludge Wave
- Water Shuriken
[SET COMMENTS]
Battle Bond allows Greninja to become an incredible late-game cleaner, able to pick up KOs on weakened defensive pieces like Ting-Lu and Clefable and convert a Battle Bond boost into a sweep. Hydro Pump is necessary on Battle Bond Greninja, as its extra power alongside either Life Orb or Waterium Z allows it to activate Battle Bond more easily. Dark Pulse and Sludge Wave are good coverage options alongside Hydro Pump, giving Greninja super effective coverage against most tier staples, such as Slowbro, Tapu Fini, and Hydrapple. Water Shuriken allows Greninja to remove and activate Battle Bond against faster threats, such as Mega Aerodactyl and Booster Energy Speed Iron Moth. Water Shuriken can even remove Sand Rush Excadrill and Hawlucha, which outspeed +1 Greninja. Waterium Z can be used over Life Orb as a way to surprise defensive options like Clefable and Celesteela that would otherwise be able to stomach Life Orb-boosted attacks and retaliate back. Because of its reliance on the one-time Battle Bond boost, Battle Bond Greninja is only seen on hyper offense or offense teams looking for an effective late-game cleaner. Teammates like Iron Moth and Aegislash can help weaken defensive Pokemon like Ting-Lu and Mega Venusaur that may stop a boosted Greninja from completing a sweep. Entry hazard support is also required, so a teammate like lead Excadrill or lead Mew are recommended. These leads are also appreciated for their ability to keep hazards off the field, as Greninja can often be picked off mid-sweep due to Life Orb recoil and sometimes taking hits from bulkier Pokemon that it cannot OHKO, such as Celesteela and Scizor.
