San Bwanna
[OVERVIEW]
Terrible defenses, bad offenses, and low Speed mean that Whismur completely fails to carve a niche for itself. Despite having great coverage moves as many other Normal-types do, it simply doesn't have the stats to back it up. It best fits on Trick Room teams, as those allow it to use its awful Speed to its advantage while attempting to wallbreak with its many moves, but it is completely outclassed by other Trick Room wallbreakers like Spritzee, thanks to its access to the move, and Cranidos and Clamperl, which are simply far stronger than it. There are also several other Normal-types that are simply far better offensively, like Bunnelby and, on Trick Room, even Munchlax. All this, combined with Trick Room being horrible anyway due to the low amount of turns it has (an issue that is compounded by Whismur's struggle to OHKO most of the metagame), means that Whismur lacks a place in the metagame.
[SET]
name: Trick Room Breaker
move 1: Hyper Voice
move 2: Shadow Ball
move 3: Ice Beam
move 4: Fire Blast / Hammer Arm
item: Life Orb
ability: Soundproof
nature: Quiet
evs: 244 HP / 36 Def / 188 SpA / 36 SpD
[SET COMMENTS]
This set tries to utilize Whismur's extensive coverage to hit most of the metagame hard, but even when boosted by Life Orb, its low offensive stats mean it doesn't do it quite as well as it would hope. Whismur's defenses also leave it vulnerable to getting KOed by almost anything, so in general, don't use Whismur; just use Munchlax if you really want a Normal-type that fits on Trick Room or simply any other Trick Room wallbreaker like Spritzee.
