Draco Meteor is Mega Latios's primary STAB move and can be used to deal significant damage to neutral targets, even OHKOing offensive Pokemon such as Greninja and Landorus-T. Psychic is Latios's secondary STAB move, nailing Fairy-types such as Clefable and Tapu Bulu as well as Poison-types such as Toxapex. Earthquake is the aspect of this set that differentiates Mega Latios from non-Mega Latios, dealing with Pokemon that normally switch into it, most notably OHKOing Heatran and 2HKOing Assault Vest Magearna and Choice Band Tyranitar. Roost increases Mega Latios's longevity, allowing it to switch into offensive threats such as Keldeo and Heatran more reliably. Roost also allows Mega Latios to beat many defensive Pokemon such as Tangrowth, Mew, and Zapdos one-on-one.

Set Details
=======

252 EVs in Speed with a Naive nature allows Mega Latios to outspeed key threats such as Kartana, Keldeo, and Mega Pinsir while not compromising the power of Earthquake. A Naive nature is chosen over Hasty to make Mega Latios less liable to being revenge killed by priority users. However, you can elect to give Mega Latios a Hasty nature if your team heavily relies on Mega Latios to check specific special attackers like Heatran; although, this leaves Mega Latios more liable to Pursuit trapping. 36 Attack EVs ensure a 2HKO on 0 HP Choice Band Tyranitar with Earthquake, while the rest of the EVs are dumped into Special Attack to allow Latios to maximize its power, ensuring that Draco Meteor and Psychic do as much damage as possible.

Usage Tips
========

Using Mega Latios is fairly straightforward. Mega Latios should stick to using the appropriate STAB move in most scenarios in order to deal as much damage as possible. However, beware of Draco Meteor's side effect, which prevents Mega Latios from spamming it. If there is a Heatran or Magnezone on the opposing side, you can elect to remain non-Mega and bluff a Choice Scarf until the foe switches into one of either Magnezone or Heatran, luring it into being KOed by Earthquake. However, Latios should use Earthquake on Magearna upon switching because it cannot be 2HKOed otherwise if the opportunity presents itself. Draco Meteor + Earthquake has a very large chance to KO Choice Band Tyranitar; however, Earthquake should still be used upon switching if possible because bulkier variants have a larger possibility to survive the combination. Mega Latios should preferably be brought in with VoltTurn support or double switches in spite of its respectable bulk in order to maximize its longevity and leave it out of range of being revenge killed by priority and faster Pokemon, but it can still be switched into Pokemon that it checks well, most commonly Keldeo or Zapdos.

Team Options
========

Magnezone is a very useful partner for Mega Latios because it removes all of the bulky Steel-types that are neutral or immune to Earthquake, such as Mega Scizor, Ferrothorn, and Celesteela, making it significantly easier for Mega Latios to wallbreak. Due to Mega Latios's potency as a wallbreaker, late-game sweepers such as Dragon Dance Supersonic Skystrike Gyarados, Choice Scarf Tapu Lele, and Choice Scarf Kartana benefit from Mega Latios's ability to punch holes in teams. Gyarados in particular is a useful teammate because it allows you to lead your opponent to suspecting that the team is utilizing a Mega Gyarados instead, making Earthquake more effective in KOing common Pokemon that Latios lures in. Additionally, offensive Pokemon that appreciate Heatran and Magearna being KOed by Mega Latios, such as Shift Gear Magearna and Choice Scarf Tapu Lele, make excellent teammates. Pokemon that lay entry hazards such as Landorus-T, Greninja, and Ferrothorn make excellent teammates because their support helps wear down checks to Mega Latios such as Assault Vest Magearna, Ferrothorn, and Mega Tyranitar. Ferrothorn in particular is a useful teammate because it checks key offensive Pokemon that force out Mega Latios such as Double Dance Magearna, Choice Specs Tapu Koko, and Choice Specs Ash-Greninja.

Not QC, but your calc is wrong

36 Atk Latios-Mega Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tyranitar: 172-204 (50.4 - 59.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

It's a 2HKO, not a OHKO one,

Roost increases Mega Latios's longevity, allowing it to stick around for longer in the match and switch into offensive threats such as Keldeo and Heatran more reliably.
