We both agreed that you need some real speed, as in strong priority moves or scarfers, and we're talking about jollychomp or timidgar scarf speed. The amount of speed that swift swimmers can reach is mind-bending and they still can run attack boosting natures.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is supposed to test the effects of weather, not NOT if Kyogre / Groudon are viable in OU at level 78, correct? If so, posts talking specifically about Kyogre and Groudon are off topic to this whole discussion, since they will not be moved down to OU.
We are using lvl 78 ubers just to gauge the impact of auto-weather. They will NOT be moved down to OU -- at level 78 or otherwise. This is only a test of weather.

Groudon and Kyogre will be used to test permanent auto-weather.
Groudino and Kyogrette will be used to test turn-limited auto-weather.

All of these pokes will be eliminated after the testing period. Nothing is going to change with uber/OU tiering. But hopefully, we will know more about weather before we consider making a new auto-weather poke in the CAP project.

Put me down on the roster for the mine Kyogre team please Tennis, tbh I'll be glad to have a little less pressure this close to midyear exams.

What are the ground for a successful or unsuccessful test? I am interested in testing but if the end result does not lead to some sort of successful conclusion what was the point. So far other than eric logs the some feedback has been "duh" we already knew that stuff

1.Kingdra is monster in the rain.Yes we knew that already it out speeds everything,Its water attack hits harder in the rain.It has one weakness and solid enough not to be revenge killed.

2.Water types have slight advantage. We knew that already they are more water types in game than any other type and they versatile enough that you can stick couple on team without causing a big weakness.Fire types and Grass types(types that get advantage the sun) screw each other in sunny day. Also finally Water has an advantage over Ground and Rock.So a water weather changer controls the the weather war because rock and ground type don't want to switch in a water type, and water type is not afraid to switch on a ground or rock type.

Couple things

--The most important part of this test to should be against standard teams. The whole point of this exercise is that

A.Weather teams are to strong for the current metagame
B.Weather teams change the game way to much

--Part B of this how well are the standard walls aka Blissey,Cresse, etc standing up against weather teams

-- Should the weather changer for the sunny day be a ground type?Ideally would water beat fire, ice beats water, fire beats ice, rock beat fire be the type of thing that we are shooting for. Also if we do ever make sunny weather 5 turn changer the likelihood of it being it fire or grass is way higher than a ground type.It would be a better test with one of those type i think.

I am going to put together something like 2 standard team and weather killing team if i am let on control clear team.

OK, what if we make the auto weather poke so useless that it is only dead-weight for anything other than weather? Tyranitar and Hippowdon are both capable of doing things themselves. Abamoasnow sucks a bit, but at least he has a few useful resistances so he can switch in and out a few times...

I'm thinking a poke with a crapload of counters and nothing that great besides weather. Low stats, bad movepool, worst typing available. Essentially it's only for weather support and you basically have 5 pokes because of it.

I was thinking something like Glalie, but without useful stab and a worse movepool. Maybe base 70-75 instead of 80s across the board.

Only problem I see is that Tyranitar would utterly destroy a rain team with Pursuit and Sand Stream if we make the weather-poke this weak....

The point of this test is to stop the theorymon and start gathering evidence. There is not going to be an objective measurement at the end of it. But, hopefully we'll have some real gameplay feedback to back up our opinions, instead of conjecture.

I'd propose we test with something along the lines of the following:

All teams must be played to the "spirit" of their theme.
This does not mean you have to start weather if the opponent is able to be beaten without it. But, Weather teams should be built to use weather. By the same token, Clear teams should not have any auto-weather pokes on them.

Matchups between players should be played in sets of three battles.
The first two battles are played normally, with each team free to change up pokes or teams in between battles. However, if one team wins the first two battles, they are restricted in the third battle. They must use the exact same team as they used in the second battle.

The idea here is that if you won the first two, you are likely to win the third. So, to give the losing team an advantage, they get to build a team to attempt to beat you specifically. If a team goes 3-0 in these circumstances then we really need to look at that matchup. With decent players, a 3-0 result is a very strong indicator of an unfair advantage to the winner. Presumably, weather being the unfair element.

After the three matches, discuss with your opponent and draw mutual conclusions. Each matchup does not need to yield clear evidence on how much weather affected the game. It's OK if battler skill was uneven or if the pokemon matchups were really bad for one side. Perhaps luck will play too big a part and obscure the results. There's really no "wrong" answer here. Just spend a little time after the match and compare notes with each other.

Decide which log (or logs) is most representative of your conclusions and post it here. We don't need full warstories. All logs should be wrapped in CODE tags, with commentary above and/or below the logs. It doesn't need to be elaborate.

Posting logs is the most important part of the test. We have to be able to refer to battle logs in order to discuss findings. We'll discuss the logs here and see if we can develop a community consensus on weather. Even if opinions are divided, at least we'll have more information on the topic, if and when we discuss a weather concept for a future CAP project.

For some reason, we have had problems getting actual logs posted in the past. People have been screaming bloody murder about Syclant. But every time I ask for logs, few are willing to post. Perhaps people think their play will be ridiculed. I don't know.

For this reason, I'm laying out a warning right now to everyone --

If you comment on a battle log posted here, you damn well better be respectful of the people that are participating in the test.

If anyone demeans, insults or otherwise chastises the play of any of the participants in this test, you will be moderated immediately. This applies to everyone. I want testers to be free to post logs without a bunch of smug assholes making them regret their decision to contribute to the project.

That doesn't mean you need to lie about the logs. If someone gets clearly beaten by a more skilled player, then that's what happened. But, there are nice ways to say it, and there are rude ways to say it. If you aren't sure how to say something nicely, then I suggest you keep your comments to yourself. Remember this: If you are mean to anyone here -- I am going to be mean to you. You have been warned.

I'm really looking forward to the results. Testing this stuff should be very interesting. Let's keep it light and keep it fun. We aren't changing the world here. We're just playing Pokemon....

The plan was to make the new Pokemon around as strong as Abomnasnow, maybe a bit weaker. I really don't think we have much chance of voting in a Pokemon with 70-75s across the board, we need something weak but that can do a bit more than weather support.

all the stuff DJD said looks fine.

Right now onto the main issue, even if I am not allowed to join more then one team, I will most certenly have a test of some of the others.

I think it is just as important that the "Clear teams" are tested against "normal teams (as they were)" and other "Clear teams". I mean, let's say this test forces you to use Golduck and Clefable to beat weather teams, then you will probably perform worse against non-weather teams.

I'm planning to use first my OU teams, without modifications, and then start modifying them to adapt to the weather teams, but trying to not use gimmick solutions if possible. Then, of course, test the modified teams against normal teams.
