Stallbreaker Hydreigon

Hydreigon @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Taunt
- Roost
- Dark Pulse
- Flash Cannon / Dragon Pulse / Draco Meteor

Comes in on things like Heatran and Chansey, then handily bars them from spreading status or recovering, by means of Taunt. This set, despite running LO, enjoys being able to switch in multiple times in a game, so Roost pads both switch-in and LO damage. Flash Cannon is for Fairies like Clefable and Altaria, Draco Meteor if you need a powerful Dragon-type attack to better scare away walls and secure more OHKOs, or Dragon Pulse, which is my personal preference over Draco Meteor for its ability to OHKO Kyurem-B, Char-X and TankChomp without an SpA drop.

Why are you linking that, that's for BW OU and not ORAS OU lol.

Here's my entry: Work Up Hydreigon

Hydreigon @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Work Up
- Taunt
- Roost

Works like Calm Mind Latios or Work Up Mega Pidgeot - demolishes balance and stall because of a combination of Taunt, Roost, and Work Up, which gives Hydreigon the ability to cripple defensive Pokemon such as Chansey and Manaphy found on stall teams, longevity in Roost, and Work Up to boost so that Hydreigon can KO many defensive Pokemon with Draco Meteor. Draco Meteor might seem counterproductive with Work Up but the raw power it provides is what makes Hydreigon so hard to wall - Dragon Pulse could be used however. Can also use Dark Pulse instead of Draco Meteor for consistency.

Parashuffler Hydreigon

Hydreigon @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 216 HP / 252 SpA / 40 Spe
Modest Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Roost
- Dark Pulse
- Dragon Tail / Fire Blast / Flash Cannon

Works just like Parashuffler Dragonite, just with the added benefits of a Dark typing and spammable special STAB. Dragon Tail is the preffered 4th move for phazing opponents, however Fire Blast can be used for coverage on Steels, particularly Ferrothorn. Flash Cannon is also usable for Diancie and Mega Altaria, though it can't 2HKO Clefable.
EV spread is pretty flexible, you can run more bulk if you want to take hits from MGyara and Crawdaunt better, you can run 124 Speed if you want to check Bisharp (only relevant if running Fire Blast), 112 to outspeed Adamant Altaria or even 212 Speed for Jolly Altaria (if running Flash Cannon).

DarkNostalgia - Your current set can't touch any Fairy (or, realistically, any Steel type). If you're going to use Work Up, why not just run an offensive mixed set with Superpower / Earthquake?

Albacore - I like the idea of Thunder Wave, but I think the set's a bit confused. Dragonite made that set work because it could stall with Substitute (to protect against status) and Multiscale, whereas on Hydreigon, Dragon Tail's just a weak phazing move which moves last against the mons you've paralysed. Much better imo just to run a secondary coverage move to get more out of the special attack investment.

Anyway, my nom:

SubCharge Hydreigon

Hydreigon @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 72 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 180 Spe
Timid Nature
- Charge Beam
- Substitute / Roost / Taunt
- Dark Pulse
- Flash Cannon / Focus Blast

Alright, so this is a BW relic I've used in ORAS a couple of times with actually pretty good results. Charge Beam boosts your special attack fairly reliably (63% taking accuracy into account), and gives useful coverage against things like Azumarill and Keldeo. Substitute is the traditional option, blocking status etc and setting up on Rotom-W and other bulky Waters, non-Gyro Ball Ferrothorn, Toxic Hippo, and so on, but Roost and Taunt are both viable replacements.

Dark Pulse is the primary STAB option, and then there's a choice of a few coverage options, which should depend on what your team struggles with. Flash Cannon hits Fairies and Tyranitar; Focus Blast hits Ferro / Tyranitar / Heatran. SubRoost can be used, but it's not going to be hugely effective without Toxic Spikes support. Finally, you can run Roost + Taunt with no Substitute.

For the EV's, I just crept 160 Spe Timid Manaphy, because balanced teams need as many checks to that monster as they can get, and the rest is self explanatory.

My nomination is gonna be:

Choice Band Hydreigon:

Hydreigon @ Choice Band
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 24 HP / 252 Atk / 232 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Outrage
- Superpower
- U-turn
- Crunch/Aqua Tail/Earthquake/Acrobatics/Head Smash/Stone Edge/Zen Headbutt/Ice Fang

This is a set I used in BW2. It's pretty much a lure set, the EV's is to outspeed max speed Kyurem-B, dumping the rest into bulk. The moveset is pretty self-explanatory, Outrage for STAB, Superpower as general coverage and U-Turn for momentum. The last slot is a throw up between Crunch for STAB and other coverage depending on what you want to hit. Acrobatics is useful for Knock Off, Aqua Tail for Hippo and Charizard, Head Smash/Stone Edge hits similar targets, Zen Headbutt for M-Venu and Ice Fang for Gliscor and such. You can theoretically lure Fairies with Iron Tail/Steel Wing but they are weak or inaccurate to say the least.

Tailwind Hydreigon

Hydreigon @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def /252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Tailwind
- Draco Meteor
- Earth Power/Fire Blast
- Dark Pulse/Flash Cannon

One of the biggest issues with Hydreigon is its disappointing base 98 Speed stat. So what if we could change that without having to give Hydra a scarf? Enter Tailwind, a move that doubles speed for 4 turns, and allows Hydreigon to double its already satisfying speed at 324 (after Max speed and Timid Nature) to 648. For reference, this means Hydreigon would only be outpaced by Hawlucha with a neutral/positive nature at +2, or Scolipede at +2. Combined with Hydreigon's insane power and coverage, Hydreigon turns into a lightning monster under Tailwind.

Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Fire Blast / Flash Cannon / Superpower
- Tailwind

Pretty self explanatory, Tailwind doubles speed and can be quite useful on certain switch ins (an example being Latis coming in on a predicted Fire Blast or Earth Power or MegaGross to take a Draco) and allows Hydreigon to get over its kinda shitty speed tier and outrun the entire unboosted meta + every relevant scarfer. And it affects the entire team so it can ease prediction with something like Gyarados or Mega Diancie

Oh, I got a bawlin' Hydreigon set that has worked out so well.

I've always favored Hydra way more as a bulky pivot than a wall breaker. Most of the other Dragons perform that role better like Latios (mixed offensive STABs with Draco/Psyshock), and Mold Breaker/Teravolt Haxorus and Kyurem-B. Much better offensive stats and abilities for those roles.

What Hydra has going for it though is a typing/ability combo that grant it 6 resistances and 2 immunities, on top of Roost and access to Leftovers, with no SR weakness, and immunity to Spikes. On top of that he gets U-Turn, what more could you want in a bulky pivot? Not to mention his support movepool as well as coverage options are great, meaning rather than trying to cover everything, you can suit him to take out certain threats. Have an Agility M-Metagross and you can run Earth Power for Bisharp, Heatran and Sand Rush Excadrill for example. You can also outrun defensive Mew and Celebi and threaten with Dark STAB and Taunt. Or you can use Thunder Wave to slow down fast switch ins.

So here are some of the highlights:

  • Counter to Mega Slowbro. Even if it gets a Calm Mind in, you still 2HKO, and even if it runs the rare Ice Beam, it can't OHKO you. Taunt prevents recovery and boosting obviously.
  • Outspeeds stallbreaker Mew.
  • Unless you really need to OHKO Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor, Dark Pulse and either Earth Power or Focus Blast are good for most Steels. The advantages of Focus Blast is that it can OHKO bulky Tyranitar and AV Bisharp, has a good chance of OHKO on Mega Gyarados if it switched into SR before megavolving, and it can hit Air Balloon Excadrill/Heatran. Dark Pulse clean 2HKOs Skarmory anyway so you don't need Fire Blast. Earth Power is more consistent though because of accuracy.
  • Counters Reflect Type Starmie with Focus Blast.
  • With Taunt can stall defensive Mega Venusaur, as Dark Pulse is 3HKO when it can't restore HP, and you can Roost off Sludge Bombs.
  • Also counters Gliscor, Hippowdon, Chansey, Mew, Celebi, Suicune, Amoongus, Rotom-W, Quagisre, Cresselia, Crawdaunt, Zapdos, and Mega Houndoom.
So if you ask me, you gotta abuse Taunt and your resistances, you really do hard wall many staples of Stall and Balance, and it's easy to cover Hydreigon with several Fairy type clerics like Sylveon or Clefable resisting most of Hydreigon's weaknesses. If you find your power a little wanting, Expert Belt will make many of those chances to OHKO guaranteed while also preserving your longevity by lacking LO recoil, and you still have Roost. In fact, it may even be preferred.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-231674833
Hydreigon Roost's off weak U-Turns no problem, is very hard to exploit type wise, a strong Dark Pulse just has such good neutral coverage alone, and Taunt combined with its speed just means so many wasted turns for the opponent. Again, the speed is meant for certain defensive versions of Mew and Celebi, but you can put a lot more EVs into SpA or a defensive stat instead.

Lureigon

Hydreigon @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Iron Tail
- Thunder Fang
- Fire Blast
- Outrage

Iron Tail 2HKOs most OU fairies. Thunder Fang is solely for Azumarill, because nothing else in Hydreigon's movepool can touch every variant of it (save for Head Smash). Fire Blast is for Steels, and is used because it doesn't need any Special Attack investment to roast its targets. Once the opponents are weakened, it is free to spam Outrage.

This set is walled by Heatran, but since Heatran normally does not like to switch in on Hydreigon, it's not too much of an issue.

Charge Beam Hydreigon

Hydreigon @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def /252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Charge Beam
- Draco Meteor
- Flash Cannon
- Dark Pulse

Hydreigon's biggest nemesis is perhaps Azumarill, who can take any hit from the 3-headed dragon and proceed to wreck it with Fairy STAB; however, Charge Beam gives Hydreigon an effective way to get around Azumarill as shown below:

252 SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Charge Beam vs. 88 HP / 0 SpD Azumarill: 166-198 (45.7 - 54.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

What's even better about Charge Beam is that by boosting SpA(fairly consistently), it further powers up Hydreigon, turning it into a nightmare to face after a while; for instance, AV Conkeldurr, a good switch-in to Hydreigon, is bopped by a Draco Meteor after a Charge Beam and some prior damage, while Mega-Altaria is KOed by a Flash Cannon after a Charge Beam boost:

+1 252 SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 236 SpD Assault Vest Conkeldurr: 282-333 (80.3 - 94.8%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
+1 252 SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Flash Cannon vs. 64 HP / 0 SpD Mega Altaria: 317-374 (103.2 - 121.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
