VGC Raging Bolt 2 [GP 1/1]

[OVERVIEW]

* Raging Bolt, with a higher Special Attack than Flutter Mane, massive HP, and good defenses, serves its role as a bulky damage dealer exceptionally well.

* Don't let Raging Bolt's middling Speed fool you; its signature move, Thunderclap, precents it from being an issue in a lot of situations and makes the Tornadus + Urshifu-R matchup virtually trivial. Raging Bolt is also really strong into the Ogerpon formes and Rillaboom, as it resists all of their STAB moves except Ogerpon-C's, unless the Ogerpon-H and Rillaboom are carrying Stomping Tantrum and High Horsepower as coverage, respectively.

* Raging Bolt pairs insanely well with Rillaboom and Incineroar, as they provide Fake Out pressure for Raging Bolt to take advantage of by lowering the foe's Special Attack or Speed on the Assault Vest set, set up with the Calm Mind set or deal massive damage with the three attacks set. Rillaboom also provides more longevity in Grassy Terrain for Raging Bolt, which can make it immensely difficult to KO. Chien-Pao and Choice Scarf Urshifu-R are also excellent partners thanks to dealing with Raging Bolt's worst matchup, Landorus.

* That said, Raging Bolt does still have bad matchups, one of which is the aforementioned Landorus due to it being able to threaten an OHKO against Raging Bolt with Earth Power. Chien-Pao can also be a tricky matchup, as it can deal massive damage with its Ice-type STAB move and cause mindgames with Sucker Punch. Flutter Mane is able to deal huge damage to Raging Bolt even when it Terastallizes and can very comfortably take unboosted Thunderclaps.

[SET]
Assault Vest (Raging Bolt) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Protosynthesis
Level: 50
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 244 HP / 108 Def / 100 SpA / 4 SpD / 52 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 20 Atk
- Thunderbolt / Electroweb / Volt Switch
- Thunderclap
- Draco Meteor
- Snarl / Tera Blast

* Electroweb is sometimes run over Thunderbolt for speed control. Volt Switch allows for Raging Bolt to become a bulky pivot and pairs well with Draco Meteor, allowing it to switch out after the Special Attack drop. Snarl weakens opposing special attackers, enabling it to sit on the field for longer and deal damage. Tera Blast gives Raging Bolt a strong option into bulky Dark-types and Fighting-types like Ting-Lu and Iron Hands.

* Assault Vest allows Raging Bolt to fully take advantage of its amazing bulk, letting it sit on the field and tank hit after hit all while dealing respectable damage and disrupting the foe with moves like Snarl and Electroweb.

* The defensive investment allows Raging Bolt to always survive Icicle Crash from Adamant Chien-Pao and Moonblast from Choice Specs Flutter Mane. The Speed investment allows Raging Bolt to outspeed Glimmora and Modest Chi-Yu after an Electroweb. The rest of the EVs were put into offensive investment.

* Tera Fairy is just an incredibly strong neutral Tera type, especially for a Pokemon with as much bulk as Raging Bolt has, and provides a resistance to Urshifu-S's STAB moves.

[SET]
3 Attacks (Raging Bolt) @ Booster Energy / Safety Goggles
Level: 50
Ability: Protosynthesis
EVs: 228 HP / 4 Def / 180 SpA / 4 SpD / 92 Spe
IVs: 20 Atk
Tera Type: Electric / Grass
Modest Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Thunderclap
- Draco Meteor
- Protect

* Thunderbolt provides good consistent damage, especially with Tera Electric with Magnet, while Thunderclap helps make up for Raging Bolt's middling Speed. Draco Meteor is a more powerful option, being able to OHKO Pokémon like Landorus when used with Booster Energy. However, it can be forced to switch out after a Special Attack drop and lose the boost.

* Booster Energy is a strong option, as boosting Raging Bolt's already huge base Special Attack even further turns it into an absolute nuke. Safety Goggles prevents Amoonguss from redirecting Thunderclaps away from Urshifu-R.

* The Speed investment allows Raging Bolt to outspeed Dragapult, Flutter Mane, and Chien-Pao while under Tailwind, allowing it to hit them with its stronger options like Thunderbolt and Draco Meteor.

* Tera Grass is a good option to not only resist Ground-type moves from Landorus but also ignore Amoonguss's Spore and redirection with Rage Powder without running Safety Goggles. Tera Electric will often be a consistent option for just raw damage output.

Good work, I'll be doing a recheck to see how everything was implemented!

Add, Remove, Highlight, Comment.

[OVERVIEW]

* Raging Bolt, with a higher Special Attack than Flutter Mane, massive HP, and good defenses, serves its role as a bulky damage dealer exceptionally well.

* Don't let Raging Bolt's middling Speed fool you; it's (Wrong its!!) signature move, Thunderclap, makes sure that isn't an issue in a lot of situations, making the Tornadus + Urshifu-R matchup virtually trivial. (Probably bring up 1 or 2 more good matchups, not mentioning Wellspring doesn't feel right.)

* Raging Bolt pairs insanely well with Rillaboom and Incineroar, providing Fake Out pressure for Raging Bolt to lower the opponent's Special Attack or Speed on the Assault Vest set or deal massive damage with the 3 Attacks set. Rillaboom also provides more longevity in Grassy Terrain for Raging Bolt, which can make it immensely difficult to KO. Chien-Pao and Choice Scarf Urshifu-R are also excellent partners at thanks to dealing with Raging Bolt's worst matchup, Landorus.

* That said, Raging Bolt does still have bad matchups despite its strengths, one of which is the aforementioned Landorus, due to it being able to threaten OHKOs against Raging Bolt with Earth Power. Chien-Pao can also be a tricky matchup, as it can deal massive damage with Ice Spinner or Icicle Crash its Ice STAB move and cause mindgames with Sucker Punch and Thunderclap. Flutter Mane is able to deal huge damage to Raging Bolt even when it Terastallizes, and can very comfortably take unboosted Thunderclaps. (Mainly trimming unnecessary stuff.)

[SET]
Assault Vest (Raging Bolt) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Protosynthesis
Level: 50
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 244 HP / 108 Def / 100 SpA / 4 SpD / 52 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 20 Atk
- Thunderbolt / Electroweb / Volt Switch
- Thunderclap
- Draco Meteor
- Snarl / Tera Blast (Did pretty well at Knox, used to make sure Bolt counters both Urshifu formes really well.)

* Electroweb is sometimes ran over Thunderbolt as the for speed control can be incredibly useful for some teams. Volt Switch allows for Raging Bolt to become a bulky pivoting threat, and pairs well with Draco Meteor allowing it to still deal damage while switching out after the Special Attack Drop. Snarl not only makes its allies more specially bulky, but makes Raging Bolt itself more bulky as well, allowing it to do it's (Its) job better of sitting on the field and dealing damage. (Mainly chopping down stuff still, people can figure it out through what you already have written. Also remember to talk about Tera Blast)

* Assault Vest allows Raging Bolt to fully take advantage of its amazing bulk, letting it sit on the field and tank hit after hit all while dealing respectable damage but also disrupting the opponent with moves like Snarl and Electroweb.

* The defensive investment allows you Raging Bolt to always live survive (Both for formality.) Icicle Crash from Adamant Chien-Pao, and Moonblast from Choice Specs Modest Flutter Mane with 116 EVs in Special Attack. (116+ is the same as 252, no need to clarify.) The speed investment allows you to outspeed max Speed Timid Glimmora and max Speed Modest Chi-Yu after an Electroweb. The rest of the EVs were put into offensive investment.

* Tera Fairy is just an incredibly strong neutral Tera type into the meta right now, especially for a Pokemon with as much bulk as Raging Bolt has, and provides a resistance to Urshifu-S's STAB moves.

[SET]
3 Attacks (Raging Bolt) @ Magnet / Safety Goggles/ Booster Energy Booster Energy / Safety Goggles (Magnet just sucks and is a worse Booster Energy, out of every regional in Regulation F, it made day 2 once in Charlotte, even Horoark has done better. Booster is the most common rn.)
Level: 50
Ability: Protosynthesis
EVs: 228 HP / 4 Def / 180 SpA / 4 SpD / 92 Spe
IVs: 20 Atk
Tera Type: Grass / Electric (Prevelant rn, Booster Bolt's attacks not getting redirected and Lando rising are huge factors.)
Modest Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Thunderclap
- Draco Meteor
- Protect

* Thunderbolt is there for good consistent damage, especially with Tera Electric with Magnet, while Thunderclap helps make up for Raging Bolt's middling Speed. Draco Meteor is a more powerful option, being able to OHKO Pokémon like Landorus when used with Booster Energy. However, it can be forced to switch out and lose the boost when using Booster Energy.

* Magnet is the most consistent item option, especially when paired with Tera Electric, drastically increasing Raging Bolt's damage. Booster Energy is another option, as it not only boosts its Electric-type moves, but it also boosts Draco Meteor. (Should be reworded with Magnet removed.) Safety Goggles prevents Amoonguss from redirecting Thunderclaps away from Urshifu-R.

* The Speed investment allows Raging Bolt to outspeed Dragapult, Flutter Mane, and Chien-Pao while under Tailwind, allowing it to hit them with its stronger options like Thunderbolt and Draco Meteor. The HP is optimized for Life Orb chip if used. (No Life Orb in the set.)

* Tera Electric will often be the strongest and most consistent option. Tera Grass is a good option to not only resist Ground-type moves from Landorus, but also if you want to ignore Amoonguss' Spore and redirection with Rage Powder without running Safety Goggles. (Swap the two.) Finally, Tera Fairy is just a strong neutral Tera type to pair with such amazing bulk. (Not in the set.)
