Magnezone @ Leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 Def / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Iron Defense
- Body Press
- Thunderbolt
- Toxic / Substitute

Magnezone operates as a great support teammate to trap Steel-type walls, mainly Corviknight, Skarmory, and Ferrothorn. It can take out the former two thanks to Magnet Pull and Thunderbolt, which allows Pokemon like Rillaboom, Garchomp, and Tapu Lele to thrive. It can also use Iron Defense to strengthen Body Press and take out checks in Ferrothorn and Blissey, as well as becoming more able to take physical hits from Melmetal and Bisharp before retaliating with a boosted Body Press. Toxic wears down troubling Ground-types in Garchomp and Landorus-T that counter Magnezone rather comfortably. Substitute can also be used to further exploit Steel-types to give Magnezone an extra hit off on whatever comes in to revenge kill it. Iron Defense Magnezone does not have many other uses in a battle and mainly acts as a way to trap and remove Steel-types to allow its teammates to shine.

sorry, putting a pause in this; the exact same set (except for the toxic slash on sub) was spotlighted just a few months ago, and id like to gauge whether its different enough to actually warrant a set before making you waste time on this.

Magnezone operates as a great support teammate to trap and make holes in certain teams. "make holes in certain teams" kind of reads weirdly. i would combine this and the following sentence to "Magnezone operates as a great support teammate to trap Steel-type walls, mainly Corviknight, Skarmory, and Ferrothorn, while enabling offensive threats like Rillaboom, Garchomp, and Tapu Lele." up to you as to how you want to organize it It can take out Corviknight and Skarmory thanks to Magnet Pull and Thunderbolt, which allows Pokemon like Rillaboom, Garchomp, and Tapu Lele Landorus-T to thrive strive i think u meant to say this with these checks being removed. although offensive lando is a solid mention, i think lele is much more relevant in this current metagame and has seen a lot more immediate usage alongside zone recently It can also use Iron Defense to make its Body Press more threatening to take out checks in Ferrothorn and Blissey, as well as become more able to take physical hits from Excadrill and Bisharp and retaliate with Body Press after an Iron Defense boost. letting you take more physical hits from exca is kind of a reach... could probably mention something else here like melm or choice locked kart. Substitute can also provide more opportunities to set up on passive Pokemon that lack a way to break it and allows Magnezone to need less prediction when in play. the biggest thing about sub imo is blocking ferro leech seed, as well as potentially getting another hit off on something trying to revenge you after you've trapped a steel. you usually aren't clicking sub unless you're already sitting in front of a steel because of constraints from shitty coverage limiting you offensively However, Toxic can also be used to wear down troubling Ground-types in Garchomp and Landorus-T who can counter Magnezone rather comfortably. Besides the aforementioned uses, Iron Defense Magnezone does not have many uses in a battle otherwise and mainly acts as a Pokemon to trap Steel-types and allow its teammates to shine once they are removed. specs zone can still wallbreak well vs unprepared teams

Hey, I'm translating your spotlight and noticed that the sentence " However, Toxic can also be used to wear down troubling Ground-types in Garchomp and Landorus-T who can counter Magnezone rather comfortably." appears two times in the analysis. According to the corrections Finland made, I think you should remove the second one.

Thanks for pointing that out, Don't know what happened there really, maybe my internet didn't save the edits. Regardless should be fine now.
