An inspiring quote at first glance, to be sure. Hard work, practice, and self confidence can make a difference.
But then, you really have to consider the speaker. Charlie Brown is a pretty intelligent child who has perpetually failed at everything he’s ever done for half a century.
So I pose this question. Is it motivating and inspiring that a character who has never experienced true success can still muster the stuff to believe, even for an instant, that success is possible?
Or is it hopelessly depressing that the bald boy doomed to fail forever is still just naive enough to think he might succeed, thus making each new failure fresh and painful?
