When plan A fails, switch to plan... wait, what plan? - OU Warstory

Intro:

I recently made a new team, designed around an SDLuke sweep. I was testing it on Shoddy, changing here and there where I saw fit. The battle before this, I removed Rotom-H for Zapdos... you'll see why this is important later.

My Team:

Legend:

signifies Leftovers.
signifies Choice Band.
signifies Life Orb.
signifies Expert Belt.

Tortured_Soul will be in Green.
LunarEclipse will be in Purple.
Recovery will be in Pink.
Damage will be in Red.

-Stealth Rock damage will be included.

- Spikes damage will be included.

- Leftovers recovery will be removed.

- Sandstorm damage will be removed.

Tortured_Soul sent out Gliscor (lvl 100 Gliscor ?).

Ok, not good. There goes my main TTar and Luke check for later in the game. Frankly, I didn't expect a lead Infernape to be running HP Ice, as most I've seen have been Stealth Rock leads. I switch to Zapdos, seeing as HP Ice does pitiful damage, and I can set my screen early.

Ok, I got my screens up early. Since I can't do anything to the pink blob, I decide to switch to Lucario, expecting the Toxic. Unforunately...

Tortured_Soul switched in Lucario (lvl 100 Lucario ?).
Jyou used Thunder Wave.

LunarEclipse switched in Hitsugi (lvl 100 Rotom-c).
Lucario is paralysed! It can't move!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Ok, well that didn't work out well at all. My main sweeper is now a liablity, thanks to Thunder Wave. I decide to stay in and at least try to KO Blissey, who would be a problem to the rest of the team. Unfortunately, hax kicks in and I'm left stranded in front of a Cut Forme Rotom. (Not that it would have mattered, since I was using Close Combat) Since I obviously can't stay in, I switch to Snorlax, hopefully able to KO with Crunch.

Hitsugi's substitute faded!
Snorlax's light screen wore off!
Hitsugi's leftovers gave it some respite!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Ok, so now I know it's the set-up sweeper. Since I can't allow him to sub again, I keep the onslaught of Crunch, and I'll hit whatever steps in with decent damage. Looking at it, he should have WoW'd me at that point, but how was he to know Snorlax was Banded? Maybe when it didn't recover from Leftovers...

Ouch. I switched in Lucario expecting the T-Wave and instead got a Flamethrower in the face. Now I know it has Flamethrower, I'm fairly sure it won't have Ice Beam as well. This is good news for Salamence, but means Lucario becomes even more useless... I switch Tyranitar into Blissey and take the next Flamethrower, as long as it doesn't burn hopefully it scares Blissey out. Because seriously, Tyranitar would only ever be holding Choice Band, Life Orb or Leftovers right?

Ok, that wasn't cool. Double Parahax in a row cost me an opportunity to KO Salamence. Expert Belt Ice Beam was a OHKO, and I had two shots at it. At this moment, with Salamence having a DD under it's belt I needed to kill it off, and the only way how was with Lucario. I switch in Lucario and go for the obvious option, praying there's no more parahax.

The same old happens here. Rotom subs, I break it, he attacks, I roost while he subs. Basically, I'm winning the war here, he's losing more health than he gains and I can just Roost off damage. Plus, I got my screens back up again. (At the moment though, it seems they're only useful to reduce damage against Zapdos itself)...

Ok, a mixed bag here. I finally removed that damned pink blob which was annoying Zapdos to no end. Snorlax unfortunately also goes down, but I know I have the soldiers left to get the job done. Amazing considering how the match started out. Becuase he U-turned to kill, I see his Infernape come in and have a few options. I decide to go with Zapdos, since I'm fairly sure he's not running Stone Edge and I can Roost off any damage, while KO'ing easily. Also, I assume it's running a Choice Scarf, but not positive. It seems he decided Mence wasn't going to be of much use anymore, and used it to damage Zapdos enough that hopefully Scizor could do something. Dragon Claw takes a large dent, but I manage to KO Salamence, evening the ledger at 3-3. He brings in Scizor, who I decided I wasn't going to risk Zapdos on with it's health as low as that. I send in my own Mence to take the Bullet Punch and cut Scizor's attack...

Wow, I should have expected Overheat. It left Zapdos with a measly 3% to fall back on. This also confirmed in my mind that it was indeed Scarfed, not that it mattered in the end. I did have Lucario and it's Extremespeed in the wings, so even if it did KO Zappy I 'should' have won.

Props:
- LunarEclipse for a well fought battle.
- Zapdos for being an absolute beast. It KO'd every pokemon except for Blissey. (And still being alive at the end)

Slops:
-Parahax being a bitch
-Gliscor for being rayped at the beginning.

Not great. You essentially recounted the match, which isn't what we want to see. Next time explain why you chose each move.

Your opponent was pretty bad because even you had your pokemons crippled he lost bit too easily to my taste. No great predictions, comments were lacking etc. so this wasn't great warstory. Next time try harder.

Not Incredible but alright. To be honest both sides made sloppy errors with move choices where the switch was obvious like the Extremespeed on the Rotom Switch You shouldve gone to snorlax for the threatened crunch etc.

Need more comments as well. Alright Warstory 3.5/5 perhaps maybe 4 although the comments were lacking it was a nice warstory.

I found the format alright, although I guess some people would find it excessive. The real flaw was, as Thorns said, the fact that instead of providing insight and thought processes, you kinda just explain what instead of why. Oh and sorry, but the battle wasn't that good either. I actually lost interest around halfway through. :(

And the rest.
I was referring to the 'Zapdos restored 6% of it's health' part.

@Everyone else: I agree, but it is my first and I'll take it into account should I decide on doing another. Thankyou.

You shouldve gone to snorlax for the threatened crunch etc.
As I said in the log, I assumed Rotom would switch into it, but had he not that's my last chance of KO'ing it (since it had a DD under it's belt). I played the conservative approach rather than taking the risk and possibly being burnt.

The format is very good, although the battle was mediocre at best. You made some terrible predictions early on, such as letting Gliscor stay in against Infernape when you had a Zapdos, and blindly switching Lucario in on Blissey when the most obvious move Blissey would use was Thunder Wave. I guess you could've predicted a Toxic, though I'd rather have a statused Tyranitar than a useless Lucario (which is what Lucario was this entire match; useless). Hax did hurt you against Salamence, although I don't know why he switched out against Lucario. He was pretty healthy, and Extremespeed wouldn't have KOed him. Zapdos basically walled the entire team bar Blissey, who he foolishly left in against a Choice Band Snorlax when Rotom or Scizor could've came in. If Blissey was alive, Zapdos wouldn't have been able to parade around his team like it did.

Again, nice format, mediocre battle, lacking commentary. I did enjoy reading it though =)

As Valantaro said, the format was very good, but i really disliked the comments, you basically said "Ok, this..." every turn, the battle was average, not a lot of great moves, but i still liked it.
