Pros
  1. It has a great 110 | 110 | 110 bulk
  2. I guess it has knock off, which is good for normal types.
  3. Its attack is titanic at 160... in theory.
  4. It has a funny weight.
Cons
  1. Pure Normal is not precisely the best typing on both offense and defense, being walled by steel and ghost and KOd.
  2. Regigigas movepool as support is terrible after the move cut of gen 9, meaning it can't use its bulk to support its teammates.
  3. It lacks reliable recovery and ways to chip the opponent, meaning cannot use its great bulk to wall properly.
  4. It also lacks a boosting option after the move cut of gen 9 to use its great bulk for setup opportunities.
  5. Slow start is the single worst hability in pokémon.
    1. Due to Slow Start, its base Attack is effectively 71 and it only becomes worse the more you invest, which makes physical regigigas very passive for 5 turns.
    2. Because regigigas is so weak due to slow start, it is an easy setup fodder for any pokémon.
    3. Due to Slow Start, its speed is 41, meaning it is prone to get messed up before acting and makes investing in speed worthless.
    4. Due to Slow Start it is the most vulnerable pokémon to phasing in the game, and one of the most vulnerable to taunt as well.
    5. Due to Slow Start, it is forced to use a lot of moves to stall, meaning it suffers severe 4MSS on an otherwise decent physical movepool.
    6. In general, due to Slow Start Physically offensive regigigas does not work.
  6. Regigigas Special attack is only 80, which is just bad on said offense.
  7. Regigigas special movepool is straight up atrocious, with literal 4 usable moves needing to use pre terastalization Tera Blast as STAB, and the other 3 moves aren't particularly strong or reliable either. This means special Regigigas will not work properly in any tier over PU.
  8. Due to Slow Start and bad special attack, Regigigas it is a terrible Tera user, because it lacks the potency needed to abuse its surprise factor.
  9. Due to Tera, the meta is more offensive than usual, making its terrible hability even worse due to how offense punish passive pokémon.
  10. Due to all the prior points, Regigigas is just worthless in a fully evolved context. It fails at every single role it tries, support, on attack on either side or wall.
Tera implications
  • Due to Slow Start, low utility and bad special prowers, Terastalization is straight up terrible on Regigigas.
  • In case you feel forced to use tera on Regigigas, is better to be one defensively oriented and ideally to cover that fighting weakness.
    • 1702906539084.png
Ghost gives us immunity towards fighting, spin immunity and in general ghost + normal is just great defensively.
    • 1702906606799.png
Fairy is just the best tera overall, and works well with normal to avoid fighting weakness, as well as the relatively common draco meteor and dark move.
    • 1702906701745.png
      Poison
is a great defensive typing who gives us resistance to fighting, as well as a poison immunity.
    • 1702906875225.png
      Ice
to try to get both BoltBeam and the ground + Ice offensive combo, making regigigas impossible to resist in the literal sense (Because on the practical one...).
    • 1702918626730.png
Normal is for us to try to deal something to the enemy.
    • 1702908700509.png
Stellar because it's new and shiny... in all seriousness, because in context of all-out attacker is a better tera than normal.

Report AFK (Regigigas) @ Leftovers / Chesto Berry
Ability: Slow Start
Tera Type: Ghost / Poison / Fairy
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Body Slam / Double Edge / Facade
- Knock Off / Earthquake
- Substitute / Protect / Rest
- Drain Punch / Earthquake / Sleep Talk / Fire Punch / Ice Punch
  • The EVs and nature are so we can inflict as much damage as possible while trying to survive as long as possible.
  • Leftovers are almost mandatory to get the most amount of survivability and because we'll not get switching with this thing often.
  • Chesto Berry is an option if you're running rest.
  • Slow Start is the reason no tier except NFE-like ones takes Regigigas seriously.
  • Body Slam is our primary source of damage, being normal type and chance to inflict paralysis so Regigigas will outspeed something for once.
  • Alternativaly you can use Facade to deal with burn and poison or Double edge if you don't mind the recoil.
  • Knock off is a solid move to both deal with ghosts and to deal with pesky items.
  • Earthquake theoretically deals with the ground and rocks who want to wall regigigas.
  • There's no way to work without at least one stall tool out our very limited arsenal. The options are protect, Substitute, Protect and Rest, all with pros and cons.
  • Substitute makes regigigas immune to status moves, which is huge considering how vulnerable this thing is to toxic.
  • Protect is literally free turns and more recovery from leftovers. Beware of being too predictable though due to setup. Given on gen 8 btw.
  • Rest is another move given on gen 8 to try to heal so you can survive for longer. Makes you a sitting duck for many turns though (Not like you were threatening to begin with).
  • Drain Punch is a tool who mixes both recovery and coverage against rock and steel, making it a solid option specially after the removal of power-up punch.
  • Sleep talk is a fun tool for Rest sets so you are not passive during rest, but is random and 1 out of 3 it'll do nothing.
  • Fire and Ice Punch are coverage against meta-specific threats who happen to have a x4 weakness to fire or ice.
  • Tera is used to avoid fighting weakness with some useful utility who is mostly team-dependant. Ghost for immunities to fighting and normal, as well as resisting poison and U-turn. Finally, Fairy is just good defensively with resistances to Dark, Fighting and Bug types, as well as immunity to draco meteor.

Bulky "Support"

Troll teammate (Regigigas) @ Leftovers / Chesto Berry
Ability: Slow Start
Tera Type: Poison / Fairy / Ghost
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Body Slam
- Knock Off
- Thunder Wave
- Rest / Substitute / Protect
  • The EVs here are to be as bulky as possible on the special side of things
  • Leftovers is usually the preferred choice, but you can justify Chesto Berry with Rest.
  • Body slam both deals damage and spreads paralysis.
  • Knock off removes items and deals with ghosts.
  • Thunder Wave is a more direct way to paralyze the enemy.
  • Rest, Substitute and Protect, they all try to make Regigigas more resiliant in their own ways.
  • Tera is, again, defensive to deal with fighting type moves with their own little benefit. Poison for toxic, ghost for immunity and fairy for general usage.

Specs "Wallbreaker"
1702917408574.png

Sunken Cost (Regigigas) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Slow Start
Tera Type: Ice / Normal / Stellar
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Tera Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Earth Power
- Focus Blast
  • The EVs and nature are so Regigigas hits as hard as possible.
    • Fun fact: Even with this kind of investment Regigigas special attack is lower than its physical attack (284 vs 292)
  • You can't be a specs wallbreaker without choice specs.
  • The moves used are literally the only 4 decent special moves Regigigas can learn.
    • Tera blast is, I kid you not, our most damaging move with reliability. As a reminder, on Normal types Tera Blast does not get a boost on power after terastalization, unless it's to Normal or Stellar.
    • Thunderbolt hits neutrally most enemies and bypasses Ghost immunity, as well as ignoring steel and rock's resistance to normal.
    • Earth Power is here to deal supereffective damage to Steel and ground types.
    • "Focus" Blast is a more powerful, less reliable earth power who ignores levitate.
  • Tera Ice is to achieve virtually perfect coverage between Ice, Electric and Ground.
  • Tera Normal makes tera Blast actually deal damage.
  • Tera Stellar is so all of our moves deal a 20% extra damage and Tera Blast becomes an anti-tera tool.
Conclussion

There is always 2 debates going around when it comes to pokémon who involves Regigigas.
  1. Which Legendary is the worst one? Regigigas or Normal Calyrex?
  2. Is Regigigas or Slaking worse?
In the first a year ago I would've said neither, Phione is even worse due to how bad every of its stat are, and I'm sure you even forgot it existed... Until gen 9 because Take Hearth gives something resembling a niche, while Regigigas lost a lot of support tools, so I would say Regigigas is the worst Legendary in gen 9.
Meanwhile, on the second question, Regigigas lost a lot of crucial tools who made it kinda work better than Slaking, while Slaking didn't lost anything huge and even got Knock off as a compensation for pursuit, so I would say again, Regigigas is the worse of the Normal types. Besides, Regigigas is less exciting than Slaking, because at least the latter is a nuke who forces reads and can do more on low ladder, while the other is trying to stall you out for 5 turns ala Toxapex or Chansey, every single time it enters, and often multiple times.

In conclussion, Regigigas is Truly awful, awful to the point it would suck in NFE, and the worst part is that you can't even play them in BH because... reasons I still don't understand (I gave up on understanding the mod ages ago. Tried once and wasn't pretty). So it lacks any place it can call home, and it would be bad even if there it was a 7U, making it just a waste of memory that does not deserve anything. Regigigas is truly a pokémon of all time.

This Mon is not even close for being the worst (worst being most outclassed) legendary in OU Meta.

Sleeping Titan (Regigigas) @ Leftovers
Ability: Slow Start
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD (EVs can be adjusted).
Tera type: Every defensive Tera that exists.
Careful Nature
- Body Slam
- Knock Off
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Last generation this Mon won a SPL battle in a Gen in which Tapu Koko and Fini (Restalk worst nightmare) were a thing. Koko and Fini are not present this Gen, so the only Mon that actually doesn,t fear neither losing item, nor being paralyzed is Gliscor. Vs teams that have no Fight Moves this thing is literally immortal and does progress by crippling Mons with Knock or paralyzing them. Needs support, yes, but that bulk is actually very good. It also has (after Slow Start wears off) 356 Attack... uninvested.

Legendary Mons that have less niches in OU Meta:
Phione (fully outclassed by Manaphy).
Calyrex (Morkal might disagree, but I see it much worse than Regigigas).
Mesprit ( either Uxie, Azelf, Cresselia or several other Mons do its job way better).
Regirock (Garganacl is right there)

Won,t put calcs, but don,t underestimate Regigigas. He just have to wait for Gliscor to be banned, like many other Mons.

Slaking: Allow me to introduce myself

In my opinion, I think Regigigas would perform better in Double Battles if its ally has either Skill Swap, Worry Seed, Entertianment or Gastro Acid which gets rid of Slow Start. However, the strategy comes down to keeping Regigigas safe from any harm to pull it off.
