Silly Things You've Seen In Other Metagames

Right's team is a work of modern art. Someone take this one.
Had to look up the GotG thread to figure out what was going on here, but when I did, oh boy.
(R) Arceus in the HP slot. Not awful at first glance, but then we see...
(R) Kyurem-B taking a 50 point nerf in the Attack slot.
(R) In a similar vein, Alakazam taking a smaller, but still bad, 15 point SpA nerf.
(R) Wailmer in the Speed slot. If anything, swap it and Alakazam.
(R) Mega Garchomp and Kyurem-B on the same team.
(R) Said Megachomp (which is at least in the right place) having SD+EQ+Dragon Breath+Dragon Pulse.

Not just that, but there was also amCharizard on the same team. Which means it wasn't mega.
Though most Charizards do a horrible job at demonstrating it, an offensive Sun team might like non-mega Charizard on its side to raise its Fire Blasts to god-like power.
...Then again, you might just want a Venusaur for that.

Speaking of that...

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/giftsofthegods-449640254
Here's another non-Mega Charizard. With an Aurorus and a mixed Volcorona to boot.

Since GotG is actually pretty darn competent, I went back to an old favorite, and was not disappointed.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-449641814
This starts off normally enough, but then Kyogre takes center stage, and shows the opponent cannot deal with it. Even though he should be able to.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-449642563
Okay. Let me just show you this Mega Sceptile's set...
Glare
Attract
Confuse Ray
Me First

And that's hardly the only problem with this match.

Right's team is hilariously dumb. I'm going to start by saying they have a Raticate.
Oh. Oh my....

[R] Excadrill. IN THE ATTACK SPOT.
[R] Mega Gengar as a god, period.
[R] Doesn't realize what Magic Bounce is.
[R] Hydro Cannon/Water Spout Blastoise.
[R] Physical Manectric.
[R] Excadrill does nothing to Sableye, as expected.
[R] The Rat proves its incompetence with banded Hyper Fang.

Raticate can be good... but not like this. You need to go the full Monty, and give him sky-high attack.

this battle is amazing for all the wrong reasons.
Also, physical SYNCHRONIZE Espeon and custap berry cubone.
Tbh I don't really like seeing teams get swept by Swagkeys. It's just not very fun to watch.

I'll give you a pass for that one, however. That Salac Berry Sylveon though.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-450268733 I thought I'd stop seeing silly things on the high ladder. Turns out I was wrong.

i agree that it's not fun to watch, but it's a lot of fun to use. especially when Salt happens. which i'm surprised it doesn't happen as often as i thought.

[L] CM Primal Kyogre certainly is a legit thing, but here it does precisely jack shit (well, other than tank a CB Ho-Oh Brave Bird).
[L] Salamence set of Double-Edge/EQ/Hydro Pump (not terrible, but not really hitting anything, either), which doesn't mega. It also does precisely jack shit.
[L] Sky Attack Yveltal a) at all; b) against a Clefable (which somehow can't even 2HKO it with Moonblast); c) against a Clefable that has revealed Protect. Dual special STABs otherwise.
[L] Forfeits when CM Faircyeus is Encored into Recover.

The battle itself isn't silly, but the chat sure is. Someone who was number two on the ladder for a few days should not be acting this immature over the coin flip. Ugh.

(Sorry for the lack of AG silliness recently, I sadly haven't encountered much in the high ladder!)
It's also nice to see some high ladder innovation, such as double Lopunny to confuse your opponents (who has Switcheroo? Who is the Mega?) and... Earth Power Primal Groudon (only legitimate use would be as a counter to Klefki spam, certainly with physically defensive investment to reduce confusion/Foul Play damage).

Silent Mobius is inventive, I'll give him that. He can be really childish though.

Okay, maybe GotG is not completely fool-proof after all. At least there's a ton of good people in there.

I can't explain some of the plays made by right. Or the Slaking.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/giftsofthegods-450348269
Heatran has secured this match pretty easily.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/giftsofthegods-450659077
Another Mega Gengar god. And more one-sided bad playing.

AG in a nutshell.

So watching low ladder Anything Goes is probably more fun than actually playing on the ladder. Witness this instant classic:

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-450895799
ft. zero-STAB Mewtwo-X, non-mega Kangaskhan and Focus Punch Mr Mime
Welcome to Smogon!

Also, that ain't even the half of it. I got this:

[L] Mewtwo set of Calm Mind/Double Edge/Aqua Tail/Flamethrower.
[R] Mega Audino spamming Ice Beam instead of a STAB move. (Dazzling Gleam in particular should wipe this thing out.) It does use Hyper Voice once.
[L] Kangakhan set of Body Slam/Sucker Punch/Earthquake/Thunderbolt.
[L] Arceus-Ghost using Shadow Claw on Blissey. Both of them are just randomly clicking moves. (Set is Swords Dance/Claw/Extreme Speed/Earthquake, so not terrible, but not good either.)
[R] Blissey set of Thunderbolt/Dazzling Gleam/Soft-Boiled/Earthquake. It hurts Arceus for all of 5%.
[R] Heat Wave Talonflame. If you wanna do that, use Overheat.
[L] That moment when having Aeroblast on Lugia is actually helpful.
[R] Talonflame insists on trying to drag the final exchange out--it gets a miss, but Lugia can take Brave Birds all day.

Welcome to Smogon. Even if that Kangaskhan was Mega, it would still be a silly thing because Mega Kangaskhan is totally outclassed in AG.

Man, this bout of silliness was incredibly refreshing. I felt like I was starting to become jaded.

Yeah, AG IS a goldmine for this thread.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-450941970
There is so much wrong with this battle... Everything that you can think is wrong, IS wrong with left's team. Right isn't blameless, either.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-450947078
A team falls.... to a no-STAB Ferrothorn. Leech Seed doesn't count.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-450949821
...Counter/Double Team Chansey. And HORRID playing.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-450952134
A mid-ladder match for once. Right throws away a perfectly good sweep. (Someone use this Alakazam on a Klefki team, and post the rage here, please.)

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-450955663
Two FEAR mons on Left, and a bad team on Right. Someone take this one.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-450965638
Mono-Ditto. Played badly. That is all.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-450965624
6 Deoxys on Left, and 5 of them are Attack. The best part is, this is high ladder. Sadly, it didn't play out all the way to the last mon.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-450969517
...Someone take this, too. Both people are playing badly with mediocre sets at best.

Y'know, I think that phrase should be "Iron mine" since you can find Iron a lot more consistently in iron mines than gold in gold mines lol
Also, some of your captions reminded me of this:
To maintain post quality, have an AG game:
Double hit lopunny new meta
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-450993918
Considering the name, its probably a silver mine.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/returnd-450651688
Too much to list rn, but features an offensive shedinja sweep, Hitmontop, nonmega sableye, both sides using sylveons, reuniculous, and hitmontop. The worst part about it, though, is that each side had a good set- and then evidently decided that was enough and proceeded to use... this.
